Sooo.....I made the switch to the S3...

Perhaps it depends on what "batch" of phones you got.

Battery is only as good as the strength of your signal. When I'm at work, my signal is shit and my battery will drain fast especially streaming music and radio. Once I get outside, it's fine. Anyone who works at a computer shouldn't have any issues getting a cheap usb cord.

Considering that all my Iphones have been very good on battery life but I have heard many stories of S3s been bad on battery, then it would make sense for me to pull back on the s3.

SIII's or Android in general because i haven't heard of many people complaining about battery life on the SIII. Of course if you're on LTE all day, it'll drain.

The GS3 like most LTE phones is always searching for an LTE signal. If your signal is weak it will destroy your battery life.

Okay. I personally love Itunes, specifically for the Pod-Cast! Also, considering I'm always scheduling things on my Phones Calendar(HTC EVO) it would be nice to be able to do that through the computer and Vice-versa!

Right Now:

1) Tremendous Battery Life
2) Total integration w/ computer(MacBook Pro)
3) Never owning a non-base Android phone

Is making me lean more towards an Iphone.
There are several podcasts apps where you can download the same podcasts that you listen to.

Yea I got chargers hooked up everywhere too it just sucks having to always charge it when I never charged my iPhone

Funny

The battery life can be decent. On my Galaxy Nexus, I have the stock power widget on one my home screens. During normal daily use, I only have 2 items on...sync...and auto brightness. I leave wi-fi, gps, and bluetooth off unless i am using them. With low to moderate usage, I am getting 24 hrs or so out of a charge. I turn on location when i need to use Google Maps Navigation, and I turn on Bluetooth when pairing to my headset. I very rarely use wi-fi.

Is an app killer necessary to preserve battery life? If so what's recommended?

For the life of me I can't understand why some people have an issue with battery life on the GS3. I'm on it a lot, and also use it as a hot spot when I'm at work for internet connection and have no issues at all with the battery life?

My battery life sucks on my S3...anyone got any tips or whatever to try to increase the life on it?? I was on the phone the other day for 20mins and lost 10% battery

When I first got my S3 I used the available battery until it ran all the way down. I got it at around 1pm and it finally died at around midninght. That was with the usual heavy use after first getting a new phone. I then put it on the charger so that it would charge completely over night. My phone lasts all day without a charge no matter what I'm doing. GPS is always on, bluetooth is off and wifi is on automatic. I keep screen brightness at about 90%.

Then yours may be defective. I have one and my battery life is outstanding. I can easily get through the entire day without a charge.

I'd be MAD as hell if I had to have an iPhone over the S3! I had the iPhone from 07-10 and then made the switch to the EVO....and unless they make radical changes and get caught up with the times, I'd never go back! Especially dealing having to sync it with iTunes. The S3 is so far superior in just about every way.

But if anyone is contemplating it, if you still want that stale and boring user experience...go with the iPhone

Wait to see how the 5 does with LTE.

That's the motherfucking kicker right there. LTE sucks battery life up like no other. It and the screen brightness are the two primary reasons battery life goes down so fast on Android phones. Apple people probably aren't used to this because they've never had LTE before. I can almost guarantee you that IP5 users will be complaining about the battery life once they experience LTE.

Just do like I do and disable LTE when you don't need it and lower the screen brightness. Battery life will improve after performing those two steps. If you're looking to go one step further install a CPU governor app like "CPU Tuner". This will automatically throttle down your CPU speed based on certain factors like if your phone is idle, since you don't need your processor running at full speed when you're not doing nothing on the phone anyways. Governor apps require root access, but it's just another method of controlling battery consumption.

Is an app killer necessary to preserve battery life? If so what's recommended?

I recommend ZD Box. It's made by one of the guys over at XDA and it's like 7 tools in one app. That's the best app killer combination that I know of. Even has a widget for showing you how many apps are running in the background and how much RAM they are using. Can't go back to the others after I used it.

That's not a bad trade Coco to only pay $23.

Well keep us informed on your experience switching from iOS (iPhone) to Android (S3)

Did you maintain the same plan? Did they make you switch your data plan?

I still have the unlimited data plan and don't want to lose it.

Anyways my CocoBeauty :sleazy:...Keep us informed my lady :D

That BestBuy deal to get $210 is tempting, but I'm not goona fall for it.

Sticking to the iPhone4 for now.

really good analysis...

Final verdict
If we had to recommend just one handset of the three based on these specs right now,
we would (narrowly) choose the iPhone 5.
Here's why: Out of these three phones, the iPhone 5 isn't the most innovative, but it is a reliable, intuitive package that earns top points for software and hardware reliability. Solid, strong design, LTE speed, and a proven camera that just gets better and better meets iTunes and app store robustness and the new iOS with turn-by-turn voice navigation.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a ton of really neat, innovative new features, but it also has far more trip-ups, which make for a less smooth experience overall. We still love the GS3, but the rich, highly customizable Android 4.0 interface is too much for some users, and many of Samsung's innovations, especially in content-sharing, are more complicated to use and not very universal.

We're also very excited to review the Lumia 920, which offers NFC, wireless charging, and promises of a gorgeous display. However, we're less enamored of Nokia maps, getting multimedia still isn't as robust as iOS or Android, and there's a question hanging over the camera, a major selling point for us. We'd also like to see how well wireless charging works; a stumble here would be a major stumble indeed.

Never understood that as being a downside of Android...what person doesn't like customization of the products they own. Nobody wants something that looks exactly like what everybody else has.

I was able to grandfather into my unlimited everything plan, data included, because that was a major concern also.

Also unless you are using WiFi turn it off.

My S3 has great battery life. I listen to XMradio on the train on the way to work and watch a documentary or movie on the way home and still have at least 70 %..

I use free advanced app killer and let it kill background shit automatically .

Weight (oz) 3.95 4.69
Battery (mAh) Unknown 2100
Talk time (min) 480 (3G) 700 (3G)
Standby time (hr) 225 790

first number is iphone 5and second is s3....talk time was done under 3g and not 4 g

Is it by rechild?

If anything, I will like to try the S3 out for at least a week before I really decide to switch.

Fucking that noise. 12 hour shift on WiFi battery cool then a mug. Apple fanboys love being told what to do by daddy Jobs. Running y'all from the grave

ive had my S3 since it first came out and ive gone a whole day (7am-8:30pm}on a full charge and then some. thats with wifi and all types of apps in the background.

you can't really pay attention to people complaining about battery life UNLESS they tell you which carrier they're using, what apps they're running, their signal strength... on wifi, regular internet, or LTE.

if you have a shitty carrier (see t-mobile) and you're streaming movies or music on LTE + RUNNING other apps and multi-tasking, your battery will be dead, quick.

if you're on wifi with AT&T, listening to music and NOT doing shit else, your battery will perform differently.

 and 70% on the battery gauge still looks like its almost fully charged!
