Jamie foxx is django

No...it's a Tarantino movie. He likes throwing the word around anyway, and of course in the time period of the movie he's going to do it a lot.

Yeah, I heard that word every two minutes in Reservoir Dogs, the two Kill Bills, Death Proof and Inglourious Basterds (where the hero was black).

Go talk to Sam Jackson, Pam Grier and Ving Rhames about the other two classic films.

No one said it's in every film (but yes he used in in Reservoir Dogs). And just because those two actors you mentioned had no problem with it that doesn't mean other people who do have a problem with it can't express their viewpoint.

Collateral
The Kingdom
That thriller where he played a lawyer
That flick with him and Robert Downey where he's a schizo cellist or something
Probably forgetting some others...

All of which were disappointing, 'cept the supporting role in the first and in Jarhead.

You'd have to explain to those ACTORS and to others why that word WASN'T appropriate for those particular characters.

You can "have a problem with it," but it makes no sense, especially when you consider how GREAT these black LEAD roles are compared to the garbage some black directors put out, using THAT word and countless other sexist, homophobic and bigoted slurs. Spike Lee is the master of offensive bigoted language, and his movies aren't a fraction as good.

I never said I was the one who necessarily had the problem with it...just that some people obviously do. Just like you feel free to say whatever you want...so can they.

And "great" is subjective. To you Tarantino is obviously the greatest filmmaker ever. To others (like myself) he isn't. He has a couple good movies and some shitty ones too.

Also  at Collateral being a "supporting" role for Foxx but Rhames and Jackson being "lead" roles. :hmm:

Here's a link to the script...changed the cover so it look nice in your ereader/tablet cuz he had a handwritten cover that looked cheesy

Thanks cause I wanna see if it really is Gran Torino with faggotry like people in the thread make it seem.

I never read a movie script before...and his shit is usually dialogue driven so it should be a good easy read

It's actually a very good script; how it translates to screen will be interesting. Certain things dialogue and scene wise may be changed when they start shooting because Quentin welcomes feedback from actors on how a scene or part of dialogue can be made better.

Ya I look forward to reading it granted it's a controversial topic...but I have been a fan of his past shit...worst case scenario I get offended and delete it...

Kevin Costner Joins the Django Unchained Cast

Here’s some Django Unchained news from out of left field: Kevin Costner will be joining the cast as Ace Woody, a sadistic slave trainer who works for Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Deadline, who got this exclusive on this news, describes Costner’s role as follows:

Ace Woody is the one who pits the “mandingo” fighters against one another, and has little qualms about mistreating and even killing the slaves who don’t measure up. The roles that DiCaprio and Costner will play are every bit as sadistic as the one that Waltz played in Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds

Kevin Costner’s role and involvement in the film is being compared to the comeback John Travolta made in Pulp Fiction. I personally think it’s a bit premature to making such statements, especially without having actually seen the film, but this is quite an unusual role for Costner, who typically plays “the good guy”.

Yeah, that whole Leo gets over on the heartthrob thing is bullshit. Homeboy ain't even on these young chicks radar anymore. His acting is excellent. There were only two roles where I could say Jamie was great in and they were Ray and Collateral. I think we overrate him a lil bit. I can't watch the Soloist without laughing.

You trying to say Booty Call wasn't a Grammy Award Winning movie? Nigga did you see Held up...dude should have got two oscars for that masterpiece....:hmm:

I read the script...shit was a very fast read...actually reading the script made me realize how unoriginal Tarantino is...I've heard it mentioned before but didn't really pick up on it...the good? The relationship that develops between Django and the German bounty hunter...Django is actually an admirable character...the bad? Pretty much everything else as cats have predicted this is def some sadist white boy shit...I will call this the "role of a lifetime" for Kerry Washington...I would not be surprised if she gets an Oscar nod for this a la Halle Berry in Monster's Ball as she is raped several times thru out the flick...a mini spoiler but @ 1 point she is even in somewhat of a strange love affair w/ 1 of her masters...it's pretty disgusting...it's an ugly truth played up to be a white boy's fantasy as evident in the scene descriptions...dude describes 1 rape scene like something from a romance novel about "his white skin on her chocolate body" or something to that effect...there was also the disturbing sexual torture scenes w/ Django...again ya it was a real part of slavery but the way it's described it's like he wants these scenes to be titillating...and of course the use of the word nigger...it's expected that it would be used in the dialogue but as character descriptions??? It betrays Tarantino's intentions and let's you know where he is coming from unfortunately...in scene descriptions where he could easily say "8 slaves" he'll instead say "8 niggers":lol: That being said I will still dl it to see how it plays out on film :dunno: Kerry Washington will receive a lot of backlash for this role and Foxx may end up "guilty" by association for starring in the flick

After seeing him in Luther, I'm not too sure about that. Dudes really impressed me.

Rather see Chiwetel Ejiofor than Jamie

Given the comedic element/nature of Tarantino flicks and the witty banter Jamie Foxx is not a bad choice...Idris and Chi I'm suspecting have too much pride and talent to star in a film such as this...I'm surprised Tarantino had the balls to even ask Will Smith to do this flick...I'm kinda surprised Dicaprio is in it...he's a slightly above average actor imo but I @ least always gave him props on the movies/roles he chooses to accept...this is a bit of a gamble tho
