Report: Microsoft May Be Looking Into Acquiring a Major PlayStation Developer
So yesterday,we posted a reportindicating thatMicrosoftcould be looking to acquire even more studios in 2019, following its pick-up of such talents as Obsidian Entertainment and Ninja Theory. But now a new rumor suggests that the company is looking to strike a blow against Sony by picking up one of its own superstar developers.
The report comes from a Twitter user by the name of Klobrille, who also provided us the details for yesterday’s story. According to them, he noted that Microsoft is in “advanced talks” with this studio, which hasn’t been identified.
Said Klobrille in his tweet, “Let’s make this Monday a bit more interesting. I can say that Xbox is in advanced talks (a few months) with a mid-sized studio that historically worked together with PlayStation a bit. No name dropping because of ongoing negotiations for now, but it’s interesting nonetheless.”
Note the word “mid-sized.” That means it obviously wouldn’t be one of Sony’s AAA teams, like Naughty Dog, but it would instead be with someone the publisher has worked with before, but doesn’t own.
Now, before you go thinking, “Well, Insomniac Games, duh. They worked with Microsoft onSunset Overdriveand the company obviously wants a sequel,” hold tight. A fellow Twitter user asked Klobrille if it is, in fact, Insomniac, to which he responded, “No.”
So that leaves a rather interesting question up in the air. Who could Microsoft possibly be going after? A number of studios have worked with Sony in the past that could be easy nominees, such as Housemarque, who worked on such shooters asResogunandSuper Stardust HD; as well as Bluepoint Games, who did an amazing job putting togetherShadow of the Colossusfor PlayStation 4 earlier this year, and has a secret port of another hit game in the works, which could be revealed any day now.
Take the report with a grain of salt, mainly because it’s coming from a user on Twitter with no confirmation of any kind from Microsoft or the studio it’s talking to. But if the company behind the Xbox brand is doing this, it could very well bolster its line-up for its next generation of hardware, as well as a fewXbox Onegames.

Anthem Closed Alpha Xbox One X Enhancements And File Size Revealed
Anthem is one of the games coming out in 2019 and closed alpha is just a day away before selected players can play. While we wait for the Anthem closed alpha to go live, its file size and Xbox One X enhancements have been revealed.
Trueachievements has gained access to Anthem Closed alpha and revealed the file size and Xbox One X enhancements. According to the site, the closed alpha will take 20.05 GB of HDD space. As for the Anthem Xbox One X enhancements, Anthem closed alpha supports Ultra 4K HD and HDR 10 format.
The Closed alpha for Anthem will start on December 8, 2018, and will continue till December 9. Also, those who play the closed alpha won’t be allowed to talk about the game.
The closed alpha is a playtest for Anthem and the purpose of it is to test the matchmaking before the game is officially released.
Speaking of Anthem, a new trailer for the game will debut today at the Game Awards 2018. We might also get to see some new Anthem gameplay at the event.
Furthermore, Bioware is known for its single-player games with a focus on story and RPG elements. With Anthem that is all about to change. But, for Bioware it is Invigorating. According to creative director Jonathan Warner, talking about Anthem gameplay instead of its world and narrative is very invigorating.
"It’s very refreshing, it’s invigorating. And usually, when you talk about a Mass Effect or a Dragon Age, people invariably end up talking about the plots or the points, and it’s very refreshing, when people talk about Anthem, they talk about flying or fighting monsters, or the gear, the Javelins, and it’s been a great opportunity for us to put gameplay first."
Also, Bioware has promised that it won’t use the same facial animation tech as Mass Effect Andromeda. According to Bioware, they have moved on to a new technique so that the weird facial animations don’t break the immersion.
Anthem is an open-world multiplayer game in development at Bioware. The game rolls out on February 22, 2019, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The trailer showed an in game scene of all 3 character traveling together.
If you can switch between characters on the fly, this might be GOTY.
Imagine the endless combo possibilities. Hitting a move as Dante, switch styles and weapon, hitting two more moves, switch to Nero and immediately pull off a couple moves, switch between other dude and bounce a enemy off the wall, switch back to Dante and go for the kill.
