The stage setup was perfect because the fans had a great view from ALL angles. :yes:

So nobody was pushing their way to the front of the stage, or felt they were too far away from the action. :smh:

Plus the folks in the balcony could easily see everything also. I give Sway credit because he kept the show moving at all times. They weren't any 'dead spots' between battles. :smh:

They went from battle to battle with an intro video in between (on the big screen) that introduced each emcee while they got mic'd up.

After that, they started the battles quickly. Maybe just a quick 5 minute break in between each. But no more than that. (Unlike Smack events where it can take 20 minutes or so to start the next battle.)

For me, the only 2 major issues was the mics at the end (when Hollow battled Joe) and the executive decision to involve Ebro in this event. :hmm:

He shoulda never been given a mic to make his comments out loud, imo. :smh:

Honestly, I would've rather heard commentary from Star instead.
At least HE respects battle rap and knows ALL the emcees personally.
Plus Star KNOWS what each emcee is capable of. :yes:
He's seen them at their Best and Worst.
And would be quick to ell them if they were slacking, or if they were on fire.

He's never interacted with any of these emcees outside of the Hot 97 offices. :smh:
He's never been to a Smack event. :smh:

Its like having a junior college student announce a Pro Boxing fight... instead of Max Kellerman.

So it didn't feel like a Smack, or GrindTime, or UW event because it was a Hot 97 RADIO crowd. :yes: That's the difference.

That's why certain punchlines got either no reaction, or way too much reaction for a mediocre line. :yes:

Here's my conclusion....

If you watched the reality show "Total Slaughter"...
In the very first episode when Daylyt arrives at the house (in his boxers) all the other emcees were like :hmm: C'mon Son. You better than that.

Daylyt said: Win, lose or draw... he was on a mission to be the 'most talked about' person in the house.

So on Day 1, MARV ONE responded to him with some REAL SHIT and says: "You are one of the MOST gifted emcees standing here... but ONE DAY you will have to make a choice... do you want to be remembered for your BARS? or these ANTICS?" :dunno:

That shit stuck with Daylyt.
It hit home. :yes:

Real talk always leaves an impression. Good or bad. :yes:

Because he said so (in episode 3?): "Marv told me some deep shit. That's the only thing that has really stuck in my mind since I been here" or something like that.

So Daylyt starts killing niggas with his BARS in these matchups. And makes it to the Finals.

Now Fast Forward months later...

Dizaster & Math exchange blows at a KOTD event.
Daylyt gets dropped for a potential record deal by Eminem, because his crew was involved in the squabble.

Daylyt goes to Dizasters house to punk him into apologizing to Math...but gets his jaw tapped several times by that crazy Arab and gets put on blast on twitter in the aftermath.

This makes 2 consecutive L's that Daylyt takes over the Dizaster / Math beef. :yes:

Then all of a sudden....that "ONE DAY" Marv One talked about..... becomes "Last Night". :yes:

THE BIG EVENT.

A LAST CHANCE for Daylyt to win the tv show, win the crowd & re-instate his deal with Shady Records if he can pull-off a BLOWOUT victory.:yes:

But how can he 'bring the house down'? What will it take? :dunno:

There's an old saying: "if you get invited to a party... Dance with the girl who brung you there" :cool:

Daylyt.... Who has a phenomenal pen game... and was killing dudes in the earlier matchups with it....chooses to let his 'antics' carry him... instead of his 'talent'. :rolleyes:

But Rex comes out the gate HOT. :eek:
Starts cooking him............. EARLY. :yes:

And Daylyt cannot get his shit off... because the crowd cannot HEAR his bars properly... because he's wearing a dumbass mask.... which is part of his whole outfit.... driven by his 'antics'.... for the purpose of making a 'spectacle' to get a BIG WIN. :smh:

So he wasn't getting boo'd.
He just heard 'crickets' in round 1 & 2. :smh:

This was the mass appeal 'radio' audience he wanted to 'impress' so badly. :yes:

This was his chance to redeem his dream. :yes:

But he fell flat.

So by the 3rd round... he finally realized that "Milk was a bad choice" as Ron Burgundy would say in the movie Anchorman. :lol:

He let his 'antics' outshine his 'talent'.
And it backfired.

At the worst possible time. :smh:

Frustrated. He strips ALL that shit off.
But now it's too late.

He lost the crowd.
Lost the battle.

And lost his damn mind. :rolleyes:

All at the same time. :rolleyes:

The harsh reality is....

If he was WINNING the battle by round 3 in that outfit... he woulda NEVER taken his clothes off. :smh: Never. :smh:

I have this one to couture. Not sure which round out of 1and 2 but definitely 3

Official may wanna fall back for a sec and find a way to be ass ill as she is with the punches but ... I dunno what it is. Her style a getting played or something

Couture was more crisp. Not as good a performance as O, but fortunately for her she has a vocal tone that is assertive but not out of character.

It was tough to watch every 2 bars the crowd cheers. Official over saturated herself this year and I think Couture really exposed that with the "Manicure" mentions.

Off topic, I loooooooove big tiddies but big tiddies and little legs are never sexy. O need to wear jeans and cleavage shirts from now on. She looked like a pack of biscuits ready to buss in that tight ass outfit. Them flats didn't help them skinny legs none. Bitch looked like an Oakland Raider.

I just got finished watching Reed vs John John da don. Reed's bars were stuck in time. That shit had Franky wit da Grippas/Kaboom and Beez (ghost)written all over it. Touchmoney/TopKlass were the shit back in the day.
It looks like John John should get a shot at Mook for the crown or Hollow for the grudge match.
 
Joe Budden got that W in my opinion. People saying his delivery was off and all that bullshit, not to me his style is just different from what you are used to watching a battle. His punches hit much harder than Hollow Da Don, this coming from a Hollow Da don fan. Joe won that easily could have been 3-0 if it wasn't for him semi quitting but then coming back in the third round. I listened to angryfan and I lot of other shit and it seem like people were so disappointed in this event that about the time joe and hollow went on they were tuned out.

This genre is gonna producer some stars, maybe not directly in battle rap, but like how Conceited is in "wilding out", there are a lot of places they can go from this stuff as long as they just enjoy themselves and work hard like these two.

Good point dna and clips have "personality" , versatility,and are grounded as well as marketable. It's no wonder they get love outside the U.S.when they battle.

I definitely feel Jaz is overrated, so much so that people keep under preparing for her and fucking up live.

I think QB beat her, but she choked in a round, or really stumbled and people went crazy.

I think ms hustle is overrated as shit and she choked twice against Jaz in one of the most boring battles ever.

Chayna Ashley... Overrated.

All these are people Jaz beat but not a one of em lost because their shit was right and she edged em.
 
Jaz is just as good as one of these newer class Brooklyn PGs, not better tho. Thing is I don't think you can feel like these chicks are anything but overrated when they are in front of that QOTR crowd. These fuckers cheer every 2 bars. Gattas in front of that KOTD crowd is pretty decent but these QOTR crowds get hype over every setup. Reminds me of my mother in law laughing & geeking every time my son does something "cute". To me & my wiz it's regular shit but for some reason grandma gets extra hype.
