Titanfall's analog of the Prestige mode from Call of Duty is called Generations, and some of the game's maps contain features like ziplines and turrets, according to a purported leak of screenshots and information posted on the Titanfall subreddit today.

Citing a "reliable source pouring me information," Reddit user FallenFusion is posting details about Titanfall beyond what has been revealed by NeoGAF user RazorUK, who has been scouring the files of the beta on Windows PC over the last few weeks. In addition to 10 screenshots posted on Imgur (see below) that each show off a different map, FallenFusion has been providing information on elements like Generations.

According to a leaked screenshot of Generations, once Titanfall players reach the level cap, they'll be able to reset their progress — experience, unlocks and completed challenges, but not their Burn Card collection — to become a second-generation pilot, with a total of 10 generations to complete. Second-generation pilots earn experience at a rate that's 10 percent faster than normal; it appears that the rate keeps increasing for future generations. According to FallenFusion, some of Titanfall's 15 maps feature ziplines (see screenshot) that Pilots can use to traverse the land. And some arenas contain heavy turrets that are fixed, but can be hacked to fight for either team.

Titanfall's campaign reportedly features nine different matches — five rounds of Attrition (team deathmatch), and four of Hardpoint — and they're playable from both sides, Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation and Militia. Along with those two modes and the previously announced Capture the Flag and Last Titan Standing game types, Titanfall will apparently offer a fifth option called Pilot Hunter. In that mode, one point is awarded for every Pilot (human player) killed. Taking down AI opponents provides no points, but does lower the time to earn titans and regenerate the titan core ability.

We've reached out to developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts for comment on the leak, and will update this article with any information we receive. Titanfall will be released March 11 on PC and Xbox One, and on March 25 on Xbox 360. To see the beta in action, check out our 20-minute Overview video below.

Call Of Duty Multiplayer Goes Free This Weekend On Xbox Live

MilitaryCOD610.jpg

Activision and Infinity Ward are making some of Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer free on Xbox Live this weekend. This demo-style experience will include a limited number of maps and modes.

Three maps will be available to those participating in the demo: Strikezone, Warhawk, and Prison Break. Three competitive game types will be available, including team deathmatch, search and rescue, and domination. Additionally, Extinction mode will give players a taste of cooperative play.

Demo players will be in their own pool (sorry, veterans, no fresh meat for you), and progress won’t carry over to the full version. Still, if you want to see what this year’s Call of Duty feels like (especially on new-generation hardware), this weekend is a perfect opportunity.

The demo weekend will be live for Xbox One and Xbox 360 from 10 am PST on Friday, March 7, through Monday, March 10. You can read our review of Call of Duty: Ghosts for more on this year's installment.

Our Take
This is new ground for the Call of Duty series, and a smart move in an increasingly competitive shooter landscape. A multiplayer demo gives players a chance to put Call of Duty: Ghosts alongside Titanfall back to back. The only thing that would make it stronger is progress carrying over to the full version should someone choose to purchase (even within a limited time).

UPDATE (10:36am): And now it's official—WB has announced Arkham Knight via this month's Game Informer. It'll be a big open world Gotham featuring Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and a driveable Batmobile. Out for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 later this year. Original story follows:

An early GAME UK retail leak has spoiled today's big Batman reveal: it's Batman: Arkham Knight, the final game in the Arkham series, and it'll be out this year for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

Last week, GameStop started receiving marketing materials for Arkham Knight, which match up with the box art above. This will be the third Batman game by Rocksteady, the studio behind Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Last year's Arkham Origins was developed by WB Montreal.

Looks like the Batmobile is driveable, and Scarecrow will be the main villain. Seems like there's no current-gen version, which is good news, as they won't have to scale down anything to fit into old hardware.

Rumors have swirled about Rocksteady's next Batman game for quite some time now, after Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy accidentally mentioned that he was working on an Arkham game that was not Origins.

The Xbox Music app on Xbox One now offers more than 92,000 music videos, Microsoft announced today on Xbox Wire.

Xbox Music users can play a single song, cue up a playlist or listen to an artist-based radio stream, and if the song that's playing has a music video associated with it, the video will automatically play in HD on the television.

Music videos have been available on Xbox 360 since the console's music app was called Zune Music; the app was rebranded to Xbox Music in October 2012, and the Zune branding was retired last year. Music videos aren't available in Xbox Music on any other platforms besides Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The service itself is also available in browsers and on Android, iOS, Windows 8 and Windows Phone.

The March system update for Xbox One is starting to roll out today, addressing some of the biggest feedback you’ve shared with us.

This significant update includes improved matchmaking, party chat and friends features that will make gaming on Xbox One an experience like no other. This update means next week you’ll be able to enjoy Titanfall on the best multiplayer service on the planet, using a new headset or the one you already own, while live broadcasting your games on Twitch (when the updated Twitch app arrives next week.)

Take a look at some of these new features in action:

How do you get the new update? For the vast majority of Xbox One owners who use “Instant On” (the low power state that allows you to instantly power up your console by saying “Xbox On”), the console automatically checks for updates when customers turn it off. This means that once we’ve made the March update available (late tonight, Pacific Time), the next time you turn your console off it will take the update during off-peak hours in your local time. Ultimately, you’ll see it sometime in the next day or two.

For more information on this system update, click over to Xbox Wire. Here is a longer list of the features you’ll see in this update:

Nice... You had to say "Xbox, Volume Up" like 20 times to get to a decent volume before... :smh:

Sounds like the newest Batman game, Arkham Knight, won't just ship without a last-gen version; it also won't include multiplayer. However, it will feature longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy, reprising his role as Batman.

The latest Game Informer has got all sorts of tidbits of information about the game, which will feature the Scarecrow as a primary antagonist and a drivable Batmobile, bringing with it a Gotham big enough to handle a drivable Batmobile. And unlike last year's Batman: Arkham Origins, Arkham Knight will return to the series' singleplayer-only roots.

Speaking with Game Informer, Arkham Knight game director Sefton Hill said that they had always planned the game as singleplayer only, and have been so focused on single-player that they wouldn't have had time to do anything else. "We want to focus on making the best single-player experience we can," Hill told Game Informer. "We don't feel that it needs a multiplayer element."

I'm all for it - I didn't feel like Rocksteady needed to add multiplayer to either Arkham City or Asylum, so here's hoping the new game is as complete-feeling as the first two were.

A few other cool bits from the Game Informer preview:

  • The game's combat programmer Tim Hanagan says that thanks to the power of the new consoles, there are between three and four times the number of thugs active in Gotham as there were in Arkham City. Some larger riots feature up to 50 characters on screen. That's a lot of dudes.

  • After sitting out last year's Arkham Origins, Kevin Conroy will indeed be returning to play the role of the Dark Knight, as he accidentally hinted at last year. Nolan North, Wally Wigbert, Tara Strong and Troy Baker will also return to reprise their roles as Penguin, Riddler, Harley Quinn and Two-Face. Nice!

  • According to GI, the game uses a "juiced-up version of Rocksteady's custom modified Unreal engine," which could mean a number of things but seems like it'll still use Unreal engine 3, not Unreal 4.

  • "Arkham Knight" is apparently the name of a new archrival in the game. It's an entirely new character being created from scratch by DC's Geoff Johns. Interesting.
There's a bunch more in Game Informer, along with a lengthy written preview of a big chunk of the game. You can find the issue in stores or get it digitally through their site.

Metareview: South Park - The Stick of Truth

There may be friendly faces everywhere, but the South Park: The Stick of Truth launch trailer is prolifically NSFW, and it's slightly spoiler-y - but it's also pretty great. The game's not bad, either, according to our three-and-a-half-star review, which said, "If you can also forgive the repetitive nature of combat and some uninspired quests, it's worth taking up arms – or dildos – for The Stick of Truth's hilarious, disgusting adventure."

Of course, we're not the only kid in the class. Head below the break for a sampling of what others had to say on The Stick of Truth.

  • Giant Bomb (5/5): "The Stick of Truth is the best South Park game by a country mile, but even removed from the franchise's dismal history with video games, it's also just one of the funniest games I've ever played. It pays tribute to the series' long history of memorably offensive jokes while also delivering an original story hilarious enough to stand on its own. Even more importantly, its gameplay is in no way an encumbrance to your enjoyment. Obsidian has fashioned an honest-to-god RPG out of the South Park universe, one with enough depth and longevity to hold your interest even when the comedy takes a breather."

  • IGN (9.0/10): "The Stick of Truth makes one thing abundantly clear: I never want to play another South Park video game made without Trey Parker and Matt Stone's direct, intimate involvement. With a controller in your hand, you are almost literally – gloriously – playing a 14-hour episode of South Park. There's much, much more here for series fans than the uninitiated, but it's a light but good quality role-playing game in its own right. It is, in a way, Season 18 all by itself. It is funny, shocking, self-effacing, and pretty much everything I could ask for from a South Park game -- even if it's mostly a one-and-done experience."

  • GamesRadar (4.5/5): "Though some elements of South Park: The Stick of Truth are poorly explained, and you might find yourself growing tired of the combat by the end of the 12-hour journey, Obsidian's RPG is an absolutely fantastic, surprising experience. It's great for those willing to favor story and comedy over innovative gameplay--and still a damn fun time for anyone interested in a light, open-world RPG. Instead of a game trying to be South Park, it actually feels like you're playing South Park, and playing South Park is... well, it's pretty fucking kick-ass."

  • The Escapist (4/5): "Even though it does threaten the player's resolve at times, The Stick of Truth is still a surprisingly enjoyable title, and the first South Park game to truly feel like it has some real soul behind it. Rather than the litany of Family Guy and Simpsons games out there, this isn't just a reel of out-of-context references to the TV show, strung lazily together in the hopes of coaxing a nostalgic smile. While there are indeed many nods to South Park episodes, they've been woven quite nicely into the plot, propelled by original content that is genuinely funny in its own right. Plus, there are just enough jokes made at the expense of video games and live-action roleplaying to keep the geeks among the audience happy."

  • Shacknews (6/10): "As an RPG, it's hard to recommend South Park: The Stick of Truth, given that there are a number of more polished titles that offer deeper battle systems and much larger worlds. As a South Park game, however, this is easily at the head of the class, nailing the show's humor at just about every turn. Even with its shortcomings, South Park fans owe it to themselves to play through The Stick of Truth's story, as it's paced and structured very much like the show's classic three-part episodes. This is very much a game for fans of the show only."

Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Takes Up Enough Memory To Be a Full Xbox 360 Game

GameInformer has continued their trend of major scoops by unveiling Batman: Arkham Knight as their newest front cover. Arkham Knight is the finale in Rocksteady’s popular series of Batman: Arkham titles, and is a new-gen exclusive. Gamplay details include a brand new antagonist named “Arkham Knight” designed by Rocksteady and a mind-bogglingly detailed Batmobile. GameStop earlier revealed that Arkham Knight will be releasing October 14th this year.

Super gaming forum Neogaf has summarised all of the key details from the Game Informer article, which features tons of juicy information about the upcoming game.

Among the highlights are that it features a “brand new villain” created by Rocksteady who is called ‘Arkham Knight’; there will be new moves for Bats to perform using the batmobile; there are some insanely high polygon counts (one character model has the same as the Arkham Asylum environments); and that the batmobile has been designed to be the best car to ever feature in a game – ever.

The batmobile is so detailed it takes up around 160mb of memory alone due to the textures, shaders, and hundreds and thousands of polygons used. With the Xbox 360 only having 512mb of RAM and 256mb of that being dedicated to the CPU, that’s more than half a full Xbox 360 before anything else is even added. It’s basically a full Xbox 360 game.

There is also confirmed to be no multiplayer whatsoever – Arkham Knight is a single player game through-and-through. The map will be a massive 5 times larger than Arkham City (wow!) and there will be absolutely no load times, including when transitioning into buildings.

Batman will be a more versatile character this time around, able to use his weapons and gadgets in mid-flight, take advantage of new freeflow combat and predator moves, and put the batmobile to various uses.

The total summary is below. Hat-tip again to Neogaf for the great work.

  • Last Batman game for Rocksteady, will work on something totally new next.

  • There will be a brand new villain, something made by Rocksteady that they say will be the ultimate test for Batman

  • Batmobile can be called at any moment with a button.

  • The city streets are much wider to allow for the batmobile. You will rocket jump off ramps and do all sorts of cool maneuvers.

  • You can eject jump out of the batmobile right into a super fast glide straight through the glass of a building to knock out enemies. They said glass breaking will be a big new thing.

  • New moves include being able to use all your gadgets during flight. You now have a counter throw where you counter a guy and throw him into another guy. A new quick ground takedown. A quick backflip where you then throw a batarang in an enemies face.

  • For the predator sections you can now chain takedowns of up to four enemies. For instance pop out of a grate and take one guy, jump to the next and so on. You can now enter grates from a distance, he will automatically do a jump or roll to enter them.

  • Riddler challenges seem to be car based. The first one has you enter a sort of Riddler race track where you have to activate walls and ramps, when you activate one another closes so as you drive you have to be constantly turning on and off these ramps as you navigate the course.

  • Batmobile fires missles and stun guns. It destroys anything it touches so if you bump into cars the cars go flying. It’s basically unstoppable.

  • Story is that after Joker’s death all the criminals decided to work together and their plan comes together this night where they plan to kill batman. The article talks mostly about Scarecrow, he scattered bombs throughout Gotham.

  • Oracle will play a larger role, you get to visit her base and talk to her, tons of batman easter eggs included.

  • Kevin Conroy is Batman, all the previous voice actors are back.
  • Gothom City is 5 times bigger than AC. Split into 3 areas. NO LOAD TIMES at all, entering buildings is seemless.

  • They spend a bunch of time talking about how detailed the models are, one character has more polygons than the environment of Asylum.

  • Batman will start off with the old batsuit and upgrade at some point in the game.

  • It says it is running on their modified Unreal engine.

  • All quickfire gadgets can now be used during flight.

  • Combat tweaks (note: Not enough time to go over these in detail. for example, you can throw by tilting left towards the opponent and hitting counter)

  • did I mention the screenshots are gorgeous?

  • Arkham Knight isn’t just the name of the game.. it’s also the name of the [new] villain.

  • Fear Takedowns. ie, burst out of grate, action slows down allowing you to target another goon for another attack and so on. Can be used on groups up to 3 as long as they’re close enough together and no one has already spotted Batman.
  • They seem to try to tackle the old school Arkham issue of “open door – black screen loading”

  • The game looks gorgeous. Huge.

  • “This is a single-player game. There is no multiplayer.”

  • You can launch into a fast glide from the Batmobile just like the trailer.

  • No more pre-rendered cinematics everything is done in engine

  • The larger riots can have up to 50 people flipping cars and looting stores

  • You can now use the linear launcher on anything to create ziplines. This is done in mid flight so you can quickly land where you want.

  • All enemies now have the ability to grapple Batman, not just big guys.

  • Roads wont have many vehicles, just some thug cars and cop cruisers

  • There can be enemy riots, up to 50 enemies on screen at once.

  • More Riddler type challenges than just racing.

  • By not being cross-gen they’ve been able to push what the machines can do

  • Rocksteady describe Arkham Knight as “a real, genuine next-gen game”

  • There is no multiplayer in Arkham Knight. Rocksteady is focused on “making the best single-player experience it can” and doesn’t feel it needs multiplayer.

  • Game Informer says Rocksteady isn’t saying what’s next but “it’s most definitely not Batman related”

  • The finale has been in mind since the development of Arkham City

  • Rocksteady is emphasising the detail is more important than the scale of the world. They don’t want to create the biggest open-world, they want to create the richest, densest and most vibrant

  • Batmobile is designed to be “the best car in any game ever”, it takes up around 160mb of memory in game and will just about fit in an Xbox 360 (if that was the whole game). There are hundreds of thousands of polygons, as well as textures and shaders used on it

  • Characters

  • -Things such as Gordon’s trench coat and Batman’s cape now have Apex cloth
  • physics. They react realistically to changes in wind and movement

  • -When it rains rains bead of water run down Batman’s suit tracing every groove
  • -The wrinkles on Gordon’s face crinkle as he talks

  • The City

  • -The city is as detailed as ever with realistic moving clouds with the moon shining through

  • -Halloween characters and balloons litter the street adding a creepy vibe

  • -Neon signs of the various shops shine brightly around the city

  • -The skyline has helicopters and blimps flying through it

  • -Steam puffs out of the sewers in a realistic way
