Sooo.....I made the switch to the S3...

Ok, so I found something I'm not sure I'm comfortable with, but I'm sure you freaks will like it.

My niece is here visiting from college and she's on her laptop, and I was using my phone to send my daughter a picture and I went to my gallery and I noticed it had picked up ALL MY nieces pictures from her laptop....

I didn't tell her because I didn't want to make her uncomfortable, but how did this happen? Is it because she's connected to our wifi?

And how the hell do I prevent this from happening?

Check to see if she logged in using your phone that could be what happened.

Yea, the Galaxy S3 is just like a computer. So if her pictures on her laptop are already set to be shared & she connects to your wifi, then you can see the pics from your phone or other computers. On my GS3, if I go to "Gallery app", then "Menu button", then "Scan for nearby devices", it will show the pics from my computer that's connected via wifi.

From within the gallery app, if you press the "menu button", then select "View by", then select "Content in device", it will only show the pics on your phone. Hope that helps.

Anything set to be shared by ur PC will be picked up by your SGS3. I even see my directv receivers in it. I think you can disable it under settings/more settings and then scroll down to "Nearby devices".

Ok I have to post about the battery life. I took it off charge about 7 this morning played pandora all day, texted, talked, surfed this board, emailed, went to dinner, let niece play games on it and I'm just putting my phone on charge because it's at 23 percent, if that's not good battery life then maybe I'm confused on what's good.

 This is my 3rd android phone and it has the best battery life of any of them. It definitely is the best android phone on the market right now.

This was amongst my biggest concern. Also, recently I've been messing with Google calendar to keep my schedules. It's nice..my last remaining concern is Itunes. Does anyone know of a similar supported fo] Android? Specifically one that allows you to listen to Podcast

For podcasts/video podcasts:

without a doubt the best on the market, works great and looks GREAT...

not sure about your other question on itunes, you mean taking your itunes library and playing them? or maybe an all in one player?

Okay,

Sounds like that might work. Where's the best place to actually get either of these phones? Is there a difference between say, the "sprint store", bestbuy or amazon online?

Ok, I got a white one today and I already put the sales guy on notice that I will return it if I don't like it. We agreed that he will not charge me a restock fee if I return it for the Iphone 5

So far, it's different from the iphone but nothing difficult as they say. It's definitely liberating to be able to do stuff than the restrictive Iphone.
Yeah battery life is suspect. I bought it with 55% battery at 1pm and it was at 20% by 6pm without any usage:hmm:

Time will tell:cool:

Anyone know how to get videos to play on their phones via allshare, wi-fi, dlna..etc... I'm able to view the pics and and listen to the music with no problem but none of the vids will play. Even the vids from the phone i put on the computer won't play when i try to play them back on my phone

Add me to the list of new SIII users. Got mine yesterday. Battery concern was an issue with me also so I've been putting it to a test. I fully charged my phone after I got home yesterday then unplugged it at around 11 p.m. last night. As of 7:05 p.m. today it was at 20% with moderate to semi-heavy usage (I picked it up to text, and play with it for a few minutes like every half hour but no phone calls yet). Wifi has been on all day. I went to my favorite diner this morning for breakfast and surfed the web on my S3 the entire time I was there. If there is still some juice left in it at 11 p.m. tonight (a full 24 hours) I will be impressed considering the screen size and brightness.

I really really like this phone. I keep looking for features to play with. I had all the gesture functions activated but then I found myself feeling weird flicking and tilting it every so often. Downloaded and installed 35 apps (again this is without being charged) and I almost have it to my liking.

I notice that's the only thing that eats up the battery is the display you got much more realstate than the iPhone 5:yes: so I advise you to turn it down little less than half and adjust it in times where you need more light  and Im quite sure your not going to root being that your test running it buf if you give the phone an honest chance im quite sure you'll soon be rooted ...

free or paid apps?

I missed the "Phone Age".....so help me out.

If I buy the Samsung Galaxy S3 myself, can i use it on Tmobile's
"$30 dollars a month, Unlimited Web & Text with 100 Minutes Talk" plan
....Or are those type of plans limited to only using "old" phones?
Not trying to pay a gazillion dollars a month or be in a contract, but do want to use the latest phone(s).

Yes you can but im not sure its $30 dollars  I pay $60 a month unlimited text calls and unlimited 2gb web they do have $30 dollar plans but I think that's just 100 mb internet call and text. I bougbt my phone on contract then canceled it paid the cancel fee and got my phone cheaper than buying it out right.

There are podcast apps. The two most popular ones are BeyondPod and Pocket Casts. I prefer Pocket Cast because you can map the podcast to save to your external SD card.

I'm sure free. The only app, I've paid for is tapatalk.

Something I notice today while listening to music on S3 with any kind of headphones the volume is not as loud as the iphone or ipod.

it comes with an eq so utilize that and set it to how you like your music to sound. I stream my music through Google Music and have my EQ set up perfectly, sounds great even on the standard headphones that sammy puts in with the S3...

I was just saying Friday I wonder if it does. I will have to find it, thanks for the info.

Another reason I'm loving it, it's giving me the option to adjust to my liking.
