Xbox One Console Reviews

Mighty No. 9, the sidescrolling platformer from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune, has opened a second funding campaign with the purpose of delivering English voice acting to the project, due to release in 2015.

Mighty No. 9 already has raked in $4 million from last year's Kickstarter, exhausting all stretch goals in the process. Inafune says that anything collected in the new funding round will be put toward new features, and that the second round is meant to give those who missed the original Kickstarter a chance to contribute to the project still.

This round of funding is being conducted through PayPal. Additional stretch goals are anticipated but not yet named.

Also, as promised, Mighty No. 9 will deliver an animated cinematic series. Comcept, the developing studio, released that teaser trailer above yesterday. It is being produced by Tokyo-based Digital Frontier, which unveiled the trailer at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

Mighty No. 9 is slated for a Spring 2015 release on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Linux, Mac, Windows PC, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. For more on the game, see Polygon's interview with Inafune from September.

During a panel at RTX 2014, 343 Industries finally gave us a serious glimpse of the Xbox One Exclusive Halo: the Master Chief Collection in the form of a new trailer, new concept artwork and a livestream, a recording of which you can see below.

All the assets belong to Halo 2: Anniversary, which will be part of the collection including the first four halo games in a full package running at shiny 1080p and 60 frames per second. The concept artwork, that you can see at the bottom of the post, shows the Coagulation multiplayer map, which was officially announced today.

The livestream recording is courtesy of YouTube user woooshness, and it looks definitely lovely. I don’t know about you folks, but I feel just about ready for some more Halo.

If a new trailer, gameplay and concept art for Halo: The Master Chief Collection aren’t enough for you, YouTube user 0iah recorded the whole panel for your perusual.
The video includes a through overview of the game’s menus, including the control settings, that can be deeply customized separately for each game of the collection.

We also get some details on the improvements to Halo 2: Anniversary.

http://cdn3.dualshockers.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Halo2.jpg?57efa4

Modernization means taking advantage of things available now that simply weren’t ten years ago, like improved spawns, more robust feedback system and more power to customize games.

The assault rifle wasn’t in the multiplayer game, so they added it in the Director’s Cut alongside other weapons, since there was a lack of mid-range weapon options. The Magnum also has been tuned, meaning that the damage has been upped a little bit, and it “worked out really well.”

The Mongoose and Gungoose (which is basically a Mongoose with guns) have been added, and some additional vehicles that will be talked about at a later date. The Gungoose will be central to a completely new mode named Gungoose Capture the Flag.

Everything We Know About Maya So Far

  • Still has twin daggers named “Temperance” and “Vengeance”
  • Her daggers will be the bread and butter of her offense
  • They will be used in all of her punch-based normals
  • She can throw each of them independently and quickly after each other as they rebound off her oppenent
  • If you miss with a dagger throw you will lose access to all the moves associated with it until the dagger is retrieved from the ground
  • All dagger associated attacks will be temporarily disabled while in this state which will hinder offensive options
  • The daggers level up with consecutive hits
  • When the daggers level up they will gain new properties until you miss a throw

Just in time for the EVO Championships, green-and-black peripheral maker Razer announces an Xbox One version of its Atrox Arcade Stick. This made me happy, and then sad.

Happy because the Atrox is a lovely stick, built with complete customization in mind. Pop it open and all the wires are right there, ready to be swapped about as you see fit. You can swap out the ball-style joystick with a bat-type. It's got internal storage for all of the parts and tools needed, and a honeycombed bottom compartment to facilitate screw mounting. Oh, and it's got Sanwa components, because if an arcade stick doesn't everyone gets sad.

So yes, it's a lovely piece of hardware — for playing Killer Instinct. That's pretty much the only real fighting happening on the Xbox One right now. There's UFC, but that's not really an arcade stick sort of game, and Fighter Within is a sad little Kinect monkey.

So in order to really enjoy the Xbox One Atrox controller, you have to either be really into Killer Instinct, or patient enough to wait until Mortal Kombat X comes out next year. *sniff*

The Razer Atrox for Xbox One is now available at Razer's online store.

Nice to see a KI2 character show up. I thought that Cinder would be shown next because the end of the TJ Combo video seemed to hint at him coming.

Battlefield: Hardline Delayed To 2015

vd7qebxdfrwp6hgkij65.jpg

The next Battlefield game will no longer be out this fall—EA announced today that they've delayed Hardline to next year.

Developed by Visceral Games, the studio best known for Dead Space, Battlefield: Hardline is centered around police warfare. It was originally scheduled to be out this fall for PC and current- and last-gen consoles (minus Wii U).

This delay comes in the wake of the disastrous Battlefield 4, which ran into all sorts of bugs and technical issues when it was released last fall. Since then, EA has promised better things for the series, with EA boss Andrew Wilson mentioning to Kotaku boss Stephen Totilo the company's newfound willingness to delay games that they believe need more polish.

Here's <STRIKE>Colin</STRIKE> Karl Magnus Troedsson, GM of Battlefield developer DICE, explaining the delay:
Today we are announcing that Battlefield Hardline will launch in early 2015. Obviously, this is big news, so I'd like to address why we're making this change.

Back at E3, we launched a beta for Hardline — we wanted to not only show you the game, but to let you play it for yourselves. Millions of you jumped in and had a great time. As a result, the Visceral Games team learned a lot from players about what they wanted in the game. We've been pouring over the data and feedback, and have already been putting a lot of it right into the game and sharing it directly with you.

This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn't have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans.

Here are a few of the things the new timing will allow us to accomplish:

1. Multiplayer Innovation: Coming out of our E3 beta, internal focus tests, and work with our community, we have received a lot of great Multiplayer thinking. We're going to be adding some new feature ideas direct from the community that will evolve the cops and criminals fantasy into a truly unique Battlefield Multiplayer experience.

2. Single Player Story Depth: In order to ensure our Single Player experience delivers on player expectations, we're spending more time polishing our core features, as well as adding a few new ones that will support a deeper "crime revenge" story experience.

3. Stability: This has been a focus for our team since day one and we're going to be using the extra time to continue to optimize the game for a stable launch. We have learned a lot from Battlefield 4, are continuing to learn from our Community Test Environment and will learn more from another Hardline beta. More time allows us to surface issues that the team can attempt to fix prior to launch.

We are doing all of this for one reason. Because we want Battlefield Hardline to be the best game it can be, and so that we can create the best environment for a smooth launch for our players. We will give you updates on our progress and we'll regularly share updates along the way via Battlefield.com/Hardline as well as the Battlefield social channels.

In addition to the ongoing development of Hardline, it's important to note that the DICE teams continue to drive Battlefield 4. We continue to explore new opportunities for improvements and we are still releasing new content, including "Dragon's Teeth," the fourth expansion pack that launches worldwide on July 29, and "Final Stand" coming later this year. We remain committed to giving you the best BF4 experience possible.
