I have a confession to make. I am highly suspicious of white people. By default I think they have their own interests in mind. That's just how I look at the world. Not saying it's wrong or right, that's just how I see things.
What I have issue with is how eager we have become for validation of shit that we know is true and how quick we are to pat white people on the back for doing/saying what is right. Ok, the murder of Trayvon was a tragedy. Ok, we appreciate your support. Now stop right there. Bitch you ain't in the circle. It takes more than a couple of "right on's" to get in the circle.
I was watching this movie about how during the American Revolution the British came over and asked the indians to help fight the Americans because they deserved their land back. Yea, the shit was true, but look how that turned out.
theres no validation seeking since we never asked Sinaed or any non black person for any compliment or acknowledgement. BUT if they want to say complimentary things or acknowledge the struggle then fine.
Did black folks wait for white approval to start the movement for Trayvon? Did Blacks wait for approval from whites to start the civil rights movement? The fact that these things and more have happened demonstrates that blacks aren't looking for daddy white man to pat us on the head in order to make things right.
Also believe it or not (and you may not) there are some nonblacks who actually WANT to be friends and allies to us in the world.
