lets look at gabrielle union, nia long, and regina king. how many blockbuster movie offers have they gotten that weren't basically black movies?

Anne Hathaway is pretty good. I certainly wouldn't take Nia Long or Gabrielle Union over her based solely on ability. As for Blake Lively, I don't think anybody considers her anything more than a pretty face/fashion icon. She's certainly not an A-list actress who gets to play great roles.

I do agree that it's sad that black actors rarely get to have great careers where they consistently get to take on interesting/quality roles.

Take Channing Tatum, for example. He's finally rounding into a decent leading man, but if he were back he would've never got as many chances as he has.

I think the "pretty girl" portion of his answer is separate from the dark skinned part. He is saying that if she depends on looks, she will have a shelf life. As for Denzel not owning a studio or production company, I used to feel the same way until I saw how much hell George Lucas went thru to get Red Tails out. Even though it was a bad movie, Lucas should not have had to use his own money to get it out. He's made billions for Hollywood. Denzel probably realized that its too much heartache involved in trying run anything like that. He and Spike could not even get funding for Inside Man 2. Not that they can't act as well, but I have seen most of what all of them have done and they have not even done the type of shit Ann has and until they do, we have no way of telling.
