Ight, its time to address this. My point was that - although I know he's had other roles - when I think of JD, I immediately picture him playing some "character" with pale face and English accent, or both. Someone got what I meant, mentioning the Tim Burton movies..all his roles in those type flicks, you already know what your getting/what to expect. Am I wrong?

When you go for a job as an accountant, they look at your resume for evidence that you've done that role before, why would you expect it to be any different for actors?
It's called type casting.

bills have to be paid..

but to imply these characters play the same in every fuckin movie...

denzel was the same in the great debate...as he was in training day??

- i don't get how any thinking person can say denzel washington is the same character in every role...

i think what people are confusing are mannerisms or voice patterns w/acting the same...

i challenge anybody to go watch a preachers wife and then watch training day and argue that those are the same characters

- i once read somewhere that being typecasted is the best thing that can happen to an actor in hollywood...

if the studio is getting ready to make a huge 100 million dollar action movie blockbuster, and say they need a tough, burly lead guy but also looks like an every-man, who is the first person they think of:

that's why they need trained method actors like i listed above to sell these movies...they are really the ones who keep the machine going...

...I dont think folks are criticizing (at least, Im not)...just pointing out perceptions related to said type casting.....

...so I hear you.

Yo.... as a broke penniless brother. Right about now I would care how many type cast roles I got as long as I could pay my bills. Nuff said. :hmm:

LOL, u stupid!

Go from "Dog Day Afternoon", to "The Godfather", to "Scent of A Woman" and try to type that again!

Even the way Michael Corleone carried himself was different from how Tony Montana did.

There was a long spell between Dog Day Afternoon and Scent of a Woman where he changed it up. For the most part he plays the same Pacino. But he has skills to do something different if you look at those 3 movies you mentioned but hollywood typecast him..i think
