Does anyone think Maidana won the fight? Again, if Maidana fails the post fight
drug test, Robert Garcia's match box head needs to be banned from boxing.
The people are celebrating fighting a close fight, but no one can say Maidana
won...
People are saying that Maidana won. But, they're only doing that so they can say Floyd lost. No one actually believes he won. Anything that remotely resembled him winning a round past the 6th will be much clearer in a re-watch. I haven't seen so much missing in recent years. Honestly, I expected better of him. He came in with the same strategy to crowd and overwhelm Floyd out the gate like he did Broner. Floyd is too smart a fighter. He let him wind himself in the early rounds, and start sucking in air through his mouth. Then he systematically kept him out of steam with body shots him all night. His punches had no mustard on em after the half. Anyone who thinks the punches against the ropes were effective isn't familiar with boxing. Punches landed on a fighter who uses the ropes as well as Floyd only tire the puncher, while having about 75% of the power absorbed by the ropes. He was only hurt by the low blows and that head butt. He was never in trouble. If he could've timed that check hook a little better Maidana would've hit the canvas. Although I believe he would've gotten up no matter how many times he went down. He's got a lotta heart, but none of these trainers seem to know how to beat Floyd.
All they would have to do is train their fighter to destroy his body, because his head is rarely there to catch anything you throw. And when it is, his shoulder or a glove keeps it from landing flush. Why wear yourself out swinging at what you can't hurt. I would train my fighter to faint in with heavy lateral movement, only swing when in close, and just power shot his arms, chest, stomach and whatever you can hit. Pay special attention to destroying his biceps. Don't miss anymore than 5% of punches. Just wail on him. Sure Compubox won't give credit for most being landed. But if you do that from start through the 6th round, you will see a much different Floyd the second half of the fight. In the 7th, continue but rest,. Do about half of what you've been doing and keep him off the jab so he stays away. Only jab at his head, which will be much more vulnerable now that his arms are hurt. Fight like this until the 9th. In the 9th, go back to work full steam battering his body. Slow down for the 10th through the midway mark of the 11th. Then back at it.
In the 12th, he won't want to come forward, but he has to, because by now he's behind on all the scorecards. Fight smart and evade the first minute. Then attack, beginning slowly, and pick up steam as the last minute begins. In the last 30 seconds beat the ever loving fuck out of him, hitting whatever you can. Sure you probably land between 10 - 30 punches to the head the whole night, but that's great against Floyd. I guarantee a different outcome at decision time. All these fighters trying to knock him out got the whole thing twisted. This is the same type of strategy you would've needed to dominate Winky Wright. But ironically, A fighter with Winky's style would be the perfect choice to beat Floyd.
