Les W - It's all good, man. Boston OUTPLAYED them for the majority of the series. Outscored them 23-8 ... had more jump/energy ... outhit them ... threw the big-name players off their game (with physicality/chippiness) ... got great efforts from the likes of Thomas, Marchand, Recchi, Lucic, and others ... and survived 3 Game 7's during the 4 rounds of the post-season. Also, they just had more offense on the whole and capitalized on their chances unlike Vancouver. Great work from them in building a lead and having a nice cushion for their goaltender (who far outplayed Luongo). Boston was down 2-0 to start the series, and 3-2 just last week. Now they're champs. Well-deserved. Full props due ^
It sure better not end up like June 14th/15th, 1994 when they lost Game 7 to NY at Madison Square Garden. Fuckin' idiots did a number on the city. Hell ... that rioting and shit even ended up on America's Most Wanted

It's pretty sad that the people downtown have resorted to a riot. GROW UP! At least the fans in the arena were mature and respectable, they cheered the Bruins and gave a few standing ovations. Vancouver Canucks gave us a good run! It's been a long time since they made it past even round 2. Be thankful they made it all the way to a Stanley Cup Game 7.

Tends to get dark around 9:30 - 9:45pm ... plenty of people hanging around and vandalizing some of the establishments. Not a good look at all (as with any sports-based riot). Fuckin' dumb. The thing that's most disturbing in life = the mob mentality. People bent on committing criminal acts (and jacked up on alcohol and anger/frustration). People were throwing bottles at the large screen(s) downtown and damaging the 25'-LED viewing area, etc. Then breaking windows and lighting a few cars on fire / tipping some over. I'm glad I don't live down there. Embarassing though as it reflects so poorly on the city (just like it did 17 years ago). Basically like any town that riots during their team's big win (OR LOSS). Hopefully with the amount of surveillance cameras, reporters, and people with their Twitter and Facebook bullshit ... more arrests can be made (than 17 years ago).

They got more downtown this evening (plus the 18,000 at the Rogers Arena). They asked one of the lead police officers if he thought it was a good idea to have the live viewing areas in the downtown core and inviting people to come down, and his reply was - "That's something you'll have to ask the city".

Credit again to the Bruins. They were by far the better team and won 4 of the final 5 games in the series. They outscored our squad 23-8, even though both teams got shut out twice apiece during the series. They held our players in check, and got solid production from their key lines. Much better goaltending as well. June 14th, 1994 and June 15th, 2011 will forever go down in infamy in the city of Vancouver ... and the most fucked-up part about it all is that the majority of the assholes doing the destruction weren't legitimate "fans", but essentially "anarchists" (as they're being painted) who knew it would be a good idea to go down there and cause mayhem with the other 100,000 + people in the downtown core. Also, a complete gift and a curse = CELLPHONE CAMERAS / DIGITAL CAMERAS & the social media age we live in. On the one hand, many of the assholes hanging around and egging on the perpetrators = people taking all the pictures / video footage. Cheering them on / NOT leaving the downtown region after hours worth of prompting from police. But on the flip side ... many of them took plenty of footage of the various crime scenes (especially given there was nearly 2 hours of daylight and tons of people weren't covering their faces as they trashed cars, businesses, and other parts of the city). Their identities are as CLEAR AS DAY as the game ended by 7:45 - 8pm PST, and it gets dark around here around 9:30 - 9:50pm'ish. I'll post a shitload of links in a few minutes from CTV and The Vancouver Sun to give ya'll a feel (to supplement some of the .GIF images from fam' yesterday) ^ in a few minutes ... both the police and local media outlets encouraged people to post their photos online, tag 'em, and also email them in to their designated police email address (ROBBERY / VPD-related) so they can create a huge database of all the bastards.
