Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

They never showed Hank with any real friends or family. He also didn't have any kids. Besides the time with is wife, his spent his entire life chasing criminals. He was a devote cop but he also showed very little emphathy for anyone or any passion for anything beyond closing his cases. It's hard to really care for a character like that.

I felt more sorry for his partner than him.

His wife is a thief and he always looked passed that. I bet if they looked into his past they would find he was dirty.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

this show doesnt have to end. this isnt the end. this story could go on for years. all the bullshit on tv, and they always want to end the good shows.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

disagree about the relationship.

The bond is OBVIOUS...

damn Walt taught Todd to make the BLUE pretty much...

go back and watch the series and see how many times Walt has endangered & sacrificed himself for Jessie.

Damn...HANK just said to Jessie's face.

That is a real bond they have...I can't say Jessie dont know it either...he's used it to his advantage on occasion.

Jessie never FULLY sided with Mike or Guz (which actually made matters WORSE in the long run)

Its his lack of character and inability to take ANY REAL responsibility for his actions that is really grating.
:yes::yes:

also like a youtube comment I posted said this

Jessie curses and has no "manners" will curse in front of or at random people ,but has a conscious.. I got to give the junkie that.. he's always had emotional moments for people.. jessie is unreliable ... remember many times.. walt had to grind to get him going so much

Todd doesn't curse is strictly yes mam no mam. ,but will kill a kid with no issue.... he's loyal.. will never snitch.... depanable... notice walt doesn't have to worry about todd showing up any time ..doesn't do drugs.... does he even drink beer ? Memory is hazy on that part

Jessie is pissed that gus people killed a kid

Todd kills a kid...

basically the complete opposite

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

out of all the encounters walt and jesse had on the show with Tucco, Gus and others i just think the uncle is not the one to be fucked with.

you see he told Walt the only reason he got some of his money was because of the respect his nephew had for him

I thought he said the only reason he's still alive was because of the respect his nephew has for him ?

walt living was going to get one barrel anyway

to my fellow bgolers...do you think it was "honorable" that the nazi... let walt keep a barrel of his own money ? I mean... giving the fact that's a hardcore killer...?

It was honorable, because they could have left him nothing and killed him too.

Shirt, I would have tied up all loose ends and killed Walt and Jesse there in the desert and buried em with Hank and other dude...

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

I'm hating Walts character more on more. Its like hes so smart but yet so fucking dumb at tha same time.In back to back episodes he snitches on himself. He was to stupid to realize that Hank was a dead man and he didn't need to give up tha majority of his hard earned money. He caught several bodies over that money and almost got killed to.

But I thought they were gonna kill Jesses bitch ass. They were close till Todd remembered Jesse knew how to get down in tha lab.Once he learns from him its bye bye.I hope Jesse doesn't find a way out and end up with all that cash.I would really hate that.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

walt aint that cold blooded. he still tried to save hank.

Walt's thing is genuinely family... and will be too the end... so him saving hank was nothing

That's fucking crazy though that he was willing to give up 80 million to "try":eek:

even hank... said to walt you're smartest guy I've ever met ,but.... basically saying his was naive in this case.. because the nazis were in too deep and had no choice ,but to kill hank

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

he didnt try to save hank he tried to save his family. Walt could give two shits about Hank

Are you watching the show ? when saul.. brought up the idea of killing hank... walt became very angry..

Walt considers hank his family... for better or worse... he was trying to save him. and has been saving him through out the series..... I bet you others agree too..

He was definitely trying to save Hank. The whole theme of the show from the beginning has been family. Very emotional scene and tastefully done, but Hank made his own bed trying to be a cowboy

I'm a "little" conflicted.. my emotional side.. says man fuck those bitch ass Nazis... they stole my fucking money... giving me a barrel or not means nothing... plus I told them not to bother to come why did they still come ?

My Logical side says.. these bastards killed 9 men for me... with no regard for human life... just killed two dea agents... well one in the sense that they didn't know.. till before they killed hank....,but still I'm then in handcuffs.. and it's them with guns a quick head shot and me and jessie join hank and gomez..

They're hardcore killers ,but still leave me with a barrel.. though it's my money.. they could have killed me... or let me live and not have shit...

Walt did tell them not to bother to come though... they shouldn't have showed up in my eyes.. unless someone gives me the counterargument ... besides of course they were needed for the murders and drama

And that was Walts weakness. He tried to save Jesse plenty of times only to have him set his ass up.

why murder a unique asset? that you clearly have a need for and cannot acquire anywhere else?

This show is doing the worse of all time trying to get me to "hate walt".. in fact I'm liking him even more.. as greedy as he was.. he was willing to give it all up to save hank

Hank knew he was a goner though.. and said walt was the smartest person he ever met ,but... basically in this case he's a fool.. thinking he's going to convince these fools to let hank walk...

Yeah and boy those tears were like gus for his "partner" and they both were face down crying too... we know what gus did...for revenge

In a violent game like the drug game... Hank should have atleast had some dea agents.. over the years who would help him off "the books"

Look at hanks personality.. he was liked. sociable . and I'm sure he had people other than gomez ... I know he didn't want everyone else to know in their... but he didn't have two other people he could trust ? to play "scout "?

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

i think this is too far on the end of the spectrum.

on the other end of the spectrum, i think it is also incorrect to assume walt attempted to spare hank because of the blanket "family" motivation.

my perspective is that keeping hank alive (throughout the show) was leverage with skyler. if anything happened to hank, skyler would go batshit crazy and walt would lose her as an accomplice.

we all saw her reaction in the house.

I think that is the whole point. The writers want us to sympathize with Walt no matter how horrible he really is to the people he loves. That's great writing. Plus, the writers are trying to also show how others around him have become as corrupted...When Walt called Skylar at the end of the episode, he did so to dissolve her of the corruption and dirty business she had become a part of...it was not just goodbye, but it was like an absolution for her, which makes it Walt's last great deed...he is now solely responsible for all that has happened on the show

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

And that was Walts weakness. He tried to save Jesse plenty of times only to have him set his ass up.

Walt is loyal... as much as people talk about his "bad traits" he's loyal.. he hardly does something to someone for no reason...

remember he started having issues with gus because of jessie ... then in that trailer like building... were gus wanted jessie to squash the beef with the two dealers.. jessie was being real ignorant talking shit .. and it was walt's mouth piece that didn't get jessie the box cutter special...

and btw for the people who say it's because of "control" walt could have controlled gale.... who looked up to him like an idol...,but he choose jessie.... The man loved jessie...like a son...

too look a king pin like gus in the eye and say.. if you kill jessie you lose me ? come on

The writers own words.. are they want people to start "hating walt"... well it's two episodes left.. and I like walt more than any time in the series:yes:

No honor among thieves young man.

honorable is the wrong word. charitable fits better.
I would say "accommodating". It was done purely at the request of Todd. He accommodated his nephews request. Which brings me to my earlier point about Todd showing empathy. The move was "caring" on Todds part. Best part of the episode to me.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

the nazis were in too deep and had no choice ,but to kill hank

validated members of white power prison gangs (that have done time) have no problem taking on law enforcement. whether it be hand to hand or armed conflict.

there was no rational choice or decision making process by jack or his associate in executing hank.

Gilligan DID NOT want it to end the show yet but AMC called it...

and he couldn't find a new home for the show.

After seeing this years ratings?

Rest assured there will MORE then a few firings by the end of the year.

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

that was his brother in spirit. salt and pepper brothers is don ellrio called them i believe. they come up through the slums together

You might have missed the signs, but Gus and Max were most likely lovers.

"The humanity of Gus' personality played an integral role in his development, especially the very deep relationship with Max, which was interpreted by some viewers – and even Esposito himself – as possibly homosexual." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gus_Fring

I know it doesn't say that that was definitely the case, but it must have some truth to it if even the actor took it that way.

Unless he plans on putting that machine gun to Brock, I can't see myself hating him. He has done some wild, ridiculous shit in just a year, but he has not done enough for me to say he is truly unfit for salvation...then again, I don't want to know what he plans to do in that final episode but its probably goin to be ugly...

Re: Breaking Bad *series finale 8/11/13

i think you're giving the writers too much credit.

there is a popular audience (thirst?) for characters who are "good people who sometimes do bad things". another way of putting it is presenting evil characters who are NOT completely lacking any redeeming qualities as human beings.

there are a couple BGOL members who are fond of using the term "cognitive dissonance" in their threads without understanding it. walt (and his actions) create cognitive dissonance in viewers and that's part of the reason breaking bad is compelling entertainment.
