Trying to find something else but man I'm realizing it seems turning in a resume into a company with no connections pretty much means no chance. Out of all my friends I can only think of one person that got a job by just submitting a resume.

The current job I'm at I got b/c of a guy being cool with my older brother and he put me on with the lady that does the hiring. Lady told me to stay in contact with her so when they start hiring she will call me in. Fuck up thing was when the interviewing process began a white chick that went before me had no chance. I got the job that day, and the lady doing the interview(a white lady herself) was clowning the chick before me when my turn came up talking about "My god I thought she would never shut up" :confused: to myself I was like bitch she trying to get a job.

That shit opened my eyes on how shit goes down b/c she didn't even interview me she just sent me to my 2nd interview which was a brother, you already know :yes:. Lol we just pretty much talked about college life, cool ass old head. Shit I didn't even have to meet District Manager they just put me on.

Now reality has set in I got lucky before. Doing this Leapforce thing TheMainMan provided for us so I can have Google on my resume to see if that will help, extra money don't hurt also. Just curious on how BGOL fellas got put on. You young dudes in college networking is serious business.
 
I got my job by my resume that a connection put in front of the hiring manager.

SO had I not had a verifiable record the person would not have been a connection and would not have recommended me


the connection was someone who I had previously worked with at a diffrent company
 
it depends, if you have connections its going to be easier, but if the company is short staffed they will higher the best candidate. It also depends on the type of job for example fire fighters are mostly job hooks so if you don't know anyone its gonna be hard as fuck

Im looking for another job now. I do good till the background checks :smh: I got a felony 19 years ago and it keeps fucking me up. Only trouble ive been in since then is a speeding ticket :angry: and the felony is a Class C at that. Non violent. I went on an interview yesterday because of a few friends of mine. They have to do a background check but they only go back 10 years so i may luck out.

you must be working in the financial industry. Thats the only time background checks go back that far,,,that and law enforcement.

usuall background check is 7-10 years

that fucked me up. I did an FBI check that went back 10 years and I was all good. I was going to take a job at a bank and they went back all the way and something came up

actually its tech support, every place i went had background checks. the last place i went only went back 10 years and i have to do fingerprinting because its for a nys school district. Which i under stand that. But the other positions were just regular tech support, IT admin work.

Was that one a bs job? The two I got no resume was involved it was a dish washing job while I was in college and working in a freezer. Them boys would hire you on spot as long as you hopped your ass in the freezer :smh:

Jobs where you have to wear a suit to interview for I just can't see how you getting it without some help nowadays.

Shit I remember it was hard for me to get that dish washer job when I was in college got turned down a few times. One I tried to use a connect I think that backfired manager probably didn't like the guy that tried to hook me up and another spot the manager was a guy that lived in my dorm my first year dickhead fuckem.

Man I got lucky with the job I'm in now with the whole interview thing. I got a chance at a big Oil and Gas company here and will not have to interview the dude that is trying to put me on frat brother is the hiring manager. He told me whoever they send to guy, he hires them on spot your interview is just him telling you what you will be doing. He trusts his boys are not sending him any fuck ups. Problem is its a waiting game they had to tell people to stay home for a bit. I can't wait on that gig forever.

Thinking of interviews got me kind of nervous hearing some are with more than just one or two people in the room.

So true but I know having the inside connect helped me ace the interviews because the pressure was off.
 
it is not what you know but who you know that will get you in the door it is what you know that will keep you there
 
I got my job selling fruit, bean pies and final call papers with the hookup from the mosk. When I said that told them that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught me personally that the white man is the devil they hired me on the spot!:yes: It's hot as fuck out here though:smh:
 
fam unless your resume has some work experience or education that truly sets you 3 steps ahead of the next candidate and u interview flawlessly, you prolly arent going to get a sweet ass job in this economy off the bat.

so u either...

get put on thru a (personal, school or biz) connect

take a weaker position and work your way up

take a "job" to pay the bills while you keep interviewing at other companies and networking to position yourself for a career.

create your own opportunity. self employment.


most recruiters at companies put ALOT of weight on social media now. so people are getting on thru their networks on linkedin, facebook. i have heard of people getting on through twitter too. how you move online, if you handle it right, can tell a hiring manager or recruiter alot about you. its just that most of us use social networks for bagging pussy instead.

at my job....its all about the hookup. people been gettin their cousins and family members through the door more than their resume has. and i've damn sho got people in with the hookup rather than their resume.
