Zidane is the best player ever

Come on kid this is a silly question.I can tell by the feat they accomplished, impact they made on the game, records, stats.

That's like saying ppl under 30 cannot tell how good Bill Russell and Chamberlain was because they didn't watched them.

:lol::lol: Man said he judges players based on their stats. That fully confirms your an armchair fan. Which of these stats do you use to compare Zidane & Pele then?

Also I asked how can you judge a players impact on a game and you answer with 'impact they made on the game'? That hasn't answered my question.

If its such a silly question then how come you cant answer it? Like I said the judging a player on the feat they accomplished is making a judgment based on someone else's opinion. If I were to do the same then I would be saying David Beckham and Booby Moore are the best footballers of all time. However I know that doesn't apply to Beckham because I at least know Figo was a superior winger to him.

Contradicting argument!

If I cannot give credit to a player's greatness because I never watched him in his prime, how can a person(YOU) in his early 20's talk about the level of football in the 70's and 80's?

Wouldn't that mean you are basing "your opinions on someone elses"?

When I say bias I was alluding to the fact that Zidane was a teammate. You do know that nationality is not the only thing ppl are bias with right?

Wrong. I've been attending Charlton Athletic games since the age of 4, so I did watch 80's football. Anyone who thinks football hasn't progressed knows nothing about the game. In the short time I've been watching I've witnessed huge changes in players fitness levels and knowledge. Unless your telling me football was more advanced before the 80's then suffered a dip during that period.

And if Zidane was his team mate that means he's analysed his game more than the majority of other people, meaning he knows more about the player than most.

I'd be very interested to see you compare an attacking midfielder(Zidane) to a striker (Pele) with your unbiased opinion. Oh yeah, I forgot you've got your stats and records to use :lol::lol:

:lol::lol: Man said he judges players based on their stats. That fully confirms your an armchair fan. Which of these stats do you use to compare Zidane & Pele then?

I said stats among others things.Learn to read and understand.

So you are insinuating that stats, records, accolades has absolutely NOTHING to do with a player's performance.OK more ignorance displaying. As a person who understand the game I'm using history as my reference.Unless everything that I saw was doctored because I can't see how different it is if I watched it live in the 70's or watched a recorded version in the 80's.

I guess we should erase history then because obviously it will only serve as opinions and not FACTS according to you. :smh:

Imagine this kid just start watch football and running off his mouth.

Also I asked how can you judge a players impact on a game and you answer with 'impact they made on the game'? That hasn't answered my question.

Jeez can people be this slow.It is not just someone else's opinion it is a FACT.

Do you know the history of football?

Look at the history of the game Pele's impact on football, Zidane can't even match up to half of that.Hence Beckham's comment hold little or no validity.

Let me make ask YOU,what make Zidane the greatest of all-time?

What does greatest of all-time means?

Let's see how knowledgeable you are about the game.

 @In the short time I've been watching, thread should close here. This explain your reasoning.

Come on kid at age 4 you hardly knew anything about football to even comment and the 80's era.Your opinion on 80's era about football is someone's else opinion, the same logic you trying to dispel you are using. You are how old 24? .You are basically watching clips, analyzing stats of the 80's era to even comment on the progress of football.

Do you realize that Pele was not just a STRIKER?

lol @the irony, you pigeonholed Pele to one position when you never witness him play.

OK, I got you kid.

According to your logics if I ask you to name the top 20 football players of all-time,your list would only consist of players that you witness playing, basically players that you see played in the late 80's,through out the 90's and present.

You probably was still wearing pampers when Maradona won his first World Cup.

Typing a lot but you still have not answered the questions. :smh:

And where exactly did I say stats have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with a players performance. Your clutching at straws. We're discussing the best player of all time, and yes stats have no place in this discussion. What can stats tell you. Goals scored, assists. Does that judge how good a players technique was? How good his passing was? How quick he was? How good his goals were? How strong he was? How hard he worked for the team?

Stats are ridiculously misleading. Even assissts!

I Read exactly what you wrote, and if YOU had learnt to read and understand you would see how I broke down your weak methods of observation. Maybe you should practice what you preach. Sorry if your eyesights deteriorating in your old age. Quoting my whole post would go a long way in helping that issue.

Imagine a Yank trying to school me about a culture he doesn't even understand.

Jeez can people be this slow.It is not just someone else's opinion it is a FACT.

:lol::lol:killed yourself again. Did I ever say I knew who the greatest player of all time was? Did I even claim Zidane was? I said Becks opionion was fair. I only fully understand this generation as I have the opportunity to watch games on a weekly basis. So let me tell you why Zidane along with R9 are top 3 selected (I actually understand the concept of Question and Answers)

- Passing - He has an immense range of passing. Both long and short balls. Name me a player with better ball retention? The guy rarely loses the ball and creates goals out of nothing.

- Shooting - His shooting technique was immense. He scored many sick volleys. He could scored from some very tight angles. He was also amazing at shooting from distance.

- Dead Balls- Someone like you probably doesn't understand the art of corner taking, but if you did you would know his we're bloody good. His free kicks were also immense.

- Dominance - The guy dictated BOTH international and domestic games at his own pace. If you play football you'll understand how hard that is. If you check France at the last World Cup and the last Euros you'll understand that he made a team that wothy of only a point at a European Championship, into a team that could have won the world cup. Its no coincedence that he's won every major honour ie World Cup, Euros, Champions League, La Liga, Serie A etc/

- Dribbling - was bang on point. Dude created his own tricks and used them in games. People overlook this because he wasn't fast. But guy skinned countless people.

- He was a big game player- World Cup 98, Champions League 02 ETC.

- Intelligence- He knows when to pass, when to shoot and when to hold on to the ball.

- Ariel Presence- Brilliant in the air. Very rare for a good dribbler to be soo good in the air.

- Versatility - Could transform a game from any position on the field.

Why the hell are you asking me if I know the history of the game? When did I claim I was a football historian. Like I've maintained throughout this thread, I only fully understand this generation. And you've got the nerve to call someone else slow. You mad?

Your also making statements without backing your facts. How exactly can you prove that Pele had more of an impact on the game?

 @In the short time I've been watching, thread should close here. This explain your reasoning.

Wrong again. This is why you dont know shit. Football is a culture over here. 4 year olds take interest in football. Just because you failed at basketball, american football, baseball etc and then tried to jump on the 'Soccer' bandwagon doesn't mean everyone else did. Like I said I watched live games ie:

  • Rob Lee skinning players down the wing
  • Mark Aizlewood's dominance in the air

Do you realize that Pele was not just a STRIKER?

lol @the irony, you pigeonholed Pele to one position when you never witness him play.

OK, I got you kid.

Well since you've brought it up, answer the bloodclart question. Who was the better attacking midfielder?

And did I ever claim to know Pele? But still are you denying that his most favoured position was as a frontman? Most players mentioned in this thread play in a wide range of positions?

According to your logics if I ask you to name the top 20 football players of all-time,your list would only consist of players that you witness playing, basically players that you see played in the late 80's,through out the 90's and present.

You probably was still wearing pampers when Maradona won his first World Cup.

Wow we are finally making progress. I more or less said this in the first post.

And Maradonna only won 1 world cup;)

Schooling a "historian" now

l.

Do you realize that Pele was not just a STRIKER?

lol @the irony, you pigeonholed Pele to one position when you never witness him play.

I'm not getting to the middle of this argument, but I have to agree here. It's not a good claim to characterize Pele as solely a "striker".

Imagine a Yank trying to school me about a culture he doesn't even understand.

A what?

He said bloodclart

Hear this jahfakan, you are one of those sissy English men right?

lol @ you thinking I'm a yank that try to play basketball, American football, baseball.

Talking about clutching for straws.

Beck's opinion was fair,how so?

A fair opinion would be "Zidane is the greatest he ever saw played"

Beckham saying Zidane is the greatest of all-time he is basically saying Zidane is a greater player than Pele,Maradona actually he is comparing Zidane with everybody that played football,on an international level of course.Yet he never saw Pele played in his prime.

Your also making statements without backing your facts. How exactly can you prove that Pele had more of an impact on the game?

Is this a rhetorical question? Then again it cannot be.

Any true football fan wouldn't question Pele's impact on the game. Now you see why I can't answer silly question like that.
There is a thing called legacy it is not just fill with someone's else opinion, there are actually facts within people's legacy.

Maybe a young kid like yourself should use google maybe you will learn a thing or two and stop your jibberish.

The better question is what impact Zidane made on the game?

 @you telling me how many World cup Maradona won.Did you had to google that to confirm it?

Have we come to any conclusions guys?
It's all opinions.
A more important question, Who is the most aggressive person on BGOL?

I don't even like soccer and I know that number one and number two are Pele and Maradona, or Maradona and Pele, depending on who you ask.

A what?

He said bloodclart

Talking about clutching for straws.

Keep ignoring the questions and going off topic :lol: It just reinforces my point that you cant answer my questions. How does it feel? I know I'd be pissed if I couldn't answer a youths question.

Beck's opinion was fair,how so?

I'm actually worried now old man. Your losing the plot. I done already answered these questions. :D

Beckham saying Zidane is the greatest of all-time he is basically saying Zidane is a greater player than Pele,Maradona actually he is comparing Zidane with everybody that played football,on an international level of course.Yet he never saw Pele played in his prime.

See below. Plus I never read anything about international level.

Is this a rhetorical question? Then again it cannot be.

This cannot be life. What have I said throughout the thread? You cannot base your opinions on someone elses. You have no mind of your own when it comes to football. Their legacy has been dictated to you and your lapping it up. Just take the L.

 @you telling me how many World cup Maradona won.Did you had to google that to confirm it?

Nah, but I did anyway! Its always handy to back up your points, especially when your making outrageous claims about the said player :lol:

Anyway its been nice debating you, but I'm done with this thread until you can answer my questions.

He actually think he is winning. LMBAO!

Like I said I don't answer stupid question,it is silly as me involving in a basketball debate and a person is going to try refute my argument by questioning Jordan's impact on the game or even refute my argument by questioning Ali's impact on boxing.

I can even take Pele completely out of the equation and just talk about Maradona, a player that I watched throught out is rise and fall. Then again you might still tell me that Maradona's legacy has been dictated to me.

I could see why you say Beck's opinion is fair and unbias. You are a post Maradona era football fan.

You know what I going to make you feel happy about yourself.

You win, you are completely right.

I get the feeling you are just secretly defending your fellow English man.Nothing wrong with being a Beckham fan even though he is a trash/overhype player but lets not get into that now.

man i'm french but you are fucking blind zidane was a good player but maradona and cruyff was way better than he his .
