I guess ppl can only do what's "right" for them based on personal experience/knowledge...I've never laid down for any cop nor had to make any snide remark @ them neither...the times they approached me my response has always reflected a positive tone which in turn elicits a positive response from them both in situations where I have been right and wrong...the 1 time I had a supercop say/do some shit I shut down all communication w/ him....if he was gonna press the issue then I woulda done the file a complaint route when all was said and done but I had nothing to say to him directly after he proved he was not capable of being a rational adult...based on my experiences I would've seen no need to tell the officer anything other than what he asked...your experiences dictated otherwise...so be it....

The OP messed up and could have got himself in a bad situation. I keep telling brothas to stop watching five minute YouTube videos and thinking everything they see or hear is true. To learn the law it takes about 6 years of education and it can't be learned in a five minute video on YouTube.

Many of cats have lost their lives because they responded to something not worth responding to (not referring to police). As I said earlier, there is a difference between knowledge and wisdom.

Look... I understand that you (along with many others in this thread) are advocating an approach that aims to de-escalate a potentially volatile situation. But there's something else here.... more than a few of you seem to be under the impression that a law-abiding citizen should expect scrutiny and harassment from officers simply by virtue of the hour. As though being out late at night is some sort of privilege afforded us by the State. It's a fundamentally wrong-headed and docile reading of our rights as citizens. Further to that... there seems to be little appreciation of the fact that this is more than likely racial... and no it's not reaching to suggest that (as I'm pretty certain that a white jogger would probably not have elicited the same attention).

another thing you could try is walking up to the police cruiser and ordering both officers out of the car. give them your fullname and tell them you are making a citizens arrest. if they ask on what grounds say some shit like," keep talking and i'll throw resisting arrest on top of the other charges"

dude about 5 years ago I had a firebomb thrown through my window at roughly 2 am. This was in a residential neighborhood that was not near any late night businesses so pedestrian traffic at that time is unusual to say the least.
it is more so unusual where i live now. So it isn't just the hour but also the location. Thee are places where people being out and about at any hour is not unusual and in those areas there should not be any scrutiny unless there is a reason for it such as staggering or erratic behavior.
As i said where I live now there is nothing accessible at all without a vehicle so foot traffic would be very strange at that hour. If I saw somebody out walking I would scrutinize them and if they were near my house i might step out for a smoke with my pistol.
I think this thread has gone to extremes. I don't think anybody is saying anyone should have their rights violated or not stand up for themselves when there is a reason to stand up.
I think some are saying that imaging such a reason or inciting a situation isn't the smartest thing.
