So are we going to ignore the fact that the late 70s generation and beyond, grew up hearing the term "nigga" used in a very different context than the generations who came before us? Black folks have never been equal to white folks in this country: economically, sociologically, politically, educationally, etc. White people calling us ****** or anything else derogatory was UNPROVOKED by a group of people that brought us here in chains, became rich off of us, whipped, mutilated, killed, lynched, raped, culturally robbed, severely psychologically damaged us and deprived us of any upward mobility for HUNDREDS of years.

The Klan has a long history of countless rapes, lynching, murders and other violent crimes throughout its history - supported at times by even the highest levels of government. The same cannot be said for the Nation. The two are not the same on any level - though some whites have tried to equate the two (a backhanded attempt to avoid culpability for their racism).

Here's a classic from Tribe Called Quest speaking on this issue going back to the early 90s. Nigga has changed and eventhough it has an ugly history it is now being used as a pronoun...it's the world we live in.

I get that. But i am human. And i despise them. You can despise something without allowing it to corrupt you. I've already been corrupted by living in this society. And part of that corruption is what drives my abject hatred of them. I curb it and i am a better person for it because i don't go on massive killing sprees.
