EA Didn’t Change Anything. They Just Postponed Their Money Grab Scheme.

Before we start talking about EA I just want to ask the people who decided not to buy Battlefront 2 to stay by that decision. We did a great thing, Reddit forced EA to stand down but this is not over, they have one more trick up their sleeve.

A small recap for people who don’t know how this all mess started in the first place. A Reddit user calculated that we need 40 hours of gameplay to unlock a single hero in Battlefront 2, then another website calculated that to unlock everything you will need over 4500 hours of gameplay or $2100 to unlock everything in the game. EA then tried to justify the 40 hour gameplay with “we wanted to give you a sense of accomplishment”, ended up with the most downvoted comment in the history of Reddit, DICE devs held an AMA and only answered irrelevant questions aaaaaaand here we are… A few days later we are presented with this!

Now this message is probably meant for someone who is either very gullible or someone who doesn’t know that we are dealing with the worst company of the year award winner. Two times in a row… What EA is trying to do here is probably the most disgusting thing they pulled off in a while. They are trying to convince us that they are actually listening to the feedback. Are you? Then please let us know which beta players said: “Hey guys, you should add lootboxes and an ability to unlock characters for money while making them almost impossible to unlock for casual players.” Please point us in their direction and we will be off your back for good.

These people aren’t listening to anyone except their shareholders. This is a company that wants profit and they will get it if we let them. Removing in-game purchases is one thing, but removing them while we all by the game and then bringing it back is something else. If you listened we were loud and clear on this one – WE ALREADY PAID YOU FOR THE GAME, WE DON’T WANT TO PAY FOR IN-GAME ITEMS! If you are having problems reading that please email me for a detailed explanation.

What really happened here is this. They probably had a board meeting where they exchanged ideas on how to look good to the public but also save the profits and this is the solution. F*ck the community over by pretending that we are listening and when everything settles down just get back to the original plan.

I will say this one last time. This is EA people. What we forced them to do is fantastic but let’s not let them win! Don’t buy the game, let them learn a lesson and always remember, this isn’t just EA. This is a message for every game publisher. What EA experienced in the past few days will make others reconsider their moves regarding in-game purchases. We won the first battle but the war is still not over!

We are out numbered breh. Everyone I talk with is on my nephew status. He treats 2k18 like his own in game sprite commercial and he's Lebron. All i see is 6'9 orange hair crazy cuts shooting like Steph dudes pulling up b4 crossing half court.

All I want for Christmas is a realistic basketball sim.

True....i not playing vc this year so my player sucks...

man I’m so sold on 4k...completely shits on 1080...crazy...and mufuckas said 8k is in existence?? shit
Yeah, Once I started 4k, couldn't go back. PC gamers been on 4k for some years now. 8k should be affordable by next holiday season(32 inch screen in like $3500 now). I heard 8k looks insane.

My cuz lives in Japan with his fam. He's watched 8k footage he's never been one to hype tech up. So when he said its "way too real" talking about 8k I knew something special is coming around the bend.

To buy games?

Shit, Xbox live is having their sale now. Lots of games 20-30% off

Cool. Im trying to see what's best for 4k blu rays and video games. I already came up with the bargin box at bestbuy 5.99 blu ray bend. I already say Tom Cruise Oblivion 4k movie for 10 bucks on amazon.

I know bestbuy was talking half of some games. Im trying to see what wally world was on.

FFXV is coming to the pc in 2018 with 8k support.:eek:I remember when 4k was first breaking out and you had fools saying it was overkill and talking about the human eye can't tell the difference. Bullshit. You have to be blind not to be able to tell the difference on a quality display, and 8k is 4 times 4k. Imagine something like Assassin's Creed Origins in 8k? :eek2:

What's crazy is they already doing 16k. I'm just glad consoles finally getting 4k so developers can step their game up.

Agreed. When it comes to tech, and high end shit don't bother with these fools. I remeber seeing 4k for the first time at a tech show. The clarity and picture was on 20. I was :slobber: on some Pookie from New Jack vibe. I offered real money trying to buy a tablet size tv off the wall and was told :cmonson: Gtfoh.

Im beyond excited for 8k. :hypnotised:

the thing for me is movies/shows...I watch them far more than I game...so I’ll probably be on 4k for a minute...I’ve seen some flicks and shows in 4k thanks to netflix but I still feel like I won’t get maximum use out of my TV until those 4k dls come down in size...we might need a new file type...kinda like what mkv did for 720/1080 quality vids

I only play offline shit in games so this "pay to play" movement doesn't really effect me but it is ruining games. I stopped fucking with MyPlayer, MyGM and any other game that you have to pay more money just to "keep up with Joneses". It's sad that gaming has come to that but it's the gamer's fault. You got these hardcore nerd types shelling out all their allowance and shit.

Best Buy has 4k blu rays for 10 bucks. Hopefully Leroy u can afford a few this year. They heard bgol rant and rave so they answered ya prayers. Fuck downloading Pirated shit i ain't screwing up my pc with corrupt files.

8K TV – everything you need to know
8k_tv_v3.jpg

While many of us are only just getting used to the idea of 4K TV, some brands and broadcasters are already investigating 8K resolution video...

Yes, 8K video could one day be a reality. It may not be any time soon, and there's no guarantee it will ever happen, but from 8K TVs to 8K broadcasts, there is already plenty of investigation into how 8K content could become a reality.

It's fair to say 4K TV is now mainstream. That doesn't mean we're all watching it, all of the time, but if you're sizing up a new TV, and you care about picture quality, 4K resolution should be on the spec sheet.

And, thanks to Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, 4K Blu-ray, BT and Sky, there is finally 4K content to watch. With what looks set to be the first 4K World Cup just around the corner, it really is a great time to get involved.

But, as ever in consumer electronics, there is always something new on the horizon. The prospect of 8K certainly shouldn't affect your eagerness to go 4K, but to be informed is to be empowered, so we thought we'd round up the 8K state of play for the future-gazers among us. So, who's working on 8K? And when could it really become a reality? Read on.

What is 8K?

8k_resolution_chart.jpg

First, let's take it back to basics. What we're talking about here is resolution. This means the number of horizontal and vertical pixels. Pixels equal information, so more pixels should mean a better quality image. That's the theory, at least.

In the case of 8K, this means a horizontal resolution of 7680 pixels and a vertical resolution of 4320 pixels, or 4320 resolution video.

By comparison, 4K video has half the number of horizontal lines and half the number of vertical lines (3840 x 2160), for a resolution of 2160. Full HD is 1920 x 1080, or 1080.

All this combines to mean 8K has four times as many pixels as 4K, and 16 times the number of Full HD.

Who is making 8K content?

8K video developments to date have largely been driven by filmmakers and TV broadcasters.

From a video-editing point of view, the higher resolution can be useful. While filmmakers may not ultimately deliver an 8K film, shooting in the higher resolution gives editors room to manoeuvre, allowing for cropping and zooming while still retaining a high-resolution image. That said, 6K cameras are currently far more prevalent in Hollywood.

Meanwhile in Japan, broadcasters have been experimenting with 8K TV for some time. Back in 2015, the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation, NHK, ran a series of 8K trials, and in 2016, the company announced it was successfully demoing broadcasting in 8K.

The Korean Broadcasting Corporation (KBS) is also researching 8K broadcasts, working with LG on content, possible broadcasts and displays, with 4K and 8K broadcasts being mooted for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

What about 8K TVs?

sharp_8k_tv.jpg

So if we can see the fledgling sprouts of 8K content, what about the compatible devices on which to play 8K video?

Trade shows such as CES and IFA are the perfect place for TV manufacturers to showcase their latest and often craziest new tech, so it's perhaps no surprise we've seen a few 8K screens in recent years.

LG and Samsung both showed off 8K TV prototypes at CES 2015, while Sharp went a step further, offering an 85in 8K TV for sale in Japan later that year.

Perhaps choosing to ignore that, and in search of some headlines, LG claimed the world's first production 8K TV in 2016.

Returning the favour, and adding an air of ridiculousness to proceedings, Sharp has this year said that its LC-70X500 8K TV will be the first consumer-ready 8K TV to go on sale. The price? A frankly silly US $73,000.

Regardless of the headline-grabbing, there are clearly 8K screen plans afoot with various manufacturers.

When will we be watching 8K?

8k_tv_broadcasts.png

If you're in the UK, Europe or US, we're fairly confident in saying, "not any time soon".

We're always interested in the latest technology, and it pays to keep abreast of the latest developments, but we don't think 8K TV should be something affecting your buying decision now or in the near future.

As we've seen with 4K, adoption takes time. Even while 4K TV uptake has by all accounts happened faster than HD, it remains in 2017 the exception rather than the norm.

Shop floors may be full of 4K screens, but the vast majority of content is viewed by consumers in HD at best, with big broadcasters such as the BBC and ITV still not delivering 4K content.

Thanks to the football World Cup, 2018 - some five years after the first 4K TVs went on sale - could be a breakthrough year for 4K broadcasts, meaning even if 8K has made it on to the long-term plan, there's a serious queue.

In Korea and Japan, however, they're not wasting any time. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics is the aggressive target for showcasing 8K TV in Japan, while the 2018 Winter Olympics have been mentioned as a target in Korea.

But there are plenty of hurdles: we need content to be created, the infrastructure for it to be distributed, and the equipment to watch it. There's also the not inconsiderable issue of storage - 4K is already a serious space-hogger for bang-up-to-date technology.

So, for now, 8K is by no stretch guaranteed to ever hit the mainstream - let alone any time soon. But never say never...

Lol at them saying 8k may never come out, bullshit! It's coming, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. That's like saying 5G may come out, 5G is coming out of too.

8k is coming sooner then most think. If you've gone to any of the major tech shows u will see many of these posters and articles are on some nonsense.

We should be on par with Japan as far as tech. I see lazy folk ie here and elsewhere happy with their shitty 1080 pc monitor and dvd's when 4k blu rays are the same price and better quality. Lazy sheep consumers and greed are killing innovation.

Individuals wanna act as if buying higher end tech is a bad idea. People have different hobbies and they enjoy different things.

Are the specs on the TCL outstanding vs an OLED?
That video Gemini posted he said that TV is on par with name brand TV's like Sony and Samsung. I forgot the specs he mentioned but from all the customer reviews I read people love that TCL especially for the price. 55 inch for $399, that's outstanding!

Japan is always ahead of the United States in tech., their internet speeds are like a 100 times faster than ours. I don't know if that's all on the consumer or the companies holding back this technology here in the States. I've only read a little bit about it so I can't say for sure.

Its Both. Just look at bgol and the whinny over paying for 4k blu rays.

Like I said before, it's already out, just expensive as hell. I ain't paying $3500 for a 32-inch 8k monitor, but it seems just like yesterday I was saying the same about 4k. Just waited until. Plus the 1080ti was pushing only 10 fps for Assassins Creed Origins at 8k. I wonder if 8k will be the death of consoles. They just ain't keeping up and it's getting worse.

I agree with the hobby thing. Two people can spend $1,000 on their respective hobbies, but they both will probably call the other person's hobby a waste of money. Life is funny like that.

I know its out i was speaking on the tv side of things.

A friend that told me that about my property taxes and neighborhood. He stayed and tried to build up his neighborhood. So far 4 murders this past month and 6 random shots last night. He sadly has his kids sleeping on the floor in order to avoid the stray shots.

Peace and quiet is priceless.

Wait where did you see that price?

Make sure it’s the P series with Dolby vision, that’s the big difference. It should be around $600
