That last play was a isolated play, in the scheme of things where the Heat was able to play small and not have to worry about rebounding and playing defense on the other end, this is the reason why they could not this way during the whole game. But playing a smaller quicker line-up in that instance created all types of nightmares for a bigger slower team especially with so many outside shooters on the floor... However defending with the quicker more athletic lineup, the Pacers main goal was to not give the Heat any wide open jump shots (just imagine the flack they would have gotten if Bosh was to pull up for a 15 footer while being guarded by a smaller guard via defense rotation) while being able to collapse in the paint..This is not a debate RR. The data clearly illustrates that the Heat avoid the paint (regardless of the time left in the game) when Hibbert is on the floor. We have YEARS of data that illustrates this. The Heat avoid the paint when Hibbert is on the floor. So you pick your poison. Would you rather a possible open jumpshot or a possible layup? The choice is simple. Vogel made the wrong choice TWICE. A more seasoned or great coach (jackson, pop, daily, etc) would not have made such a terrible choice.
You are just making up shit with "open the floor to mismatches". If that was the case, Indiana wouldnt have a +56 with Hibbert on the floor against the Heat. If Bosh would have gotten a clean look, you can live with that..especically considering he was having an off game offensively.
That bum ass nigga code said 3s dropping pleas coppin lol
Bottom line Pacers jagged that game. Fuck the last two Heat possessions. What about the careless turnovers and not being able to knock down freethrows? I hate both of these squads but for different reasons so I don't care who wins. Logic says despite my feelings Heat will prevail.
At Norris Cole "Ric Flairing" David West and Shane's UFC flying knee to Hibbert. I know one thing no Heat fan better not ever accuse other teams of being dirty.

Heat wasn't playing dirty stop
wait hold up
you think that clogging the lane is a new tactic.....or something that teams dont take into consideration ?
Offenses are built to try and create spacing.

By the way that stopping the superstar didnt work when OKC backdoor swept the spurs last year.
Why didnt he use some of that pixie dust last year?
Out of no where
Why you think the guy who put this team together quit after he won Exec of the Year. Again what did Bird say??
Then again maybe Bird was wrong. Maybe I'm full of shit. Maybe Indiana will be different than the other small market teams who had to make cost cutting trades. Maybe the Pacers will be the small market team to go over the luxury tax.
Don't be mad at me for saying Santa isn't real
Vogel's decision to not have a 7-foot-2 shot-blocking machine like Hibbert in the game for the final play was still creating plenty of buzz on Thursday, though the second-guessing seemed to not be raining on Indiana's collective mood.
given the defensive strategy on that last possession, i don't find any fault with coach vogel's decision to NOT have roy hibbert on the floor.
the pacers were in a "switch everything" mode. was roy hibbert going to be able to chase ray allen into the corner? nah.
coach spoelstra's intel on the pacer's D was better in the final play. and coach spoelstra's play call to run off the help was genius.
i went over that! lol.
i don't believe they would've switched everything.
i can see if people want to criticize coach vogel for his decision to "switch everything" (which they did, and had tyler hansbrough chasing ray allen into the corner, opening up the middle), but not his personnel choice.

C'mon BDR, Shane Battier always be on some Dennis Rodman/Bruce Bowen type tactics. He is always on the ground or flailing all over the place. Word of warning though watch Hacksborough he will be on that shit again so tell Udonis to be vigilant![]()
I wonder if Spo will remember he has Mike Miller
but i believe they go hand in hand.
he doesn't choose to switch everything then hibbert can be in the game.
he does choose to switch everything then tyler comes in.
Vogel if he were smart which he isn't would have had Hibbert on the ball for the in bounds man Battier, that would have taken away that quick cut play to the basket James made lol
so flip the discussion on it's head.
you insert roy hibbert for the final play. who is the rest of the pacers 5 on the floor?
and for the record, if i were going to have removed anyone on the floor for the pacers on that final play, it would've been sam young.
Sam took Roy's spot tho.
so flip the discussion on it's head.

just replace young with hibbert and move tyler to the inbounds pass and have him use his active energy to try and disrupt.
not really. sam young was checking ray allen on the inbounds.
sam young switched off with tyler hansbrough on the fake/brush screen.
norris cole - george hill
ray allen - david west
shane battier - tyler hansbrough
lebron james - paul george
chris bosh - roy hibbert
this is what you're suggesting.
to me, that doesn't sit right.
nah that's not how it happened.
nah that's not how it happened.
but this supports my other post about how they should have or could have played it
cole comes from the bottom. bosh is at the top shane inbounds the ball.
allen runs through to flare off at the 3. no screen set, just a touch on bosh to let him know to go.
bosh goes down. same time cole runs around bosh to the top. hill doesn't get screened so he just goes under and meets cole at the top
same time as cole gets to the top bron flashes to the top of the key and gets it.
there were 2.2 seconds left. with a direct line to the basket off of a quick cut the ball went in with 0.1 seconds left.
now if lebron has to hesitate for a second because of hibbert if he tries a layup he might not even get the shot off..
if he has to try and pass it to bosh to shoot the jumper the shot might not even get off..
if paul george doesn't grossly overplay the inbound pass he has to shoot a bunny or a fade away or a leaner....
anything other than what paul george did means the play becomes 10000x more difficult.
LBOP,
what i said is EXACTLY how it happened.
ray allen ran off the help defender: tyler hansbrough. this happened because sam young and tyler hansbrough switched ray allen for chris bosh.
it's a disguised "clear out" based on timing.
Bills your correct, but I would've though about ball denial on Lebron...
hibbert missing is just to hide the error george made.

Which is something Coach V didn't see coming.
To be honest it's was a nice play drawn up for the Heat, simple movement, that caused detractions.
I'm not letting Lebron get the ball that easy, The Knicks played him great in these situation last year during the season. Melo would deny the ball, keeping the ball outta his hand at times.
Denial for what! When is the last game winning jumper he made? If I was the coach I would have kept my big man in and worried about Ray Allen or Bosh hitting the jumper. I think they were trying to keep the ball out of Allen's hands
so flip the discussion on it's head.
