Xbox One Console Reviews

You read the headline correctly. And we are just as excited as you probably are! Telltale, the studio behind last year's critically-acclaimed Walking Dead video game series, is developing a new series based on Gearbox's Borderlands games.

They're going to call it Tales from the Borderlands, and it's debuting next year.

It appears to star some new characters who are not vault hunters. They're "wannabe vault hunters," according to Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford. The game is described as very much a Telltale game, with lots of story to it.

A short trailer at tonight's VGX teased what's got to be a dream collaboration between the makers of one of the most popular multiplayer shooters around and the makers of some of the best story-driven games going.

"You get to shoot stuff, but in a different way," said Telltale's Kevin Bruner at the show. "It's gonna play like a telltale game—you're going to be engaging characters and developing relationships, but it's very much in the borderlands world. It's this great hybrid of everything that's great about Borderlands and everything thats great about Telltale."

Hopefully the game is as cool as it sounds. Borderlands was already proof that a combo of shooter and loot-based RPG could work well. A combo of Gearbox and Telltale sounds pretty damn good, too.

Telltale is launching the first installment of their second season of their Walking Dead series later this month. They also just released a game based on the Fables comics and are rumored to be working on a Game of Thrones series. That's a mighty fine line-up.

Time stands still and stutters after an experiment gone wrong in Quantum Break, the first next-gen title from Remedy, the makers of Alan Wake. The studio showed off the game with a trailer at tonight's VGX. Here it is

First shown off at E3, Remedy treated us to a deeper look, with gameplay, at tonight's VGX. A key feature will be "junction moments" in which a player can see glimpses of different timelines, and choose which one to pursue. That will open multiple storylines off player decisions.

Remedy assures that this will be an action game at heart, though it will pack in a ton of cinematics and a deep science-fiction narrative.

No release date was announced.

Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment stopped by VGX 2013 to unveil a second Titan class, the Ogre, in some clips of new gameplay footage.

The studio previously showed off the Atlas class, an agile unit. The Titan known as the Ogre is equipped with heavy armor and is more of a slow, lumbering beast. In the video, you can see the Ogre's finishing move: ripping off a Titan's arm and using it as a weapon. Respawn also teased one of the story elements of Titanfall: Hammond Robotics, the corporation that manufactures and maintains the Titans.

Titanfall will be released March 11, 2014, on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC, and according to publisher Electronic Arts, it will remain exclusive to those platforms "for the life of the title."

Near the end of the VGX show, co-hosts Geoff Keighley and Joel McHale premiered a second Titanfall trailer that introduced another new Titan class: the Stryder. This Titan has relatively light armor, but it boasts better speed, acceleration and agility than all other Titan classes. After showing off the Stryder, the trailer moved into gameplay footage of a battle between a Stryder and an Ogre. You can see both videos embedded below.

pretty much, niggas just be lying to themselves these days. They want to believe so hard that the X box is even with the ps4 specs wise that they'll tell you anything.

This fairy faggot ass nigga that calls himself HeavenlyWings would come in talking dumb shit, quoting a fucking retard that's already had his statements debunked with facts..

I'd like to know how Sony is pulling off all that extra power when they're both using the same CPU, the same amount of RAM, and identical graphics cards...

"But XB1 upscalessss.....!!!"

Dumb fucking fanboys don't even know the half of what you're speaking on.. lol

The Division's Snowdrop Engine Renderings

I'd be impressed if I see any of the recently released consoles pulling off detailed renders like this in HD without the Graphics Card's going apeshit.

Rick what are u talkin about..i like both consoles but ps4 does have more power. it uses 8gb of ddr5 ram vs 8gb of ddr3. Ps4 has a custom hd 7850 vs 7790, which is where i get the 18 core vs 12. Educate urself.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/...-similar-specs-but-the-devils-in-the-details/

This dumb fuck has the audacity to tell me to "educate" myself, but didn't even take the time to even read the article he just posted.. :smh:

In any case, we certainly aren't looking at the kind of difference in graphical quality you see in some cross-platform games from earlier in the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation, where graphical details could differ significantly between platforms. As we've mentioned, these two consoles are largely capable of rendering the exact same scene in the exact same way. Even though the Xbox One has a slightly faster CPU, the PS4 has a larger GPU. And both consoles take different approaches to delivering developers similar amounts of memory and memory bandwidth.

One thing is clear: the era of the console wars that focused entirely on raw specifications is already on the wane following the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation. You have to dig pretty deep and have strong moral objections to resolution scaling to find significant arguments about console specs in this day and age (unless you're arguing about the Wii U, of course).

That same article also corroborated what I said earlier about resolution difference being solely on the developer.. This clearly stated that native 1080p is possible (why wouldn't it be when there are phones out that can operate in native 1080?), but they opted to upscale simply because the developers didn't have the time to - or didn't take the time - to figure out Xbox One's memory configuration..

Still, this is another area where a resource- and time-strapped cross-platform developer might opt to simply lower the resolution or texture quality for the Xbox One version rather than fine-tune things specifically for Microsoft's memory configuration.

Now fuck off with your fanboy bullshit man.. The article you tried to use to make your point just told you there is ZERO difference this gen, and if there was a difference it would even be so miniscle that it would take sophisticated tools to calculate..

You don't even have the technical knowledge to deduce what 99% of these specs mean, and you're simply parroting tech articles that you don't even have the reading comprehension to understand..

Maybe YOU should educate yourself instead of looking like a fool, proving my points?..

its clear that there is no win with u all i said is that it has more power..u didnt highlight none of the points that showed more teraflops and what not but whatever.

its clear that there is no win with u all i said is that it has more power..u didnt highlight none of the points that showed more teraflops and what not but whatever.

And all I said was that the statement you just made is a complete fallacy, with ZERO ground to stand on.. You want to talk teraflops, but you don't even know what a fucking teraflop is, or what it does without going to Wikipedia..

At the end of the day, the article YOU posted said there isn't a graphical difference, the Xbox One has a faster CPU, and resolution differences are due to lazy developers like I told your dumb ass from the start...

This is gonna be sick! Borderlands 2 was a masterpiece it won GOTY . It's up there with Skyrim. I surely played it as much as Skyrim. Can't wait til they make Borderlands 3.

Don't need to watch that video to know why VGX sucked...

Whoever put that shit together should be fired.. Castrated, subjected to a lashing, Tarred and feathered... God that was the worst award show ever.. :smh:

Xbox One: Hard Drive Full at 362GBs

Thank god for that external hard drive support. (next year though...)

Modders have managed to unlock mouse and keyboard support on Xbox One - as well as the use of pretty much any other kind of controller.

The video below shows DualShock 3 and 4 pads, a Wii Pro Controller, and a mouse and keyboard being used to control Xbox One launch titles Killer Instinct and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

It's made possible via the latest version of the CronusMAX mod, which is now compatible with Xbox One consoles.

"This is perfect for those who love their old 360 controllers, or had a real expensive modded 360 controller and now don't have to worry about buying another," modding outfit Team Xecutor explained. "Or want that extra edge by playing with a keyboard and mouse."

It goes without saying that modding your console is a risky business and instantly invalidates any warranty. It can also give players a sneaky natural advantage when using alternative controller types. Tut.

A new Xbox One system update will go live tonight at 8pm Eastern, Microsoft says. The update will address issues involving SmartGlass and multiplayer functionality, among other things.
Via Microsoft's Major Nelson, here's what's coming:

  • * Addresses SmartGlass issues for some users when coming in and out of connected standby
  • * Addresses multiplayer issues for some users when re-joining games
  • * Addresses issues with inconsistent notifications for some users
  • * Addresses dashboard performance for some users
  • * Offers improvements for Xbox One's TV, system update, and content update services for scaling over time
  • * Updated wireless networking driver to improve connectivity issues for some users

Microsoft says if you're using the Xbox One "Instant On" feature, the console will automatically download the update when you turn it off and install it when you next turn the Xbox on. If you're not using Instant On, the update will automatically download after Thursday.

This comes a week after widespread complaints about the Xbox One's operating system and interface. Microsoft execs have promised that they're listening to fan feedback on those issues. In today's update, Major Nelson says more system improvements are coming over the next year or so.
