So are we going to ignore the fact that the late 70s generation and beyond, grew up hearing the term "nigga" used in a very different context than the generations who came before us? We hear it in our music, in our neighborhoods, in our barbershops, on the internet, we hear it everywhere and this is the result...it's now a generic pronoun. I liken the use of it between Black people to how women call each other bitch but flip when a man does the same. Most Black people don't trip when we call one another nigga...but when someone outside that group says it then it takes on a different connotation. You can act like this isn't the case but it is. I'm not saying it's right but it's a reality of the African-American community.

Black folks have never been equal to white folks in this country: economically, sociologically, politically, educationally, etc. White people calling us ****** or anything else derogatory was UNPROVOKED by a group of people that brought us here in chains, became rich off of us, whipped, mutilated, killed, lynched, raped, culturally robbed, severely psychologically damaged us and deprived us of any upward mobility for HUNDREDS of years.

The negative effects of such multi-generational abuse have not just magically gone away. They still exist in a very real way. A band-aid does not heal a shotgun wound.

When we, a people still living under a system of psychological slavery and white supremacy - refer to white people as CAC and so on, it is a subconscious and sometimes conscious REACTION to oppression. In some cases it may be random and it may be rude, and to a degree it may be prejudiced - but it is not RACIST, as we lack the power to commit racism against white people on any tangible, societal level.

Thus, "******" and "cracka" do not hold equal weight.

Let's say for example, on one side of things, a Nation of Islam leader was to call white folks, "white trash", "cracka" etc. - and on the other side a Ku Klux Klan grand wizard referred to all Blacks as coons, it could not be said that BOTH the Nation and the Klan are racist, terrorist organizations. The Klan has a long history of countless rapes, lynching, murders and other violent crimes throughout its history - supported at times by even the highest levels of government. The same cannot be said for the Nation. The two are not the same on any level - though some whites have tried to equate the two (a backhanded attempt to avoid culpability for their racism).

I was watching the videotaped meeting of the city council of the Buena Vista township (the white city clerk who was tape recorded calling a black public official an uppity n*gger) outside of Saginaw, Michigan. If I didn't know any better, I would think I was reading the minutes of that meeting contained in this thread.

There is no need to name call white people, as it doesn't solve problems. However, there is no need to run to their defense either. They are more than capable of forming like Voltron to protect one of their own.
