Alex, resend the PM, my PM box was full when I tried to send a PM, deleted yours thinking i could remember it, but now I can't.

I cleared a little room.

Sorry about that, resend please.

Edit, it was about Liberia but I don't remember the angle the question took.

bruh, life originated in africa this is not a secret or anything deep or profound...
Its not exactly regularly publicized, generally accepted, or commonly known either.

but this was a stream of conscience rant...how did she go from that to saying "get rich or die trying" is evil?
You just answered your own question.

do you think that will sit well w/younger black folks?
Not sure. But her audience wasnt limited to younger black folk. You must have missed the majority of her "rant" where she was clearly addressing hatemongering whites.

i don't even listen to that music she is criticizing - do you?
Her comments about rap music made up about 3% of her entire communication, yet it makes up about 70% of your response. You have issues bro.

- which is why it will be laughed at and ignored.

she basically called hip hop disposable and evil (while praising black music of the past).

that shit won't fly w/the masses...at least not w/black folks.

at the end of the day alot of hiphop (even the shit some of us like) is destructive compared to music of the 70's and before that was mostly about building instead of tearing things down.

doesnt mean the whole world is gonna stop listening to it but its good to step back and add some perspective to shit sometimes.

like... i like listening to rap battles... i like the hunger and the competition but i cant really front on the fact that 2 cats that are probably friends talking about all the ways they can kill each other and each others families for 30 minutes isnt a lil disturbing. u have to take 1/2 a step back and look at it for a minute to really recognize that though. thats what her letter is...

- uhhmm...just about every other university in america teaches that life originated in africa

You just answered your own question.

- huh?

- bruh, i was speaking to the part about hip hop...that shit won't fly is all i'm saying.

- nigga if you're dumbass is really sitting there thinking that anybody white, is reading that with tears flowing over this letter as the 'CISM exits their bodies, YOU are the one w/issues...

again - i get the spirit of the letter, but it is a stream of conscience rant that in some places gets nonsensical and strange - especially near the end.

but if u loved it, so be it. if this inspires you to stop calling white people CRACKERS, then run with it bruh. seriously.

Yo fuck C.Powell on this one. She dropped so much truth that its not even funny. It needs to be read in it's entirety.

Kinda sad that this ether that we all needed comes from a baldheaded irish white woman. Shit, she has more pride in black america than many of you.

I wanted to find a part that I could call bullshit but I couldnt.

Great post.

You've been lied to so long that you dont recognize the unaltered truth when you see it.

She is speaking to some of the posters on bgol too.......

:smh::smh::smh:

Big drop addressing the root of the problem

Damn, that was deep

This open letter by the crazy old fat gay bald chick means more and took more effort than wearing a hood :dunno:

Like I always say, not all white people are built the same, just like not all black people...as proven by this board

But hey, she's still just a crazy fat CAC, right

:yes::yes::yes:

- i get that and I agree

but when i saw this, i wasn't expecting an anti-hip hop rant...

she's right, i just don't see the connection between trayvon martin and the points she is making about our music...

- uhhmm...just about every other university in america teaches that life originated in africa
And every university in america teaches physics too. That doesnt speak to the subject being common knowledge to the masses.

Read it again. It will eventually sink in.

Fly with who? You seem to be the only idiot focusing on those two sentences with laser like concentration.

Im not really concerned with what whites think. But clearly you are.

Again you prove my point. The truth is so foreign to you that you describe it as "strange".

but if u loved it, so be it. if this inspires you to stop calling white people CRACKERS, then run with it bruh. seriously.
You do realize that you're the only one who keeps mentioning white people right?

Peace and I actually wish these murderous savages in Philly would read this, cuz all they kill are black people

good read
the message is clear stop being disappointed in who said what
lots of black people have spoken up and talked about the injustice including athletes and celebrities.

the letter she wrote is more effective in a sense only because she is white, and its proven that white people don't listen to black people...they only listen to other white people. so we shouldn't diminish what others have done, simply because they couldn't do what she just based solely on the color of our skin.

if oprah said this, white people would dismiss it as her just spewing propaganda as a black woman

when sinead o'connor says it, regardless of how they act on the outside, on the inside they have to look at themselves and listen to some cold truths.

i commend her and everyone else who is speaking up about this, what i don't commend is the justice system

the line that people who have the upper hand is always " the system works"

i think most recently, grant and not martin would totally disagree.

the system has never worked for us it isn't designed to, and it took some tragic circumstances for us to see this.

i mean the civil rights movement was because the system wasn't designed for us and we couldn't take it any further..my parents marched and protested to share basic equalities. now we need to push for a better change.

we need to realize that everybody talking about racism and white supremacy (kefts, kaya) isn't a crackpot or militant and should be taken seriously. the reason they say what they say is because it needs to be heard and beaten into our brains so that we get it.
when the system changed from its overt nature we forgot about things, we got complacent and relaxed. we didn't think that the covert would be just as bad and in most cases even worse.

unfortunately it has taken and overt action for us to wake up somewhat and be alarmed...but the problem with this entire case and the system itself is the covert status. how the police department covered this up and helped him, how the law in a sense was covert because up until this incident most of us including myself outside of florida didn't even know the law existed.

im just one person and i know everybody feels that way too, but if we support each other and share ideas and really work together for common goals we can get them done, stop being picky and start picketing.
stop choosing HOW you want to take up a cause, and actually do something to take it up. if you keep waiting for something that fits your mold or exactly what you want to do, chances are you won't be doing anything.

she's right, i just don't see the connection between trayvon martin and the points she is making about our music...

the letter wasnt just about trayvon. it was about this...
If you hate black people, its yourself you hate.

and that applies to black people too. thats why she touched on the negativity in our music and the hate some of us seem to have for one another.

she wasnt overselling anything, cats just aint used to a non black person talking about our struggle/issues from a place of compassion and genuine respect.

so why couldnt you quote what I said? I said the same shit

Here's all you need to read.

That part is pure truth. If she would have stopped there it would have been the most pure honesty that a celebrity of any kind has spoken or written in a long while. But as you keep reading even Colin Powell would have to see the light, whether he wanted to or not. He would have been drawn in to it unable to deny it. Good, no, amazing read.

So we care about Sinead Oconnors opinion now? I thought we were still making fun of her for being fat.

Yeah, she is still bald and fat, and she is still funny looking. If your gut it that big that it looks as if you consumed a bowling ball, you should not be wearing shirts to expose that hideous sight.

That was a beautiful letter

Amen

I concur, sir. And so does Denzel

"the hate some of us seem to have for one another"

I think that part hit a nerve with him.

Basically cats try too hard to be obtuse sometimes :smh:

If you are unable to decipher when it's time to laugh compared to when its
time to be serious, then you're as dumb as that CAC who's digging you.

I agree that something like this is better served coming from a nonblack person.
