honorable is the wrong word. charitable fits better.
i think this is too far on the end of the spectrum.
on the other end of the spectrum, i think it is also incorrect to assume walt attempted to spare hank because of the blanket "family" motivation.
my perspective is that keeping hank alive (throughout the show) was leverage with skyler. if anything happened to hank, skyler would go batshit crazy and walt would lose her as an accomplice.
we all saw her reaction in the house.
Some times you need to know who to be loyal to.I think most of tha loyalty stemmed from Jesse being one of his students who he tried to develop a father/son relationship with.Walt is loyal... as much as people talk about his "bad traits" he's loyal.. he hardly does something to someone for no reason...
remember he started having issues with gus because of jessie ... then in that trailer like building... were gus wanted jessie to squash the beef with the two dealers.. jessie was being real ignorant talking shit .. and it was walt's mouth piece that didn't get jessie the box cutter special...
and btw for the people who say it's because of "control" walt could have controlled gale.... who looked up to him like an idol...,but he choose jessie.... The man loved jessie...like a son...
too look a king pin like gus in the eye and say.. if you kill jessie you lose me ? come on
So you don't believe that they like to act like they have a "code" ie keeping their word?
Ummmm, you know that wasn't Gus's brother right? You should watch that episode again.
damn I haven't watched the ep yet but I had to sneak a peek @ some of the comments...looks like cranrab was right in his prediction...hank died (no surprise) + them dudes took walt's $$$ smmfh...and walt confessed to jesse bitch dying lol...lemme not spoil the rest for myself...tryna watch it friday
Are you watching the show ? when saul.. brought up the idea of killing hank... walt became very angry..
Walt considers hank his family... for better or worse... he was trying to save him. and has been saving him through out the series..... I bet you others agree too..
i think you're giving the writers too much credit.
there is a popular audience (thirst?) for characters who are "good people who sometimes do bad things". another way of putting it is presenting evil characters who are NOT completely lacking any redeeming qualities as human beings.
there are a couple BGOL members who are fond of using the term "cognitive dissonance" in their threads without understanding it. walt (and his actions) create cognitive dissonance in viewers and that's part of the reason breaking bad is compelling entertainment.
What I don't get is this rednecks just got about 60 mill, what the fuck are they still doing In Town making meth

Why not? Because everyone gets caught eventually, if you got about 60 mill why risk your freedomwhy not?
you've got jesse to cook, and lydia to distribute.
the cartel is out of the picture, you eliminated declan.
you own foreign and domestic distribution.
only problem is, jack is as equally unqualified to be a shot caller as walt is.
Friday? Gotta watch it before then, fam'. It's well worth it![]()
The rest?![]()

He kept trying to save Jesse from himself when he should have just let him die.Jesses been a fuck up since day one.He was only clutch when he killed Gale but Gale was brought on only because Gus was pissed with Walt for keeping a loose cannon like Jesse around.

they certainly do.
the code is to have put a bullet in walt. and jack told walt as much. that lame handshake was bourgeois hollywood bullshit.
as i said BEFORE the episode aired, the whites would PUNK walt for his money. not negotiate. not request. PUNK.
heisenberg ordered the whites to do his bidding. walt pleaded and whined like a bitch and offered triple for hitting jesse. when jack confirmed that walt was too pussy to get his own hands dirty whacking a snivelling junkie, all respect went out the window.
no timeplus I wanna enjoy it w/ a good strong drink in hand
most of it was predictable + already discussed before the ep dropped...the only thing I'm surprised about is walt confessing to watching the chic die...and now I'm reading walt dumbass is the reason the nazis even knew about the $$$...I'm just watching it for the action...but they have made walt's character very stupid (some are calling it "loyal") this last season
thus the reason i said walt could give two shits about hank he cares about the family. If the story line went the way of walt having multiple jump offs not giving a fuck about his family blah blah blah Hank would have long been taking care of as "business"
You see my point about walt actually having love for hank ? regardless of the skyler angle ?
Losing the money shows that Walt wasn't street smart. If he was he would have known that Hank wasn't getting out there alive because Hank knew it. Some rebel Nazi's weren't leaving a law enforcement officer alive no matter what they were offered. There thinking is they'll just kill the officer AND take the money.

Walt isn't a street dude but he's willing to kill if it protects his family, even if that family wants to put him in jail. With the tape he chose his immediate family over Hank and Marie but was willing to give up all his money to save Hank.

why murder a unique asset? that you clearly have a need for and cannot acquire anywhere else?
Enough money is never enough. Once Todd learns the correct cooking procedure, their earning potential is unlimited with the help of that goofy bitch from Madrigal
what other logical reason would be why in the future we see walt with the m 60 ?
You see my point about walt actually having love for hank ? regardless of the skyler angle ?
$80 million that's why...
hank's discovery (combined with jesse's confession and huell's corroboration) of walt's criminal activities already EXPLODED that family, forever creating a rift between the white family and the shrader family. and thus a deep chasm between the lambert sisters.
walt may have had coincidental familial feelings for hank.
trying to keep hank alive last night (and also with the salamanca cousins) was more about sparing skyler's feelings than anything else. my take, anyway.
Dam....This past episode alone (from last night) has generated 8 pages in this thread in the past 1 day alone.
Gus crying when his brother died
