See, now I can kinda go with this, and it might very well be the case. But the way this show has been written so far, everything is so on the nose. There's really not much subtext to the way the characters react the way higher quality shows would like THE WIRE. Characters here usually say exactly what's on their mind to hammer the point home. There's not much reading between the lines the viewer has to do at all.

How could she flip on him about money when, to go out on their first date, didn't he offer her like double what she would make on tips on a good night?!?

I think he's cool too. I mean he's corny as fuck, but there are lots of corny mofos like him from NY. Every NY gangster ain't smooth. Plus he's a simp, so I think he's suppose to be a corny character. The cool thing about him I think he really cares about his homie and his wife. Crazy how they just murked shorty tho... Race (to kids) Is not a big deal in certain hoods. It looks like they might be from forest hills in queens. I stayed there for a few weeks and it's kinda middle class semi suburban. Well at least where I was staying was. I'm not a native NY'ker so I can't really expound on the subject.
