I went to the matinee after reading the leaked script earlier this year. It was disappointing that there was multiple scenes excluded from the script which surely would have changed the dynamic of this film and the perception of slavery on patrons consciousness but instead these scenes were purposely removed. A couple scenes in particular I would have like to see was when D'jango has a flashback of when the overseers from the first plantation he killed made him fuck Hildi to entertain them until they wanted some, beat D'jango ass and then took turns on her while he had to sit in the corner and watch and when they went to Leonardo Dicaprio's whore house to discuss copping a nigga fighter where they witnessed he had little black girls as young as 12 or younger entertaining white men. I was hoping this movie would be a catalyst for black people to wake the fuck up instead coons laughed, cheered and clapped in the theatre and on this board I see it was another effective tactic to lul mu-fuckas into a deeper slumber. I hated the movie. We are truly doomed unless there is some other miraculous power

And for the record, those scenes were more than likely filmed, but cut for the film to get an "R" rating, and not an "NC17"..

Aside from multiple use of ****** I think this is why ppl took issue w/ Tarantino + and this flick...this isn't Spielberg...even tho I read the script seriously speaking given Tarantino's body of work you don't have to read the script to know the movie would be moreso "entertaining" than educational...I can see this flick being a reminder for those who already know but no disrespect but I think you are deceiving yourself if you expect or hoped for a Tarantino flick of all things being an eye opener or awakener for black ppl...and I sincerely doubt that was Tarantino's intent

But how people who consider themselves intelligent people argue so vehemently against a movie they haven't even seen baffles the shit out of me. If that happened at work or school they would surely be accused of not being prepared because they hadn't studied the material for discussion, but here not so much.

And on top of that, many of these guys argued these positions against the movie BEFORE THE FUCKING MOVIE EVEN CAME OUT. So as reports came back applauding the movie, they had to be more and more dramatic in their rebuttals.

So we are now at the point that if one went to see the movie and enjoyed it, they 'BETRAYED THEIR ANCESTORS???' What the fuck? BETRAYED THEIR ANCESTORS by enjoying a FICTIONAL movie where a former slave carried himself like a man, bowed down to no one and fucked up slave owners and overseers in grand style????

I think that very well be the case or that because we don't get anything made by use that stimulates our minds we may accept anything that has somebody that looks like us.

But I do think pur major money players that have the where with all don't ...ie Oprah, Quincy, Birdman Robert Johnson Magic Johnson..

But I also don't think we we do get projects done we support them enough financially so that Hollywood would make more.

Movies like Rosewood had everything, great casts, compeeling story or our history, great production everything but overwhelming support.

I will watch this movie when ir becomes available but I won't go to a theater and add to the financial success of it.

Jamie Foxx and Kerry Washington's role in the flick were discussed ad nauseum when the flick was first announced...@ the time I don't think Sam Jackson role was announced cuz I don't remember him getting mentioned

This was my feeling on the script @ the time...according to one poster some of the scenes I mentioned may not have made it to the final version...which is a good thing...I'm a movie buff so I can't appreciate/criticize a film w/o watching it (via free dl as is the case w/ all other flicks) but I'm not gonna have any false pretenses going in...it's Tarantino and anyone familiar w/ his work knows what to expect...for better and for worse

I read the script...shit was a very fast read...actually reading the script made me realize how unoriginal Tarantino is...I've heard it mentioned before but didn't really pick up on it...the good? The relationship that develops between Django and the German bounty hunter...Django is actually an admirable character...the bad? Pretty much everything else as cats have predicted this is def some sadist white boy shit...I will call this the "role of a lifetime" for Kerry Washington...I would not be surprised if she gets an Oscar nod for this a la Halle Berry in Monster's Ball as she is raped several times thru out the flick...a mini spoiler but @ 1 point she is even in somewhat of a strange love affair w/ 1 of her masters...it's pretty disgusting...it's an ugly truth played up to be a white boy's fantasy as evident in the scene descriptions...dude describes 1 rape scene like something from a romance novel about "his white skin on her chocolate body" or something to that effect...there was also the disturbing sexual torture scenes w/ Django...again ya it was a real part of slavery but the way it's described it's like he wants these scenes to be titillating...and of course the use of the word nigger...it's expected that it would be used in the dialogue but as character descriptions??? It betrays Tarantino's intentions and let's you know where he is coming from unfortunately...in scene descriptions where he could easily say "8 slaves" he'll instead say "8 niggers" That being said I will still dl it to see how it plays out on film Kerry Washington will receive a lot of backlash for this role and Foxx may end up "guilty" by association for starring in the flick

For those who made the decision to not watch it at the theatre because you dont want to put money in Tarantino's pockets...

Why not make your moral stand a meaningful one and flat out refuse to watch the movie at all?

Is this about money or is this about your convictions?

I mean, if ya'll feel a way about Tarantino and this movie, why not take your moral stance all the way?

I find it tragic that the same cats who are making a stink about this film have not said a fucking word about the BLACK ACTORS INVOLVED.


Its like they are blaming the drug producers (studios, Tarintino) the users (black audience), but the street level cays (Fox, Jackson, Washington) get a pass.

IF ANYTHING ID FIGURE THEY'D RECIEVE THE MOST VENOM SINCE THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE 'PUSHING'. I GUESS THE "CAPITALISM/ NIGGA GOTTA EAT" RULE APPLIES.

I been saying for years that we need to boycott 'black' actors who do movies like the help and those madea films... Sam Jackson is prime example... He is a talented actor but he has been not been giving a god damn about the people he protrays... which is fine for him he doesn't draw 'black' folks like say a Denzel or a Halle... he is mostly doing token or shoe shine roles for 'white' audiences
