How then is it that, with my own eyes, I can see the curvature of the Earth while standing on the bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan here in Milwaukee. I've been to other locations in the world with a vantage point where this can be observed out on the horizon.

In Afghanistan, there were mountain ridges that were so tall that at sunrise, you could see the corona of the sun with the naked eye. It was amazing to see...awe inspiring to say the least. There would be 5 minutes of twilight and then "click" the Sun popped up as though someone literally said "Let there be light!".

There are so many map projections, it's very difficult to represent the actual size of continents, but for the most part the mercator projection is most widely used. The problem with that is the earth is spherical, so sizes are skewed when going further north or south of the equator.

That what I was alluding to. The United States itself can fit easily inside of W. African part of the continent. The incorrect maps had Europe and North America at the top of the map with huge land masses. Meanwhile Africa, Asia, and South America were made comparably smaller and they are at the bottom. This was done by design to put whites up top and browns on the bottom.
