shaquille o'neal is TOO fat, TOO slow, TOO old

SURE.

shaquille o'neal drops 31 pts, shot over 58% from the field, gathered 8 boards, and blocked 3 shots while helping the heat defeat the pistons...

EVEN if all of the speculation about his weight, conditioning and health were 100% correct (i say they are NOT), is there any other C in the league that has the impact of the supposedly 'broken-down' model of shaquille o'neal?

I was like "Cran dissin Shaq"????????

The skinny Shaq I saw last year was not good and it showed in the number of injuries he suffered.

I never understood this Shaq is overweight shit. Shaq gets beaten up every night. His career would have been over if he was as skinny as they wanted them to be. It's like telling an Oline man in football that he is too fat.

What is it with the league Cran? Shaq is always getting jumped on and has probably been the face of the NBA since MJ retired.

Thanks in advance

On or off the ball.....the only center that comes close is Zo
too bad Zo can't go 35 minutes a night....off course, that
doesn't include Duncan, who is a PF/C hybrid and not a
bonafied 100%, night in, night out center

If Shaq is healthy enough to put preformances like that in the playoffs, Detroit will be watching the finals

the problem is not only with the league...

the problem ALSO stems largely from the jealous rants from the legion of childish (both emotionally and mentally) tobe fans...

notice how they've been saying how SMART dr. jerry buss looks for trading shaquille o'neal IN SPITE OF DIRECT EVIDENCE POINTING TO THE CONTRARY?

let's review:

LAST season, the fakers WITHOUT shaquille o'neal post their worst regular season in YEARS...

LAST season, the fakers WITHOUT shaquille o'neal fail to make the playoffs for the first time in YEARS...

LAST season, the heat WITH shaquille o'neal improve their regular season record from the year before...

LAST season, the heat WITH shaquille o'neal moved deeper into the playoffs compared to the year before...

THIS season, the fakers have a WORSE record (at this point, than they did LAST season)

THIS season, the heat have a WORSE record (at this point, arguably because shaquille o'neal missed many games due to injury)

shaquille o'neal's importance to his TEAM should be obvious to rational observers and even the most casual of fans, but tobe lovers cloud the issue with red herrings and illogical hate...

as usual, they refuse to face the FACTS...

D,

They may be watching it anyway. I've seen Detroit a few times this season and was not impressed with them at all (Coming from a 'supposed to be able to compete with the '95 Bulls point of view) And Flip Saunders is due for his annual coaching breakdown which should start up around March Madness.

:smh:

Funny you say this because this is the exact same thing that Wobe lovers say to me around my way. (Weird that they all say the say dumb shit in succession like this). I think it goes back to the problem that most basketball 'fans' are ignorant to what makes the game great. A lot of them equate scoring points to being the better player (Wobe lovers) and not the impact of the player be increasing team wins, by increasing playoff wins, increasing the statistics of teammates after they arrived on the team (All things Shaquille O'Neal did)

The mindset of the average fan is fucked up these days as they only care about the razzle dazzle and not actually putting up Ws and I thought that was the whole point of playing. Like Coach Herman Edwards (NY Jets/KC Chiefs) said..." You PLAY to WIN the GAME ".

Similar to a post made on the main board a few weeks ago when someone asked would you rather go to the Hall of Fame or win championships. I'm sure all of you could pick which option the Wobe lovers said they'd rather have. ;)

31 points: good, always a helpful contribution to any team (how often does he get to the line?).

58%: I would expect at least 52% from a man that dominates most centers in the league, as well as one that doesn't have to travel too far from the basket.

8 boards: It's good, but I was just expecting more from Shaq. Maybe this one is just me(It's not unusual to see Tim Duncan: 20 pts., 20 rebounds).

3 blocked shots: that's fine.

While I maintain that Shaq is indeed on the decline of his career, I'm not going to argue that he's not capable of productive nights, as he has shown in a handful of games this year  .Shaq is lazy, as Pat Riley is going to find out (if he hasn't already) in the second half of the season. I hope that Dwayne Wade is able to continue to guide his team in the right direction while the big man continues to play his way.

I'm simply going to state that I'll give him another year or two (three max) before he either retires or is simply unable to play at a dominant level.

Who the hell is giving you credence to rant day in/day out, allowing you to pass your opinions as facts??

Despite what you claim, I honestly believe that Kobe Bryant's game performance (whether good/bad) will always be paramount (to you) to anything else in the NBA. Despite Tim Duncan's last two poor performances, despite the Piston's recent slip, despite the All-Star weekend, number 8 of the Lakers' name is present in each of your posts. Come on, at least bring more sarcasm if you're going to be critical of everything (from the way dribbles to the way he sweats).

LAST season, the fakers WITHOUT shaquille o'neal fail to make the playoffs for the first time in YEARS...

If you would have traded Kobe instead of Shaq for the exact same quality that the Lakers got in return for their trade for Shaq, then I seriously doubt they would have made the playoffs, even with Shaq.

LAST season, the heat WITH shaquille o'neal improve their regular season record from the year before...

Look what they gained compared to what they lost! Even on the decline (which he obviously is), Shaq is better than all of the players involved in the trade.

LAST season, the heat WITH shaquille o'neal moved deeper into the playoffs compared to the year before...
No shit, sherlock.

THIS season, the fakers have a WORSE record (at this point, than they did LAST season)

Already addressed it above.

H,

each of these points are STATEMENTS OF FACT, NOT OPINION... ALL of the listed FACTS provide evidence as to the CORRECT player to keep. the data from 2004-05 are in, and it leaves NO doubt. we have more than half the data from 2005-06, and thus far, it leaves NO doubt.

if you are suggesting that the following statements quoted from my original post are mere opinion and NOT fact, you have serious problems facing reality:

FACT

LAST season, the fakers WITHOUT shaquille o'neal post their worst regular season in YEARS...

FACT

LAST season, the fakers WITHOUT shaquille o'neal fail to make the playoffs for the first time in YEARS...

FACT

LAST season, the heat WITH shaquille o'neal improve their regular season record from the year before...

FACT

LAST season, the heat WITH shaquille o'neal moved deeper into the playoffs compared to the year before...

FACT

THIS season, the fakers have a WORSE record (at this point, than they did LAST season)

I live here is South Florida so I probably see more Heat games than most people.

Shaq is lazy?????

I will say this.....since his first major in game injury last year Shaq is now pacing himself a little more than usual.
However, what I see is Shaq taking 10 to 15 shots a game in order to get the new team in the flow of things. Shaq still scores at will when he feels like.

The press somehow wants me put Shaq in the declining role and his own coach (Pat Riley) said the Shaq should be productive like Kareem well into his late 30's.

Don't beleive the hype....the fat and out of shape label is bullshit. How many centers have come and gone since Shaq has been in the leauge? The ones still left come off the bench. Check it. Shaq is a team player and that gets lost on alot of "journalists" that really don't understand the game.

While the Lakers are happy to get the seventh seed and Tobe is throwing water on his face for a TV moment to counteract his elbowing of teammates.

Shaq has won his 7th straight FGP award only second to Wilt. He has UD looking legit...AW looks legit,JWill lookin good.

The Tobe crew is just plain stupid. You would never see Jordan jumping around happy to be the seventh seed.

But no....it's his team.....

Firstly, Kobe playd a good team game yesterday

I've watched Dr. J, Magic and Bird, Jordan, Shaq.

I am patiently waiting for the next great thing.

Kobe had a chance to be something special. He kinda blew it.

I honestly want to see Kobe DO BETTER THAN HE IS NOW!!!!!

My DREAM FINALS IS THE LAKERS vs. the HEAT.

I actually like Kobe. I am just highly dissappointed at the way he has handled himself.

It's like Tyson vs. Ali debate.

Before Buster Douglas, everyone said Tyson would surely kick Ali's ass. People have a much different opinion now.

Let's wait a couple more seasons.

I will be 40 this year

That doesn't make me any smarter than you however.

I guess I am a little more cynical these days because I have seen hype, bought into it, and been let down.

I then got into studying mass manipulation by the press. I then started to understand how the press creates opinions.

The truth is...I HAVE SEEN THE REFS DETERMINE GAME FLOW WAAAAAY TOO OFTEN. Most of what we see as a game doesn't give us enough to judge because the refs slow the game down and have too much control over players. Beside that , I just watch what players do at which times.

We are usually being told what we are looking at. That is why I appreciate the facts that Cran brings.

Thats very understandable. And i'm not saying his analysis' are wrong. But at the same time, the whole blame can not be blamed on one person.

I can tell you this though, no matter what kobe does, people will always say "but he didnt do this". They make the playoffs after everyone said they wouldn't, now it's "but they cant beat the Suns". He scores 81 in a game "how many assists did he have". Its like people find fault in everything he does.

Myself, I dont listen to the media much. Sure i may watch sportscenter or a pregame show, just to see what they say, but what they say has no effect on the players or teams i like.

aw damn. that fat overweight slob just went 8-14 FGAs (57%) 22 pts, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assists in 35 minutes...

what a slow, lazy bum he is...

on another note:

funny how NOT ONE PLAYER ON EITHER TEAM had more than 20 FGAs, but both teams managed to score over 100 points...

Two good teams playing team ball

Miami just has better players.

I damn near feel bad for Tyson Chandler, he looks lost out there , helpless.

Wade is the truth. Walker is playing much better.

Yes, Shaq is fat and out of shape and slow. So slow he got to the ECF last year and his team was up 3-2. Wade gets hurt and they lose the next two.

I can't wait for the Pistons

Oh.....where oh where has New Jersy gone.....oh where oh where can they be

if you paid attention to what i posted IN YOUR THREAD, you would have forseen tonight's game.

posted on april 21st:

"heat over bulls - 5 games (i would predict a sweep, but i'm sure shaquille o'neal will be sitting MAJOR minutes on the bench with foul trouble in AT LEAST 1 game)"

what about your contention that dwyane wade could carry the heat without shaquille o'neal? does that still float after tonight's game? no shaquille o'neal, heat goes down by 20?

for those interested in the reason behind shaquille o'neal's (and the miami heat's) struggles tonight, review the game film and watch THIS factor.

the miami heat's INABILITY to prevent ben gordon's dribble penetration.

the secondary factor was the conscious effort of the bulls to push the ball up the court, and it paid dividends...

Are you seriously trying to say that the Bulls won this game because Shaquille sat on the bench with foul trouble?

When he was in the game (25 minutes) he stunk!!! He was a non factor on the defensive end and was a turnover machine on the offensive end! He failed to show up for this game at all!!! Dwayne did his part, part he didn't get any help from Shaq who didn't miss the game, he just played like garbage!!! Not a single foul call was questionable, he just flat out played horrible. In fact he drew one foul call trying to draw a charge. 7'0 300 pounds and instead of blocking the shot he tries to draw a charge! If Dwayne Wade had been out injured, the Heat lose by 50!

In 25 min of floor time

Whenever they want to extend a series Shaq gets into foul trouble..... The refs are more emotional than the players.

It's basically BS...like this years SUperbowl.

Who ever said Shaq was MVP this year? Not me...However he is more valuable to his team than Kobe is to the Lakers.

Bad games in the playoffs happened to all the greats....What made them great though is that they BOUNCED BACK. We'll see how Shaq does next game.
Shit Magic was just talking about the game where they were blown out by 48. They still won the series.

The Heat will win this series, that we know.

The press creates stories......the Heat up 2-0 , the bulls win one at home, and now people talk shit. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

It's shows a lack of intelligence to exaggerate to make a point.

I did watch the game! That's how I know just how inefective Shaq was.
I wonder how come you didn't post the play-by-play?
Probably because you know it would show that the Heat were -13 with O'Neal on the floor last night and -6 with him on the bench!!! The team was 7 points better with him on the bench so don't try to give me that shit about the lead ballooning with him on the bench!!!
I love how you try to make it sound like Shaq left the game with a 6 point deficit and came back to a 16 point deficit when the reality is when he sat down with 10:15 to play in Q3 the Heat were already down 8 (44-52), when he returned with 2:19 to play in Q3 the Heat were down 13, then with him on the court for the next 12 minutes the Bulls extended the lead to 19 and crusied to victory!

Who do you think you are talking to? If you watched the game you know what you are saying is bullshit and even if you didn't I know you can see the same play-by-play stats as I can because you have posted them so many times before. So this just exposes you once again for the FRAUD you are!!!

So the Lakers back into the playoffs (seventh seed) and Kobe is great....no MVP....Shaq is expected to win a championship and when he doesn't(with star player injured) he's washed up? GTFOH

Nobody said Kobe was washed up last year. This was with Caron Butler and Lamar Odom (watch the washington series for Butler). Kobe had a subpar game vs Suns and no one was saying he is washed up.

I knew it was a set up from the time you asked wht are our favorite teams.

Tim , I doubt you even play rec bball. Your knowledge of the game sounds like you are parroting ESPN. I have yet to receive insight that is fresh from your threads or replies.

You sound like you are still on the 2005 Kobe dick. Just admit Kobe fucked up a dynasty to be the man and you'll be fine.

You should be worried about why the Clippers are now the best team in LA.

I had to come back and read this again. You just ripped me for no reason.

Not sure what you are talking about.

cranrab posted some bullshit info trying to suggest that the Heat lost the game with O'Neal on the bench when that clearly was not the case last night!
