Actually I think after scarface he's continued to play the same yell when talking guy in every movie. He had range when he started out but he doesn't have to do that anymore so he doesnt. That's the same thing with a lot of actors after they've reached a certain level of success. All they do is the same character in different movies because they are movie stars and people want to see them. Entourage the show use to talk about this in between all the naked bitches.

I'd say that everything he did up until the second pirates movies was GOAT of this generation material.
However, most of the movies he's made since the second pirates then has been little more than Tim Button style, crazy customed guy, Jack Sparrow type characters.
