Destructoid reviews aren't worth shit. Those are the same idiots who gave Batman: Arkham Origins a 3/10.

I’ve seen a few questions about how the Party System will work on Xbox One. I had Steve Dolan, whose team works on the Party System (and more), write up the below guest blog post about how parties work and how they are better on Xbox One.

Hi, my name is Steve Dolan and I’m the program manager responsible for the multiplayer and achievements experience on Xbox One. Like most of you, I’m stoked about the new wave of online titles coming in the next year. Here is how we’re going to make it easy to party up and play these great games on Xbox One.

Always a Party

When playing online games on Xbox One you’re part of an Xbox Live party. When you go to your friends list you’ll see your party right there at the front that shows the game your party is playing. You’ll also see all your friends’ parties, making it quick and easy to see who is playing online and who to join. Of course, just like Xbox 360, you’ll be able to set if your party is joinable or if it’s invite only.

Joining a Game

If you see the perfect match and the party is open, you can simply join if there is room for more players in the match, and the game thinks you’re a good fit using Smart Match (in terms of skill , playing style, etc.) you’ll be offered a slot automatically. If the game is full, you can check out other games, TV and apps while you wait for the game to open up – go work on your “Killer Instinct” moves, watch your friends’ Upload videos or check out your favorite Twitch personality while you wait for a slot to free up. When more players can be added, you’ll receive a notification and have a limited amount of time to accept. Just say “Xbox, join” or use your controller to accept the match.

Parties, Smart Match and the Party Scout

Two of my favorite features are parties and Smart Match. Now, when you combine these features together you get a new super power we call Party Scout. Imagine you’re watching Netflix and your friend sends you a party invite. You accept and start chatting about what you want to play. Your friend tells you about a new “Forza Motorsport 5” challenge that involves playing online matches. You both decide that sounds like fun and that s/he will set up the online party. They launch “Forza Motorsport 5,” find the right playlist for the challenge and kick off matchmaking. You can keep rolling in Netflix while matchmaking runs, additional players are found and all the networking tests are performed. Only when your match is ready will you get the “match found” notification. You can then accept the match and launch right into your online game.

Snap Your Party

Of course, we want to make it simple and easy to manage your party, invite more people and see who is in party chat all without having your game go off-screen. Sounds like a perfect time to use the Snap app. When you want to, the Party app can be snapped along the right side of the screen while you play or, if you want your full screen, you can dismiss it and have it run in the background.

Time to Party Up

There you have it. On Xbox One, online gameplay is always a party, anyone can set up as a Party Scout and when your match is ready you’ll be notified so you can easily jump into a game. If you want to join your friends in a game, you can join their party.

I’ve been working at Xbox in one way or another since 2002. As always, I’m humbled by all the dedicated, talented and frankly amazing people that create the hardware and games for you, the fans. Even more so, I’m floored by your passion and drive to push us to deliver delightful experiences.
Thanks and see you on Xbox Live!

One of the most exciting features coming to Xbox One is the ability to record your most exciting, impressive, or just plain awesome-looking gaming accomplishments so that you can relive them over and over.

But how do you share those memorable gameplay moments in front of everyone else’s eyeballs? The answer is SkyDrive. Save and edit your clips, then upload to the cloud via SkyDrive on Xbox One.

The best part is, once these clips are in the cloud, you can share them however you like, without any restrictions or limitations.

For more on Game DVR, Upload Studio, and sharing from SkyDrive, head on over to Xbox Wire.

Xbox one will have its issues like all consoles that come out have, I'm sure it will not be at the rate the 360 was. Damn near everyone I know got the red ring of death. I still have my original PS3, it never went bad but I did hear of some that did. Hell I went through about 5 PS2's, that dreaded disc error messgage....:smh::lol: By reading certain peoples comments you can tell what system they like, me personally I am getting both so it don't matter to me when people saying this system is better than that system, at the end of the day I will have both anyway.:yes:

And the Ryse reviews are coming in mixed. A 60 on Metacritic based off of 26 reviews.

Im gonna pass on Ryse. Sessler's review was brutal :smh::lol:

When reviews are released closer to the consoles release date, it's not a good sign for the game. Ryse could end up being a 7.0 .7.5 game. I could be dead wrong. Maybe mixed reviews. :dunno:

Heads Up: Our Xbox One Review Will Run On Tuesday Night

It's PS4 day, but what about the Xbox One? Don't worry. We'll be getting to it. We'll have a review of Microsoft's console live on Kotaku at 9pm PT on Tuesday, November 19 (that's midnight on Tuesday for those of us on the east coast). The system launches on Friday, the 22nd.

Sony allowed us to review their console and launch games all at the same time. Microsoft is doing things a little differently, staggering review embargoes throughout next week. Look for Dead Rising 3 and Crimson Dragon reviews as soon as Monday and Ryse on Thursday.

You might also be interested today in impressions of the PS4 and Xbox One that critic Chris Suellentrop and I wrote for today's New York Times about the consoles and some of their games.

Not only can you expect a lot more coverage of the Xbox One as we get closer to its release, but once both consoles are out, we'll be running comparisons for those of you who are trying to decide if one is better for you than the other.

"I'm not sure if seven years of development ensures we'll get a sequel to Ryse to make the effort worth it or if it guarantees that the developers will never try this again. I'd be fine either way. Ryse's setting, graphics and novel combat system could serve as the blueprint for a more spectacular and more complicated game. Or Ryse could stand on its own as what it is: an interesting, weirdly violent yet somehow also attractive detour.

I'd like to think that Ryse is an example of the kind of fresh re-thinking we'll experience on the new generation of consoles. Why not move the camera in? Why not set the game in ancient Rome? Why not let players yell at archers to lob in some support? Actually, no, never do that last one again. Ryse arrives with low expectations and demonstrates that looks can make a difference in gameplay. That's a next-gen upgrade I can enjoy."

Seems like the general consensus is to just wait before getting either system unless of course you're a hard core gamer. I'm going to chill and let them work out all of the kinks before getting either system.

You are saying this as most the kinks will be hardware related. I believe that these companies learn from their mistakes and the majority of the "kinks" with the Xbox one will be software related and can be fixed via over the air update, but hey maybe I am just being hopeful cause my shit will be here TOMORROW NIGGA!

Amazon gets into the Black Friday mood a little earlier this year, with offers starting Sunday, November 24 and running through to the violently bustling climax on November 29. The online retailer will as ever have plenty of quick-fire deals on games and consoles, but it's already noted a few eye-catchers on the way.

Software-wise, Amazon has Grand Theft Auto 5 and Batman: Arkham Origins pinned for a $34 sale, and the just-released Call of Duty: Ghosts to go at $40. Other recent blockbusters like FIFA 14, Madden 25, and Battlefield 4 are set to come down to $25, and there'll be a buy-2-get-1-free offer on Skylanders: Swap Force characters too.

As for the consoles, Amazon is going with the 250 GB PS3 bundle that's doing the rounds at several other retails, including The Last of Us and Batman: Arkham Origins for a $200 total. On the Xbox 360 side, there's a 250GB bundle featuring Halo 4 and Tomb Raider for $190, but Best Buy tops that by chucking in Darksiders 2 and Batman: Arkham City in too.

If you can't wait that long to make your wallet lighter, you strange person, then Amazon's Black Friday Countdown has a few decent offers too. Among the standouts are a couple of 2012's big hits in both Borderlands for $12.
