BGOL expects that you should have stopped immediately, taken your cap off and apologized to the officer for making your rounds at a late hour.
Officer: "Where are you going citizen?
Plebian: "Ohhhh... I'm just doing errands officer, I know I look guilty since I'm a black man in America. Hell you're just doing your job.... I'm certain that if I was a white man jogging at 3 or 4 am you would've stopped to ask the same questions. You're doing a great job... thanks for keeping the streets safe!!!" *Bows head to show fealty to the State*
Officer: "Thanks for entertaining my bullshit questions Plebe"

dude about 5 years ago I had a firebomb thrown through my window at roughly 2 am. This was in a residential neighborhood that was not near any late night businesses so pedestrian traffic at that time is unusual to say the least.
it is more so unusual where i live now. So it isn't just the hour but also the location. Thee are places where people being out and about at any hour is not unusual and in those areas there should not be any scrutiny unless there is a reason for it such as staggering or erratic behavior.
As i said where I live now there is nothing accessible at all without a vehicle so foot traffic would be very strange at that hour. If I saw somebody out walking I would scrutinize them and if they were near my house i might step out for a smoke with my pistol.
I think this thread has gone to extremes. I don't think anybody is saying anyone should have their rights violated or not stand up for themselves when there is a reason to stand up.
I think some are saying that imaging such a reason or inciting a situation isn't the smartest thing.
And some of the shit posted was plain stupid and extreme. And the more it carries the dumber it will become because there really isn't that much more that can be said.
no it isnt if anybody ask you or you ask someone what are they doing and they reply minding my business that will always come off as a snide smart ass remark and you know it. there is no defending that stance. every other response the op gave maybe but that "minding my business" shit![]()

I understand and appreciate all that. Don't think that your pov is lost on me. I just don't think it's a particularly convincing argument. I go where I like when I like. If I decide to take a walk at 2:30 am in a residential neighborhood that is my fucking prerogative and if it gives a cop the heebie-jeebies then too bad.
MOS didn't have to bend over to explain himself to this cop... that's all I'm saying.
Cops have a job to do. But there are limits to what is reasonable when attempting to keep the peace.
I'm not a ward of the State. A cop isn't my father/mother.... explanations are pursuant to an expectation that I need to explain myself. AND I DON'T. The analogy sucks.
I pay taxes. I've never committed a crime in my life. Never spent a day in jail or even got so much as a parking ticket. Fuck this idea that I need to worry about what a cop thinks about how I spend my time or where I choose to go.
It's nonsense.

congratafuckinglations i have never been arrested or even harassed by the police but even with all that you said a "minding my business" response was not the right response for the situation the op found himself in.
"Iza juss bein a good negro and taken this here letter from Mr. Johnson to that there mailbox."
I guarantee 90% of this Tough Talk being perpetrated on here would go out the window if the Posters found themselves in the same situation.

Right...I would love to see these posters "empower" us w/ videotaped situations of how they deal w/ the police

You learn a lot about members of BGOL in threads like these or any homo ass thread.
Ironically some of the niggas that defend homos are in here poppin shit like theyed buck on police...
do your research...a few come to my mind immediately
I aint gonna call em out......do your research though.
What was so fundamentally wrong about the way dude handled this situation? You guys are being over-dramatic..... he refused to play the officer's game.
Apart from the "self incriminate" comment he did everything right. Yall are acting like buddy pissed on the cruiser or something. There's nothing radical about what he did.
The only one perpetuating A to Z shit is you and a few others...many are saying the mind your business remark was a lil snide and the whole I know my rights act wasn't really necessary...on the other hand you and a few others are the ones being overdramatic re: responses that he shoulda said he was heading to the mailbox...talks of suckin massa's dick...hatin all cops and bending over for cops...fuck the police...? THOSE statements are overdramatic![]()

Did he say this. I re-read his initial post and all I could find was
"he then asks "what ya doin'?" ... i reply "mindin' my business"... and continue walkin' .... "
fuck outta here you singing bastard.... write a song about this shit
Ehhh I shouldn't have said anything to you...your responses have been sarcastic...shouldn't have expected you to try to understand what I just said
