Just saw Django [MERGED~> !SPOILER ALERT!]

Re: Just saw Django [MERGED]

Cant run out and support it ...simply cause its a slave movie

I remember being highly pissed in here just a week ago about
half the board crying about racism and white people.

REMEMBER???

A week later look ...people running to support a slave movie.

And calling Spike Lee a hater for speaking on Q.T. running the N word.

WOW

I will always love but NEVER understand niggas.

But please at least acknowledge the fact yall support the shit yall claim to hate so much.

Only thing im tripping off is niggas running to see it.

Its comedy cause yall swear yall hate some CACS as yall call them.

But many instances where niggas will run to support their shit.

Even a slave movie. (with a twist :hmm:)

Niggas wont even support their favorite rap artist these days.

Shit is like the TWILIGHT ZONE to me....Im looking around like "wtf this cant be happening".

This shit is totally fucking AMAZING TO ME.

I dont even say the word cac and im like WTF?

I starting to think yall are bots.
ALL THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
watch the movie and realize how silly you sound. wht folks were the ones uncomfortable afterwArds

I know how silly sound ... my ego ain't involved on this board... someone could ock me to OBLIVION tomorrow ... why would I care about sounding/looking 'silly' in a movie thread

Anyways to your point ... I don't need to pay $17.99 or catch a matinee to make 'white folks uncomfortable' .... if I got off on that I would use all these big ass words I got in this big ass head of mine... and/or wear a nicely tailored suit and tie 24/7
(pause no acur )

Re: Just saw django

I went to the matinee after reading the leaked script earlier this year. It was disappointing that there was multiple scenes excluded from the script which surely would have changed the dynamic of this film and the perception of slavery on patrons consciousness but instead these scenes were purposely removed. A couple scenes in particular I would have like to see was when D'jango has a flashback of when the overseers from the first plantation he killed made him fuck Hildi to entertain them until they wanted some, beat D'jango ass and then took turns on her while he had to sit in the corner and watch and when they went to Leonardo Dicaprio's whore house to discuss copping a nigga fighter where they witnessed he had little black girls as young as 12 or younger entertaining white men. I was hoping this movie would be a catalyst for black people to wake the fuck up instead coons laughed, cheered and clapped in the theatre and on this board I see it was another effective tactic to lul mu-fuckas into a deeper slumber. I hated the movie. We are truly doomed unless there is some other miraculous power
It 2012 soon to 2013 and black people are clapping at white people calling black people ****** on the big screen black people are sleep.

Re: Just saw django

If your a Jamie Foxx or QT fan go see it. I saw it, and agree that the N word is used a lot (I stopped counting at 30). It could have been used more for the period the movie was set in. If you can get past that, you will be sure to enjoy the movie. It was almost 3 hours long and you won't notice it. Can't wait till the Blu Ray is released and hopefully some sequels. I would even recommend Spike Lee rethink seeing it. Everyone has an opinion and I respect that. If you let someone else decide that you shouldn't see it then don't...

Re: Just saw django

Aside from multiple use of ****** I think this is why ppl took issue w/ Tarantino + and this flick...this isn't Spielberg...even tho I read the script seriously speaking given Tarantino's body of work you don't have to read the script to know the movie would be moreso "entertaining" than educational...I can see this flick being a reminder for those who already know but no disrespect but I think you are deceiving yourself if you expect or hoped for a Tarantino flick of all things being an eye opener or awakener for black ppl...and I sincerely doubt that was Tarantino's intent

Your absolutely correct on 100% of what you wrote but one could still hope. Evidently the powers that be felt it was in the controlling majorities best interest to eliminate certain sensitive scenes from the script. Sometimes I forget that they haven't gotten where they are today by being foolish. My optimism and hopes oftentimes result in anger and disappointment. Apologies to those I may have offended

Re: Just saw Django [MERGED]

Man this shit is getting scary and I want no parts.

Im going back to watching some videos on ascension / higher consciousness.

This shit is painful but there is obviously nothing anyone can do.

What you do and focus on within the next 6 months is so crucial.

Bye...im going back to lurking and being very selective about threads if anything.

I'm glad those scenes you mentioned earlier were left out...visually they would've been to much to see...and I suspect the intention would not have been historical accuracy

Re: Just Got Back from Seeing Django Unchained...

You just have to see it man.. That's all I can say.. Every Black person that's seen it, and I've talked to feels the same way about it. What he was saying was presented as scientific FACT, and you have CACs today that probably still believe this bullshit..

I DID see it. It was "presented as scientific fact" because white folks thought they knew the science of blacks during those times. I think this is more about your own issues than QT actually being a racist. If you know your history, white folks really did believe that bullshit back then, don't blame QT for accurately representing the ignorance of the times. Is QT a racist for showing whites call the slaves ******s too?

Re: Just saw django

l enjoyed the movie. l was expecting a typical Tarantino movie and that's what it was. l wanted it to be comprable to lnglorious Basterds and it was in my opinion.

l'm a big Spike Lee fan and l will remain one. One thing l will say is, after Mel Gibson's "The Patriot," folks complained that Mel danced around the slavery topic and said it wasn't realistic. Now folks are complaining that the N word is used in a movie where slavery is the center theme.....

l enjoyed the movie a lot.

I get some brothas don't want to see this for there own reasons but I don't get what some of y'all are preaching about or downing another brotha for seeing or wanting to see the film.

How can one movie make prejudice & biased CACs feel threatened and get them pissed when I go to a general forum that's populated mostly by whites. Then come here and see brothas pissed and upset about the film as well. lol

There are whites pissed about this film making whites look bad and brothas are pissed that this film makes whites happy when that hasn't seemed to be the case.

The N-word is apparently not as strong as some of you are wanting to believe it is.
Killing white >>>>>> whites saying the n-word.

I guess your blind to the exploitation. This is in essence an exploitation flick. If your cool with the pain and history of your ancestors being pimped so QT can make more millions then your the kind of sheep he made the film for. It's not a history lesson (unless you don't know your history). For you few sad brothers who think killing a bunch of white slave owners (in a movie AKA the shit ain't real) makes you feel better about slavery I honestly feel sorry for you. It's a movie about slavery made by a whiteman, a movie with no historical or cultural significance. The only thing you sad fools like about it is the violence. And for that virtual thrill your willing to sell out your ancestors. That to me is what's sad.

This part made me uncomfortable also.....cause it was presented as fact......

Also it seems like the mostly white theater felt as if they were far removed from this history as if it has nothing to do with them.....

Gotta be careful about that.........

Racism or not......there is an issue with presented it as scientific fact.....a big issue cause white folks will believe it....esp in the areas that down t interact with a lot of blacks

Selling out your ancestors......very strong wording......after seeing the flick......way too strong wording.

It wasn't really like that if you see it......outside of the whole n word floating around as much as the word and did....

The whole boycotting of something like this is extra....very extra.

ETA: it was on the whole black exploitation theme....but name one QT flick that is not on an old type theme......

So why don't you brothas go to some general movie forums like imdb or whatever and tell those upset & angry white people just how good they should feel about the movie then. Or maybe you and those angry cacs can bond together and cry about how the film upsets the both of y'all in unison somehow. I'dunno, but either way you don't seem to understand those same whites you think are getting some thrills out of the movie actually think we come out ahead in this film. You and the other angry brothas really don't seem to see the irony behind all of this.

Why do they bleep "World trade towers" on Biggie's One More Chance after 9-11 when playing it on radio?

Why do they blur out images of the twin towers in movies?

Therein lies your answer.

You don't use historically painful events for entertainment.

That's a non-no

So if it's Black Exploitation about slavery (like every QT flick). And your black (maybe). And you paid money to see it. Your patronage means your selling out the history of your ancestors for a cheap movie thrill. Why .... Because its exploitation. This ain't rocket science. Just step back and realize you put money in a white man's pocket to tell you a fictional story using the real history of your ancestors as a reason for excessive gratuitous violence. It ain't about the N word for me it's about slavery being pimped to sell movie tickets.

Re: Just saw Django [MERGED]

...and anybody that saw my first post about this film I was actually siding more so with the upset crowd. But after release and seeing so many brothas who saw it giving it thumbs up while whites seemed less enthusiastic about it (aside from a few level-headed ones)...well, it is what it is. Stop trying to hold on to this thought of wanting it to be one way when it's a completely other way.

Interesting viewpoint.

So what do you think about "Good bye Uncle Tom" which claims to be accurate. Would you consider it in 'poor taste' if it is an accurate portrayal?

Or how about Alex Haley's Roots or Mandingo. Historical Is it OK for our past to be pimped by our own?

Because it seems like either cats are pist that either....

A. A film about slavery is made by a white man and is used as an excuse to be racist.

B. A film is being made about slavery in general and being made in good taste. Which I find odd case I don't know what a tastefully done slavery movie is...We still were slaves.

C. Blacks folks want to see it and think the idea of having to go through 2/3 of nigga shit to get to 1/3 of white killing is disingenuous and a burden not worth baring.

D. Spike said it was fucked up so fucked up it is...

Just curious.

Oh and I see cats going in on, Tarintino, and any black person who has seen it or wants to see at....

YET I HAVE NOT HEARD ONE MOTHERFUCKER ON THIS BOARD WHO HAS BEEF WITH THIS FILM GO IN ON JAMIE FOXX, SAMUEL L JACKSON, OR KERRY WASHINGTON? WHY NOT???? 1. I don't care how white people feel about this movie or slavery in general.

2. I'm only concerned with my people and it's sad that my people would spend money to allow their history to be pimped. It shows that they have forgot their history. Or have disconnected themselves from their ancestors. Either situation needs to be enlightened in a black forum.

Slavery is painful for me. I have a deep love for my ancestors and my race. I will not support their history being pimped. If you enjoyed watching a slave movie ask yourself why. Every slave movie I have ever seen made me sad and angry. If Django entertained you as a black person you might need to go back and study your history a little more. Ain't shit entertaining about slavery.

It's there money and if it's being "pimped" then every movie ever made is a pimp job. There's nothing worth arguing about on this bullshit. Me, I don't go to the movies, I'm just saying let people live if they wanna see the shit it ain't a history lesson or trying to sale itself as one.

If people want to see cuz they feel it's a good revenge twist on slavery, so be it. If people don't want to see it cuz they don't want to see slavery from that or any point of view, so be it as well. People like QT films and some people have interest in the plot for a reason. Ain't nothing to preach about.

Maybe because they were historically inaccurate? I seriously doubt that a bunch of CAC slaveowners would take sloppy seconds on a slave FROM a slave. I mean think about it. As for the 13 year old girls, I gotta admit that sounds likely, but putting such a scene in a movie would be problematic in view of current attitudes on kiddie porn. But sloppy seconds from Django? I doubt it. That would be a gratuitous fueling of some strange man's fantasy with no historical basis IMO.

Good point.

To pimp means to exploit. Presenting your history is not pimping its eductaion. Both films you mentioned were tragedies people weren't cheering at the end they were sad because it was real and slavery was sad.

Minus the racial overtones if this was just a straight ultra-violent movie like most qt flicks many people would be flipping out because of Newtown. The slavery aspect legitimizes the violence. This is the exploitation. The violence is fantasy the slavery is real. That's pimping real slavery to sell virtual violence.

I would be upset at whoever tried to make a feel good slave film unless it's real. Show me toussaint louverture epic that's real and I'll go see it because it's not about entertainment its about history. The media of film can be used in many ways. If we educate ourselves better we will better tell the real from the bullshit.

I didn't enjoy roots or goodbye uncle tom but I respected the films.
