No MP. Other than it being a black protagonist I wouldn't have payed any attention to it. It's a next year $30 pickup.

Didn't get any posts in my BGOL Gears 4 thread but most of us will probably have half a dozen or more friends picking it up. So if you're looking for something new to play try Gears.

OPINION: Phil Spencer exposes biased gaming media and they go berserk

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past several years, you’d probably know about the vast differences between how an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 exclusive game would review. Since the start of the generation, gamers quickly realized that games launched on the Xbox would get significantly lower scores than their PlayStation counterpart. Beyond that, games launched on Xbox would get slammed for the same reasons a PlayStation 4 exclusive would be praised for.

Phil Spencer recently discussed this bias towards Xbox during an interview with GameSpot. He noted that the latest game that was unfairly targeted by a hateful gaming mob, ReCore, got extremely low scores to what the team was expecting. On top of this, many of the reviews were weirdly inconsistent. To put this into contrast, the same outlets that punished ReCore, gave the PlayStation 4 exclusive No Man’s Sky—a game that is still widely regarded as the worst game ever released—a higher score gladly looking past the constant crashing and lack of gameplay it had.

Phil also pointed out that recently the critically acclaimed Forza Horizon 3 received 4/10 reviews from certain outlets—even though it scored an average 91/100—and felt that this was an unfair targeting of Xbox exclusives. Funny enough, this is usually a phenomenon only visible on Xbox games. Quantum Break received a 4/10 review from certain outlets because the reviewer didn’t like third person shooters; not to mention the hilarious negative a large outlet gave Gears of War Ultimate for ‘too much A button’.

However, the most jarring is how gamers and the media reacted to Phil pointing out the inconsistency from reviewers; and how some of them are only out to mine clicks out of bad Xbox reviews. This same standard did not apply when Shuhei Yoshida—the head of PlayStation—snarkly made stabs at Polygon reviewers for their 7/10 review of The Last of Us—a game that received critical acclaim—and pointed out that they must have done it for the ‘clicks’.

The gaming media have shown their hairy legs one too many times for us as gamers not to notice, and their unflinching desire to ‘get at’ gamers and executives just so they can rake in the hits on their reviews and articles have become a knife in the industry’s back. Media outlets are quick to point out that each review is just an opinion from the reviewer, however if one employs people who are biased towards one company or the other isn’t it fair to point that out instead of ‘pretending’ to be an unbiased multi-platform site, while clearly favouring one platform to the other?

Phil Spencer shining a light on this is the first step towards a community and industry that needs to seriously look at themselves and decide which way they want to swing. Political outlets are clear in their reporting on which candidate they support, isn’t it time gaming outlets become more transparent instead of hiding behind the veneer of ‘multiplatform’ just so they can make love to a giant PlayStation in the back room.

Do you agree? Or do you prefer an unapologetic gaming media?

I always has an issue with the Sony bias but it is more directed at the fans. How can you win an E3 with games 3 years off?
And looking back on 2015, people said they won because of No Man's Sky, Street Fighter 5, Shenmue 3 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. All of which were announced as PC games. If Microsoft says that 1 game goes to PC it becomes "why even buy an XBox or they have no idea what exclusive means". Every damn time. And 2 of those games were incomplete and just plain ass.

Universal is making a Gears of War movie
Rod Fergusson says it’s “locked in”

Microsoft and The Coalition have partnered with Universal Studios to make a movie based the Gears of War franchise, Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson announced during a livestream today.

Fergusson said the Gears of War movie is in the pre-production stage and will be produced by Scott Stuber of Bluegrass Films. Stuber’s production credits include Ted, Central Intelligence and upcoming Boston Marathon bombing movie Patriots Day.

Further details, like a director, writer and release window for the Gears movie, were not announced.

When asked about plans for the Gears of War film adaptation, Fergusson said that they needed to come up with a great movie story first to appeal to a broader audience.

"When you do a movie like this, you have to ... realize that it's a different medium with a different audience," Fergusson said. "I think if you were to go in and say, like, 'OK, it's got to be completely 100 percent faithful to the game canon,' or the story of the game, like, what's going to end up happening is ... it's not going to be the best movie. The big thing we're really trying to focus on is making the best Gears movie possible, as opposed to the one that's the most closest to the game...

"I want it to be this thing where it feels authentic to Gears of War, but I want it to, like, blow people's minds because it's actually a great movie first, and then it pays homage to the source material second."

This isn’t the first time a Gears of War movie has been announced. Back in 2007, when the franchise was still with Epic Games, film studio New Line announced it was developing a Gears of War movie. Stuart Bettie (Collateral, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) was attached to write the screenplay with Len Wiseman (Underworld, Total Recall) signed on to direct.

I'm trading in the cod Xbox one tomorrow too. All I'll have is the gears s 2tb console

damn...only reason I don't trade in my PS4 is I went all digital this gen...so I'd get absolutely nothing for my games...some of which I haven't even played yet...I'm stuck w/ it til I beat those games @ least

Anybody got a good deal on a 12 month XBOX Live Gold Membership Digital Code?

Xbox offered 12 months for $47.99, but I know I can do better than that.

I found one for $39.35, but want to make sure if there wasn't a better one out there before I pull the trigger.

How to claim your free Kinect adapter for the Xbox One S

The brand-new Xbox One S doesn't include a port for the Kinect motion tracker — but you can get a free adapter, so it's all cool.

When Microsoft announced the latest iteration of its flagship console, the Xbox One S, it was noted that a Kinect port will be absent on the slimmed-down unit. With the company's focus on motion controls quickly diverging elsewhere, users will need a separate adapter to use the Kinect sensor on the console.

The Kinect sensor no longer ships with the latest Xbox One units, however, can be purchased separately from a number of retailers. If you choose to go out of your way to use the device, an adapter can be purchased directly from Microsoft for $39.99.

If you're an early adopter of Kinect, Microsoft has set up a program to provide free sensor adapters to those with older consoles. For a limited time, Xbox Support will be distributing these complementary adapters upon request.

Here's how to request your free Kinect adapter for the Xbox One S:

  1. Collect the serial numbers for your original Xbox One console, Xbox One S console and Kinect sensor. If you plan to trade in your original Xbox One console, it's crucial you collect the original console's serial number beforehand.
  2. Contact Xbox Support and request your free adapter. You'll be asked to hand over your three serial numbers, so make sure these are nearby.
Before contacting Xbox Support, it's recommended that you register your two consoles and Kinect sensor online. If registered prior to the call, the Xbox supervisor can quickly pull the serial numbers from your Microsoft account.

Are you planning to pick up a free Kinect adapter for the Xbox One S? Let us know in the comments!

so glad gears 4 is coming out on PC i thought i wasn't going to have any choice but to waste money on a crap box one to play the game

Yo @Gemini & @Slympickens82 let me know if there's an alternative shotgun to the gnasher. I haven't seen anything about it. I know they removed the sawed off along with the retro lancer.

EDIT: Never mind I just found something. There's a new smg called the enforcer and a 4 shot shotty with kickback called the overkill. The retro lancer is a pickup weapon now.

of course John Cena may wind up being Marcus Fenix..and Selma Blair as Anya :roflmao2:
It's not even about having the physique of the game models. They can get good actors who are willing to add about 25 pounds of muscle for the role. Terry Crews really is the best candidate for Cole Train though.

i got my kinect adp.5days after the xbox one s came out.its some bullshit because it has its own power source an all these extra wires to it.my shit looks like a damn science project.
yoooooo that mafia 3 is fucking dope!!i mean you get passed all the racist shit its a good solid game.they could have tighten the graphics up a little bit more but other then that i love the game. good story line so far, shooting is tight, driving is good, fighting is a bit weak i wish it had more of a combo fighting style but other then that i give this game about a 8.5 so far.what tripped me out was they used the word ****** 1 min into the damn game then again a few min after that..i said white folks did this to be funny.still a great game for the ones that havent picked it up yet.
