X-Men: Apocalypse' Review: It's A Franchise-Killing Disaster

Haven't watched Apocalypse yet, but I didn't hate Last Stand. It was the weakest of the first three, but that's on Singer for leaving a mess for Ratner. X-MEN Last Stand wasn't great, but it's not the worst X-Film.

The Wolverine joints sucked though.
I'm inclined to agree. Last Stand was a travesty in the way that it wasted Phoenix, but overall I didnt hate it nearly as much as the Wolverine movies. Both of those were complete garbage and I can only imagine how they will fuck up the 3rd.

Missed opportunity to make Angle BLUE!! But I guess they filled their blue mutant quota this movie. The cartoons had writing that was ahead of it's time. Wolverine and the X-Men that was on nick was actually a great cartoon, much better than X Men evolution imo. They completely fucked up Bishops character who was actually the main character of the DOFP arc in the books*.

*Edit: in the cartoon, Kitty Pride was the main character in the comic

The reason Angel wasn't blue is because Bryan Singer likes his boys young and pink.

Just thought about this, the way they introduced CAC-a-lips, there will be no connection to Sinister who's the villain for the next movie. It's like lets just have 2 hours of bullshit and kill off the bad guy and a bunch of other characters. Killing Angel was stupid cause he's the one that rebels against CAC-Fraudulous in the first place. They could have set this up so much better, and had a rich story line for years to come, but they cast the wrong dude, executed it poorly, and every single movie from now on will be a 1 off.

Disgusting

If they didn't and can't get Apocalypse right the. They damn show gon' fuck up Mr. Sinister who's just as complex. And both are awesome characters which is da fucked up shit about it. :smh:

I just got out of this shit. There are so much that they fucked up but I wouldn't call it a franchise killing disaster. The fact that the theater I was in was barely half full on opening night might be franchise killing though.
It was still a better movie than BvS, but that's not really saying much.

Yea, like I said before
Yea it was not a good movie, but it wasn't terrible like Xmen3 or the Wolverine movies
Basically the CGI effects are what will save this from being a complete disaster
So therefore you won't really enjoy it much watching a bootleg cam copy
(just go see it at half price matinée) ;)

Ok just saw it. It's ok. Not the best and not the worst. I'm so sick of fucking overused CGI. Shit becomes basically a cartoon at the end. Also.... How does any of this work with the ending of the last xman?

I'll hold off posting spoilers until a true discussion thread opens up.

This takes place after the events in the 70's from DOFP but before the end when Wolverine went back to see the restored future.

Fuck it I'll ask questions.
  • At the end of DoFP Wolverine gets rescued by Striker but then we see that it's really Mystique pretending to be Striker. So how does the real Striker get him and do the weapon X experiment?
  • And is Magento just a Earth bender? I wonder if he can bend lava too.
  • How in the actual fuck is Olivia Munn considered to be one of the strongest mutants? Storm probably, Magento definitely, Angel maybe, Psylocke . She has a glowing light saber arm that she didn't even use as a primary weapon.
