So I got followed by a cop tonight ....

sure is especially in the content of the situation... like i said let my kid give me that response when i ask them what are they doing and see what happens to them

we talking about a grown ass man brotha not a kid......

this is getting crazy....

BGOL expects that you should have stopped immediately, taken your cap off and apologized to the officer for making your rounds at a late hour.

Officer: "Where are you going citizen?
Plebian: "Ohhhh... I'm just doing errands officer, I know I look guilty since I'm a black man in America. Hell you're just doing your job.... I'm certain that if I was a white man jogging at 3 or 4 am you would've stopped to ask the same questions. You're doing a great job... thanks for keeping the streets safe!!!" *Bows head to show fealty to the State*
Officer: "Thanks for entertaining my bullshit questions Plebe "

:smh:
:lol::lol::lol::lol:

it's actually pretty sad to see some of the responses in this thread.

..or if they ask what ur doing say look at them with an evil look in ur eye and say "i'm about to kill.........................................my wifes pussy when i get back home"

we talking about a grown ass man brotha not a kid......

this is getting crazy....

it is getting crazy because you all are trying to defend that smart ass defensive comment that made the op look guilty of something more than trying to mail a letter.

let you girl say that shit to you when she walking out the door you going to be pissed off and the thoughts she jumping off with someone else going to start running through your head.

i said my peace on it some people have agreed some anti police militants have disagreed but whatever

dude about 5 years ago I had a firebomb thrown through my window at roughly 2 am. This was in a residential neighborhood that was not near any late night businesses so pedestrian traffic at that time is unusual to say the least.

it is more so unusual where i live now. So it isn't just the hour but also the location. Thee are places where people being out and about at any hour is not unusual and in those areas there should not be any scrutiny unless there is a reason for it such as staggering or erratic behavior.

As i said where I live now there is nothing accessible at all without a vehicle so foot traffic would be very strange at that hour. If I saw somebody out walking I would scrutinize them and if they were near my house i might step out for a smoke with my pistol.

I think this thread has gone to extremes. I don't think anybody is saying anyone should have their rights violated or not stand up for themselves when there is a reason to stand up.

I think some are saying that imaging such a reason or inciting a situation isn't the smartest thing.

And some of the shit posted was plain stupid and extreme. And the more it carries the dumber it will become because there really isn't that much more that can be said.

I understand and appreciate all that. Don't think that your pov is lost on me. I just don't think it's a particularly convincing argument. I go where I like when I like. If I decide to take a walk at 2:30 am in a residential neighborhood that is my fucking prerogative and if it gives a cop the heebie-jeebies then too bad.

MOS didn't have to bend over to explain himself to this cop... that's all I'm saying.

Cops have a job to do. But there are limits to what is reasonable when attempting to keep the peace.

no it isnt if anybody ask you or you ask someone what are they doing and they reply minding my business that will always come off as a snide smart ass remark and you know it. there is no defending that stance. every other response the op gave maybe but that "minding my business" shit :smh::smh::smh:

I'm not a ward of the State. A cop isn't my father/mother.... explanations are pursuant to an expectation that I need to explain myself. AND I DON'T. The analogy sucks.

I pay taxes. I've never committed a crime in my life. Never spent a day in jail or even got so much as a parking ticket. Fuck this idea that I need to worry about what a cop thinks about how I spend my time or where I choose to go.

It's nonsense.

Well the officer sure as hell treated him like a kid after the op responded immaturely imo

What did all that shit about knowing the law result in? Him having a light shone in his face and being followed and further questioned for a few blocks. Great job.

All that bird talk about knowing the law and reciting that shit is superficial...saying that shit will not deflect a cop from fuckin w/ you if they gonna fuck w/ you...

A) Fuck the police. They have abused our communities for over 100 years and we as a society allow it because half of you bitches think that if you are anti police state your a criminal. You punks don't value your freedom, your right to privacy, your right to due process, your right to equality and the pursuit of happiness. A lot of you don't understand you have these rights because if you did you would understand when they are being violated.

Be a man if you are walking down the street minding your own business and you don't want to talk to the police you can do what the original poster did. If you are scared of the police because you are a bitch then you will probably yes sir no sir Iss a good negro sir your way down the street with your tail between your legs.

congratafuckinglations i have never been arrested or even harassed by the police but even with all that you said a "minding my business" response was not the right response for the situation the op found himself in.

It was a completely appropriate response. HE DIDN'T OWE THAT COP SHIT!! Find your nutsack.

Some of you are extremely childish...telling the police officer to mind his business is normal...but saying I'm out for a walk/heading to the mailbox is coonish  Anyway I'm convinced some of you are living vicariously thru the op cuz you would have presence of mind not to say some of the things he did

You been on this board long enough to know you shoulda took out your phone and started recording...even if the camera wasn't on him, you woulda had the audio and bright ass light...

Glad you got home ok...

Mothafuckas be having something to prove

with nothing to gain :smh:

A bitch has a right to dress like a whore

But she cant cry about a lack of respect or being raped.

There is whats right and there is whats real.

Make sure you know the difference.

Listen to Rambo ass niggas if you want to.

On a dark highway none of that shit means anything

to that cracka cop whos life is in shambles

But you can try it if you want to....

based on whats right.

I guarantee 90% of this Tough Talk being perpetrated on here would go out the window if the Posters found themselves in the same situation.

Right...I would love to see these posters "empower" us w/ videotaped situations of how they deal w/ the police

You learn a lot about members of BGOL in threads like these or any homo ass thread.

Ironically some of the niggas that defend homos are in here poppin shit like theyed buck on police...

do your research...a few come to my mind immediately

I aint gonna call em out......do your research though.

What was so fundamentally wrong about the way dude handled this situation? You guys are being over-dramatic..... he refused to play the officer's game.

Apart from the "self incriminate" comment he did everything right. Yall are acting like buddy pissed on the cruiser or something. There's nothing radical about what he did.

The only one perpetuating A to Z shit is you and a few others...many are saying the mind your business remark was a lil snide and the whole I know my rights act wasn't really necessary...on the other hand you and a few others are the ones being overdramatic re: responses that he shoulda said he was heading to the mailbox...talks of suckin massa's dick...hatin all cops and bending over for cops...fuck the police...? THOSE statements are overdramatic

Find one post where I said any of that brah. I'll wait.

I'm saying that you guys are full of shit on this topic. And I'm right. No reason to explain yourself to police for being out late at night. That is total nonsense.

You can say

"I want two all beef patties special sauce lettuce
cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun."

or you can say

"1 Big Mac"

wtf nigga?!!

Did he say this. I re-read his initial post and all I could find was

"he then asks "what ya doin'?" ... i reply "mindin' my business"... and continue walkin' .... "

I guarantee 90% of this Tough Talk being perpetrated on here would go out the window if the Posters found themselves in the same situation.

Shit. What is tough about telling a cop you are minding your business?

I have done the same shit the OP did and there isn't anything tough about it.

It's nonsense.

And I agree with that in it's entirety. I don't think the cop asking him his business was inappropriate nor do i think the OP had to bend over backwards.

Again I don't think the OP saying I am just getting some air ,is there a problem is bending over backwards.

As I said if the cop wanted to get silly then the OP can at any time stop talking according to his rights and the 5th amendment has nothing to do wit it.

The first response which was minding my own business was arrogant.

As far as paying taxes and never being in trouble the cop does not know that because he doesn't know you. None of the is relevant to the initial contact because who would know that?

But as a taxpayer I would want the police to inquire who is walking down my block at 3am since this isn't an area that can be walked to.

I was outside my home leaning against my car in the driveway at midnight. The garage door was closed and there were no lights on. I cop driving down the street stopped and asked my if everything was alright ( another way of saying what are you doing) I responded I'm good and you. he asked if I lived there and I said yes just catching a smoke. He said have a good one and drove off.

Now I could a said I pay the mortgage here and the taxes and I ain't doing anything wrong so fuck him I don't have to answer you.

I also don't see anywhere in his narrative that the cop asked for ID.

And after 6 pages and many answers I don't even think this shit happened.:lol::lol: what's it called a Duck Tale.

For the record I don't like the police and never have. But some shit is just asking for more than what is there.

Did he say this. I re-read his initial post and all I could find was

"he then asks "what ya doin'?" ... i reply "mindin' my business"... and continue walkin' .... "

Arguing semantics...another spinster tactic...I'm done

I never had a police shine a light in my face or follow me for blocks...I not saying it could never happen cuz I know asshole cops exist...hopefully my method of dealing directly w/ them like an adult continues to work

Ehhh I shouldn't have said anything to you...your responses have been sarcastic...shouldn't have expected you to try to understand what I just said

Dude..... like I said to ballscout and ronmill.... I understand that you're advocating de-escalation. But at what cost?

You have certain rights. Cops have a specific function in society.... what the OP described was harassment plain and simple. His response was perfectly legit.... I just hate the way yall are clowning as if this was some kind of militant bullshit. It's really not. Walking around late at night is not a privilege afforded us by the State for which we need to give quick explanations. That's some sad ass reasoning.
