Preciate the support fam.
To be honest, I didn't really use a study guide. I just got up and did it. But I have to caveat this by saying that since I have the GSEC, it wasn't too bad. The GSEC is wayyy more detailed and challenging than the Security+ and I basically did the S+ because it's valued in the field from a marketing perspective, but technically it's not bringing more to my knowledge base than the GSEC. Think of Security + as talking about defensive security, where as GSEC is learning how to view security from the attackers' perspective.
The closest to a study guide I used were the questions from actualtests.com. Honestly, I saw a handful of questions that were the same or relatively similar, but using it gave me a good barometer for how much I needed to be able to recall.
For the CEH, I plan to cram hard for like 3 days, and go take it too, but it has to wait till I'm done with finals. Again, with the harder GSEC under my belt, these other ones are really for marketability.
Plus in all honestly, some places have hard requirements about what certs ppl need to have.Sup Fam... It's been a minute since this got updated so I figured I'd help keep the ball rollin since a lot of cats here helped me get my learn own. 'Preciate again fam.

I recently got my A+ and CCNA but I am having trouble finding a networking job. People like that I have my CCNA but don't wanna give me a chance cuz I have no real world experience. Any suggestions?

Its all about networking when you are trying to get into any industry. I am not a IT guy by any stretch of the imagination, but a good friend of mine pulled me in on a project cause they needed a lot of people quick. They gave me some down and dirty training. I ended up being a team lead. Was working with Cisco routers, switches and a few other items. If I had any experience I probably could have made literally $15k to $20k more, but I had ZERO IT experience. So, I got about a year worth of hands on experience and the project was with one of the largest big box retailers in the US. To me it was a fair trade. Once you get a year under your belt it gets easier, but 2 years is really the key.
Question you all. I'm using the book "security+ guide to network security fundamentals fourth edition" currently in one of my Master's Program courses. Is this particular text the one or sufficient for the CompTia Security+ Exam? Holla Back!!

Prerequisites, and Preparation
This course is aimed at students with little or no prior programming experience but a desire to understand computational approaches to problem solving. Now, by definition, none of you are under-qualified for this course. In terms of being over-qualified - if you have a lot of prior programming experience, we really don't want you wasting your time, and in this case we would suggest that you talk to me about how well this class suits your needs, and to discuss other options. In addition, we want to maintain a productive educational environment, and thus we don't want over-qualified students making other students feel inadequate, when in fact they are only inexperienced.
Since computer programming involves computational modes of thinking, it will help to have some mathematical and logical aptitude. You should be confident with your math skills up to pre-calculus.

6.00SC can be summarized with these six major topics or objectives:

-)--- Learning how to use simulations to shed light on problems that don't easily succumb to closed form solutions
-)--- Learning about how to use computational tools to help model, and understand data
6.00 is designed to help you become skillful at making the computer do what you want it to do. Once you acquire this skill, your first instinct when confronted with many tasks will be to write a program to do the task for you. Said another way, we want to help you learn to apply computational modes of thought to frame problems, and to guide the process of deducing information in a computational manner.
This means that the primary knowledge you will take away from this course is the art of computational problem solving. Unlike many introductory level courses, having an ability to memorize facts will be of little help in 6.00. This course is about learning to solve problems, not learning facts. This, by the way, is exactly why all exams are open book.
Prerequisites, and Preparation
This course is aimed at students with little or no prior programming experience but a desire to understand computational approaches to problem solving. Now, by definition, none of you are under-qualified for this course. In terms of being over-qualified - if you have a lot of prior programming experience, we really don't want you wasting your time, and in this case we would suggest that you talk to me about how well this class suits your needs, and to discuss other options. In addition, we want to maintain a productive educational environment, and thus we don't want over-qualified students making other students feel inadequate, when in fact they are only inexperienced.
Since computer programming involves computational modes of thinking, it will help to have some mathematical and logical aptitude. You should be confident with your math skills up to pre-calculus.
