Why are you so against fast food workers making $15 a hour?

it should end where the employee decides it ends...it's not for the public to say what they deserve cuz if it was then a surgeon would prolly be getting a hell lot more than a fuckin baseball player

Completely different situations. You just compared 2 jobs that require incredible skill. If you have an in demand skill you dictate your worth. All surgeons aren't created equal. Dr. James Andrews is a surgeon & he makes more than most sports top earners.

Should all baseball players make the same because they are baseball players? Not because they earn more for their team because of their skill. You dictate what you are worth through your abilities. If your skills extend as far as setting a basket in grease you earning potential is slim because any person with hands & feet could accomplish the task.

it's up to the employer (I accidentally put employee) not the public...that was my point...not gonna get into a sidetracking debate about the examples I used...but the error was on my part tho so I understand your response

another ridiculous argument

your worth is rarely dependent upon your abilities

your worth is a direct result of the economic class you were birthed into

class mobility is rare in this country, thats why you have a culture of poverty

a fast food worker is no different than a factory worker of the past; both have the same skillset

the difference is that the factory workers created unions while the fast food worker has nothing

its time that these fast food workers demand more and they will get more...period!

theyre being fucked and its sad some of you dudes justify since it makes you feel better

man you dudes sound like walking bots for these corps

please explain to me how this fucks up anything?

the more a populace earns the more the economy improves

and these companies are not going to charge more for a big mac...im sorry

there is direct correlation between price and demand

if they drastically raise the price on a big mac, no one would want the shit

yall killing me with this bullshit

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

You may be right. They might not raise the price of a big mac. They'll just find way to operate at lower costs. Which means laying off workers They'll streamline the way it operates to accommodate the decrease in workers.

you cant lay off workers when your entire m.o is "fast food"

you need the workers to get the food out "fast"

and if the food isnt fast or if its pricey, who the fuck wants a big mac or a whopper?

you can go to a real burger joint and get quality

the workers have a win win situation here

CO-SIGN!
Fast food workers are required to work there so at least give them a livable wage...they owe them!

man you dudes and your false sense of ego

your experiences after college has nothing to do with an everyday worker who could quite possibly be more intelligent than both of you combined

these multibillion dollar companies should not be able to pay these slave wages to their employees

and unlike the clothing industry, they cannot ship these jobs overseas

the workers should strike until they get paid a living salary

poor people have to realize their is power in numbers and that they are the lifeforce of the mcdonalds and walmarts

fuck your college educations....this shit isnt even similar

It's NOT about college educations bruh, it's about who can do the job, the ONLY job requirement for a fast food restaurant is simply to be 16 years of age or older, does that mean you should now be entitled to make $15/hr?!?

You have an incredibly short-sighted view of economics, while I do agree that $7.25/hr needs to be raised, the amount that you get paid is directly proportional to the skill/experience YOU bring to the job, if you bring neither what obligation does McDonald's or any other place have to pay you?

I understand that times are changing, but this is NOT the fault of fast food places (Wal-Mart DOES however shoulder A LOT of the blame) keep in mind that their wages have actually more than doubled over the past 20 years, (in the 80's minimum wage was $3.35/hr) what other industry comes close to that?!?

The problem isn't @ the bottom, the problem is @ the top, and @ how the middle itself became stagnant as far as wage increases are concerned.

Put it this way, you have two restaurants, a good restaurant with good food and high prices, and a bad one with mediocre food and low prices, the good one closes up and moves away, does this warrant now paying the bad restaurant the same money as you would have paid in the good one?!?

McDonald's hasn't changed, only people's situations have, therefore why should places like McDonald's pick up the tab?

Yeah cause there is a fast food union and they cant just fire them and re-hire the thousands of other people who will start the same day because the ones that already work there are highly skilled and it would take months to train new employees! FIGHT THE POWER!

But who is paying for all these raises? I can assure you that the executives aren't taking an L. When gas prices went up. The cost of things that typically shipped by transportation went up. Gas prices fall & no price change. They will never lose on profits as long as their product is in demand.

:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

That's why my kids will never get papa johns again. Muthafucka tried to double dip on the gas situation and obamacare

dude again your argument doesnt make sense

if your black and you live in the north, more than likely your family was apart of the great migration to the north

so your fam got a job at a place like kodak(my hometown employer), you worked on a line, you put one part on a camera before you passed it down the line

it didnt take skill, it just took a responsible worker who came to work everyday

now your city is flourishing since everyone has jobs, kids are going to college, you can buy a house and car, and you even have a retirement plan

most importantly, your children arent born into poverty!

dude there was no skill....just a desire to get up and go to work everyday

now as for the burger example, it doesnt make sense

you already have good and bad burger joints right now and they both get plenty of business

the only difference is that the fast food worker is paid like shit

How does their earning minimal wage make me feel better? Would I be shut-out from getting a job there? $15 is nothing to me. I'm not a BGOL baller but I'm a tradesman. I dictate what I'm willing to accept for pay. If they made more than me & I was unable to increase my income I would just work there.

All I'm saying is increase your earning potential by learning a skill. Does it take any discernible skill to do what they do? If it did than they would earn more.

i just dont understand why black people are so against poor black folks earning more money from white multi-billion dollar corps

and I hate that cliche shit of learning a skill

its plenty of people with skill who are working at these very fast food joints or totally unemployed

pay these people!

Are you fucking crazy?
Your pay is not dictated by your skills...
A person working at BK can probably do your trade and maybe even better.

Absolutely INCORRECT!!!

Factory workers and fast food workers do indeed start the same, but fast food was NEVER intended to be a lifetime occupation, UNLESS you become a manager, also, in factory work you are trained for a series of weeks/months to do a particular job and to handle expensive, DANGEROUS equipment, for example you can't just walk off the street and work an industrial press or a sheet metal stamper, but once again, who the fuck can't put a basket in oil, press a button on a microwave, or sweep/mop the floor?!?

You've thrown salt in your own argument. So now McDonald's is paying their workers $15 an hour. Ruby Tuesday's is paying their chefs $15 an hour now. So now Ruby Tuesdays have to increase wages or find chefs to work 3 times as hard for equal pay as a fast food employee. Where does the money from the raise come from? Do they charge more for the product or do they let the quality of the product decrease?

Mc donalds is a corporation and is rich out the ass...they have the money to pay these unskilled working a living wage because at the end of the day, Mc donalds is in business to make their employees comfortable.

Then what's stopping them? I don't undercut anybody learning my trade. I just increase my worth by learning new skills related to my job. Find me a job where the pay is equal across the board regardless of skill.

most tier 1 tech support jobs pay around $15-17/hr, and thts with a degree and cert for some places. honestly, i could care less what they plan to pay their employees. i know that if they chose to, it wouldnt be on a national level. some places just can't afford to and dont profit as much as other franchises in their area. but if the average joe working at walmart, getting paid less than $10/hr, hears that he or she can make more at mcdonalds.....im pretty sure they'll quit in a heartbeat to go flip that burger and get paid $5 more. hell,...even some working at a helpdesk might jumpship for the golden arches. that will inturn, leave the high school kids and the dropouts alike struggling to find a job....lol
i remember my days working at Walmart Distribution Center....loading those damn trucks during the summer in that hot ass warehouse,...making just $8. If there would have been a McDonalds or BK offering $15/hr back then......i damn sho would have left and been right there.

Mc donalds is a corporation and is rich out the ass...they have the money to pay these unskilled working a living wage because at the end of the day, Mc donalds is in business to make their employees comfortable.

You must be joking. McDonald's is in business to make money. End of discussion.

man im done....youre not making sense

who says it isnt a lifetime occupation?

oh yeah...the head of the corps and yall run with it

and lmaoooo @ the dangerous machinery..you dont need skill for either job

hell one job youre working directly with people!

You must be joking. McDonald's is in business to make money. End of discussion.
They are a billion dollar corporation and should pay their workers enough money for them to live on!They are fucking crazy to expect you to use your head and get a roomate so you can save money to better yourself later in life. You guys are so elite that you are brainwashed! Mc donalds can afford to pay all their employees $20/hr because they have the money to do it!

Personally think minimum wage should be increased some, but we also need to acknowledge that 80% of McDonald's stores are franchisees, who invested somewhere between $1 million and $2 million up front. Not sure how much the stores clear annually, but until you get the investment back and a nice profit, raising costs to operate for any reason doesn't make sense.

Fuck Yeah cause in Mc Donalds there is equipment in there that can crush you to death or decapitate one of your arms if you are not trained thoroughly. Mc Donalds is a ZOO!

do you really believe a "cook" at ruby's should be paid twice as much as a mcdonalds worker?

really dude?

man yall are speaking solely on ego....

yall need someone to look down on :smh:

That isn't the point. I know they have the money. Most corporations have the money to pay their employees more more if they accept lower profits. We live in a capitalist society.

Example. Zynga just fired hundreds of employees but hired a new head for millions of dollars. His yearly salary alone could have kept those peoples jobs, but his worth to the company outweighed their worth.

Yeah that nigga is crazy with that bullshit!
A chef at Ruby Tuesday's couldn't possibly deserve double what they pay at Mc Donalds...Its not like they have to prepare any food from scratch or use any culinary skills. Shit all they do is put shit in the microwave and send it out. Niggas on Bgol are so elite that it sickens me

Yes. Show me a 16 year old chef (cook) at Ruby Tuesdays.

Keep it real, you just don't like poor people. Stop making sense and being logical bro. Paying these people $15 or more doesn't really make business sense but it just seems like it is the right thing to do.

dude again your argument doesnt make sense

:lol:Seriously bruh, do you NOT just realize that you proved my point?!?

Where exactly is Kodak @ now?!?

When you artificially inflate wages, companies have to find other ways to increase profits, or they go out of business!

My analogy was simply to point out that NOTHING changed @ the bad restaurant, so if NOTHING changed exactly why should the pay go up?!?

If ANYTHING, fast food restaurant workers actually do MUCH LESS than they did before, the food is essentially cooked already, all they do is place it in microwaves, but I digress, understand that I am NOT advocating for McDonald's, but people not being able to get better paying jobs IS NOT THEIR FAULT, exactly why are you blaming them?!?

And you didn't address the fact that their wages have more than doubled in 20 years, again I ask, what other job can come anywhere close to claiming this?!?

You and hollywood seem to be making broad assumptions for ish that doesn't make sense, skills don't matter, really?!?

So architects don't make more money than FF workers?!?

Doctors?!?

Lawyers?!?

Electricians?!?

Carpenters?!?

Plumbers?!?

Welders?!?

Roofers?!?

How about in construction, does a crane operator not make more than a day laborer?!?

In education, does a teacher not make more than a teacher's aide?!?

As a mechanic, does a mechanic with ASE accreditation in 5 areas not make more than a guy who changes tires?!?

The amount of money you make is directly commensurate with your skill set, only HALF of any job is having the required skill set, the other half is putting in the time to learn and excel @ your chosen vocation.

Keep it real, you just don't like poor people. Stop making sense and being logical bro. Paying these people $15 or more doesn't really make business sense but it just seems like it is the right thing to do.

Poor until I was 18. Scrapped to get to middle-middle class. But I'm a realest. I know it is feasible monetarily. But living in the world we live in it's not good business sense.

Fam I feel you I was just trolling and saying the stupid shit that these "sympathizers" say. These dudes do not think logically and do not understand how business works. When you state the facts they label you an elitist and say you hate poor people. Bgol is the world of the backward nigga.
