Thats not the point of this thread. No piece of legislation that has passed in the history of the existence of this country has ever been perfect. Unless you plan on running for office and introducing your own bill, you will always find something you'll disagree with.

Lifes NOT perfect so you deal with it and make choices as CLOSE to what you'd like as possible because no matter what you think, you WILL have to deal with the fall out of their decision one way or another.
All this "I'm NOT AFFECTED" is bullshit...you pay taxes and you are subject to whatever laws and rules they institute...so we are all dancing to the beat even if we don't THINK we are. Yeah, everyone's situation is unique. I don't want to make this a partisan issue. If I get another $1200 I'll be able to compensate for the lost revenue my out of work tenant is supposed to be responsible for. Since the repubs will end the moratorium on evictions, if I don't get additional funds, she'll be in the street. So the republican plan works for my tenant and for me.

This right here is exactly the issue. These temporary handouts will not change the situation for black folks one iota. once we get adjusted to the new normal, things will actually be far worse for black folks and many will become even more dependent on these devils.
Like some of the the other BGOLers have stated, I also do not qualify for any of the benefits except for the student loan portion. However, I have been making lump sum payments to get them paid off. These forbearances are still taxed. So, I am good on that.
Also, I am part owner of a couple of small businesses, but again, the unemployment stimulus wouldn't apply to our business or employees.

I see nothing in the GOP deal worth it outside of increasing the dependent age as to include families with college age children. But every thing else in line with what they do, which is give breaks to those that don't need it and absolutely no oversight.
I'm a single male with no dependents that makes 80K, so the only thing I'm interested in personally is the 10k student loan forgiveness which would basically end my responsibility.

Well, as I mentioned earlier, I do not agree with many of the things in either pieceof legislation. I tend to think that programs that would allow black folk to learn new skills that would better prepare us for the new normal would be a better use of the money. Buying laptops, free internet access, courses in analytics, coding, marketing, or any of the many careers that would allow black folk to work from home.
Right now in my city, I'm spending hours trying to help black parents figure out how to do online learning for their kids until school begins in person learning. So, how about daycare vouchers? Kids doing online learning have to have someone at home so that they can do......online learning. But, schools are not concerned with this.
You mad because I have other ideas that differ from the ones proposed by millionaires who are not on the street? I dont want to give my people something just to have it taken away. People will begin to buget in whatever bonuses they receive. And when it stops??? Many are gonna be up the creek. It happened with this last round of stimulus money.

True, the eviction moratorium will be covered but I won't get the $1200. So either I'm assed out and she's good to go for a little while longer under the Dem plan or she's assed out but I let her stay because I get the $1200 under the repub plan. Which one would you choose?
I appreciate what you're doing for your community but that doesn't change the reality on the ground. Not everyone can be or even wants to entrepreneurs. Some people don't mind having bosses and working for a paycheck (not everyone can be a chief somebody's got to be the Indians)
The reality is people...poor people...poor black people have to deal with life with the cards they're dealt with. YES, it's shitty! Yes it's not what it should be! But that doesn't stop life from going on. So given the two plans..which is what WE ALL are presented with. Unless your classes can help people be independent TOMORROW and I mean that literally...they have to deal with these two stimulus plans or some variation of them.
Whether you like or not is quite frankly irrelevant.
So IN YOUR ASSESSMENT...which plan is more helpful to the people you teach in your classes??

i don't get the choices...the issue seems to be whether YOU personally get a 1200 dollar check or not...but if you do get that check then what are you spending it on? Its going toward paying for shit landlords pay for right? Well if she gets the voucher...you still get the rent and utilities money. you getting an EXTRA 1200 on top of that isn't really her problem. So the issue SEEMS to be that you're not happy not getting 1200 bucks.
