Tell me then how does Lord Starks....arguable the star of the show manage to get his head cut off without realizing an obviously shady ass family thats in power...may not surprisingly(being sarcastic) forgive him? No plan B from a smart man?:smh:

Sorry i cannot accept that as being well-written. Others have tried to justify it, but it makes no sense at all...A man of "honor" in his last moments throws away everything hes worked hard for? How could he slip/ have a mental lapse that badly when it mattered most?

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here. Ask yourself what would have happened if NEd hadn't agreed with Varys to disavow his previous words against Joffrey? Do you honestly think they would have let him go to the town square and shout his accusations to the public. HELL NO!! He woulda died in that cell with Rats and shit all around him.

I'm gonna paraphrase the writer Martin and what he's said about the way Ned went out. He basically said that people need to understand is that characters SERVE the story and not the other way around.

It served the story for Ned to die the way he did, because if he does not then we don't get to see Joffery go back on his promise which more than anything added fuel to the fire of his enemies. Joffrey was going to have problems anyway, but now he's added additional justification for his enemies to work with.

On the other hand if he had been the stiff honor bound character you seem to want him to be, that's exactly how he would have died in that cell serving no purpose but his own.

ask you to reflect on Ned whole character. Yes, he's shown to be almost always protecting his honor, but he's also shown to have emotion and care for others. See how he acted to prevent Dany's assassination, not just because it was the honorable thing, but because he knows he has to protect his own family member from the same kind of retribution. Allowing Cersie a chance to leave was not truly the honorable thing to do but again he has to consider his own illegitimate family members.
  1. Ned Stark is NOT the star of the show. the way te books are written, each chapter tells a different character's story, from their pov. The way HBO promoted the show was around the show's biggest name, but in actuality, he was just one of an ensamble story.
  2. No one caught the significance of the scene where the Starks found the dead direwolf and he pups. The Starks emblem is a direwolf while the emblem of the king's family (Barathian) is a stag. The direwolf they found had been killed by a stag, which also killed it. But the pups (except for one) all survived thru the end of the season. Ned Stark (direwolf) was killed by King Joffrey (stag).
  3. Ned's death by Joffrey set a whole chan of events in motion. Without his betrayal & execution, things would be moving a lot slower.

The funny part is the ones talkin about how ruthless the kid Joffrey is....Spartacus already done did that:

What did he do that was ruthless??? He was manipulated by a grown woman pretending that she wanted him. Shit Joffrey started off the show by being a little shit. He lied on Sansa, told his uncle Tyrion (the dwarf) that he didn't care about the crying of women, (check out the youtube remix of "The Slap":

)

broke the word that his mother had given to Eddard, had the tongue of a minstrel singer cut out, and showed his future bride the head of her now dead father (and that of her chamber maid) stuck on a pike.

So tell me again, what did that kid in Spartacus do that was so ruthless???

yo... this show fucks with my emotions man..i finally watched the entire season a bit over a week ago... man...when King Joffrey killed Ned I yelled.... this bitch ass muthafucka :angry::angry::angry: but I had to :clap: @ them killing off a main character like that... I havent seen Spartacus so I cant even make the comparison but I do know that Thrones is fucking impeccably written and acting is top rate

Was this you?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I thought dude was acting for the camera until I saw this post:

^^^ The guy in the vid is a gay idiot...I stopped listening once he said Ned should basically still be alive bcuz he's the highest paid/most famous actor on the show...nigga bought into 1 character based on his fame/$$$ and failed to see the story being told...either that or he's just attention-whoring...either way gay idiot

I dont know why people think Ned Stark was the main character of the show....I understand people thought he was but he wasnt the main character.

If people want to get into the debate who is the main character then its fine.....But for me I have an idea who is the main character but Im not totally sure.

Only one direwolf died in the first season unless Im missing something. :confused:

The mother dire-wolf was dead when they found the pups. She was killed by the stag she was hunting, an antler pierced her throat. The symbolism is that the head of the direwolves (Eddard Stark) will be killed by the Barathians (in this case Joffrey).

It was played up more in the book as Ned's wife felt a sense of dread about it when she heard about the dead dire-wolf, and even more when King Robert came to Winterfell and offered Ned the position of King's Hand
