Donovan NcNabb has no time in his life for social networking sites and thinks other athletes should follow his lead.

The Washington Redskins quarterback was speaking on ESPN's Waddle & Silvy radio show last week
when the subject of Chicago qb Jay Cutler came up. Cutler was criticized heavily last year by
some NFL players on Twitter when he couldn't return to a playoff game because of a knee injury.

McNabb, who has been no stranger to criticism throughout his career said he could identify with
Cutler, and thinks it is unprofessional for athletes to tweet about situations like that.

"First of all, I'm not a fan of Twitter. Nothing against their program or what they have, but
as an athlete I think you need to get off twitter," Mcnabb said. "All these social networks of you
tweeting about you watching a game when you want to be playing in it, but you're mad you're not
playing in it, so you're gonna criticize someone that's playing in it. I don't believe that that's
the right deal. That's not professional by any means and you know we are all in a fraternity, so if
you see a guy who's struggling this isn't the time to jump on him or kick him while he's down because
that same guy will come against you and kinda blast your team out the water, so I think for an
athlete to be 'twittering' is the wrong move. It's one of those things to leave to the fans and
let them comment on certain things, but athletes need to get off Twitter."

Hell yeah, I agree. There is no upside to it. You're not going to sell anymore tickets or jerseys or anything because you have a Twitter or FB account. I don't see what they gain from it but I have seen plenty of times how they get in trouble with it.

Every one needs to get off Twitter...especially those who follow people on it.

Get a fucking life...

well twitter was made for attention whore ass athletes and famous folks. I think famous folks in general should just be careful of what they tweet

Example: Chris Brown

He's got a point. It can be entertaining and it works as self-promotion for a lot of them but truth be told they find themselves in more trouble than anything. (Peterson, Mendenhall, the list goes one).

c/s all of the above

The problem isn't Twitter. Its the people abusing Twitter. Like IMO, Ochocinco does a good job of branding himself with Twitter. He keeps himself close to the fans and doesn't act like fans are beneith him. Fans like that. Its the people like Chris Brown(yea he's a singer) and other dumbasses who don't know how to handle Twitter.

McNabb needs to worry about finding a job first. Then worry about what other niggas are doing.

I don't really care what anyone else does

With their life(can't control that). I do see very little positive

Come from it. I have no Facebook nor twitter.

Did myspace for a hot minute. On a few forums,

But bgol is only one I post in.

I agree wholeheartedly. No good comes from it. It is a bunch of dudes speaking...or...typing without thinking. What happens when you do shit without thinking...bad shit.

Damn. I shouldn't have said that.

You'll reaching like shit. Im guessing ya'll on twitter though.

Twitter is a micro-blogging site. What does a blog model itself after? A forum post, with responses right? Twitter is nothing more than the largest, most active forum on the net. Its very obvious.

Either get off, or be more mindful about what the hell they tweet..

i guess in your world there isnt a lockout right now:confused:

What does a lockout have to do with him thinking about where his next job will be? He just came off a season where he was benched for Rex Grossman. He pretty much should be only focused on getting in the best shape, improving his accuracy, and getting ready to kick ass once the season starts.

Twitter is the last of his problems.

if you have no formal public relations training as an athlete you need to get off of twitter period.
you will slip up and someone is ALWAYS watching your tweets, they find the most insignificant horrible players who don't even play and if they say something stupid, its caught and reported.

leave the p.r. to the p.r. people you hire.

Says the individual that spends the majority of his days on a message board which is basically the equivalent to Twitter.

give this man a beer.

its all the same. you post to people. they read and respond. vice versa.

The funny thing is he's giving a media interview knocking players for knocking other players in the media.

If players shouldn't be on twitter, they shouldn't be doing all these interviews either.

I have a account and tried it to see what it was but in reality it was a less effective version of BGOL to me. I'd rather be on BGOL.

Exactly. That's all Twitter is. They called the shit "Twitter" and gave it a cute name and people took the bait.

if they don't have proper training then they shouldn't.
just the ones required by the league
and the ones if they're promoting something they're doing.
