Wyclef Jean for President!

If arnold can be a governor then fuck it wyclef can be a president
:smh:

That's like saying "If Whitey can have a convicted felon drive his car, I can have one guarding my family."

Just because whitey does it doesn't make it good enough for black people to follow.

He represents the young youth.

And the state of our media is such that we have a celebrity rebuttal to a celebrity candidate.

none of yawl know dude, his thought process or intellect. sheit, if a mutha fuka like w. bush or regan become the president of the USA -- with regan being a dayum actor and bush being a major league ball team owner prior to politics, no reason why wyclef can't be a big success in haiti

Look at where America was when Bush took over. Now imagine what a Bush-level fuck up would do to Haiti!!!

Stop with this default argument that "If it's good enough for America, it's good enough for Haiti" to justify replicating the worst of American government there.

How's this for an idea-- Considering how desperate the situation in Haiti is, how about a leader who has evidenced a thought process or intellect?

From his songs (words) and his actions for Haiti. What more should we look at?

Man, everybody's a fucking philanthropist if you let music tell it.

For those who are against Wyclef as President of Haiti, which candidate do you support, and why? Are you for anyone or just against Wyclef?

I'm just against Wyclef.

He's the only candidate I know of and I'm sure there is someone better. What's wrong with that?

You weren't ready to vote for just about anyone but Bush in 2004 and 2008?

:smh: @ the rampant hypocrisy from cats trashing this move as an indictment of Haitian people while they sit in a country that elected Arnold fucking Schwarzeneger as governor of one its biggest states. Wont even get on Reagan...

That's how those CAC Republicans roll. They don't stand for anything, they are just against Obama.

He can't fuck up the country more than it's already fucked up. People were eating dirt cakes literally and that was before the earthquake. But we're talking about a man that's lived in the US for over half his life in the US. His knowledge of the political workings of Haiti are going to be limited at best.

I just hope he gets some big brains behind him, if not he will be over his head.

The Reagan/Bush comparisons are really not on the mark in this conversation. Neither the states that they were govenors of, nor the nation, when they took office as president were in the shape that Haiti is in. That does not mean that Clef, if he wins, can't do a great job and put the place on a path to recovering from it's ills... but suffice it to say, there is a lot more working against Haiti than anything Reagan or Bush ever took executive authority over. California, Texas, or the U.S. ,in recession/depression, or post 9/11 war mode all still had/has a much more organized and well prepared infrastructure and workable government than Haiti.

I truly hope though that if he wins, he will surprise the hell out of doubters such as myself and do a great job.

A friend of mine from there told me something today though... she said that she's all for him and hopes that he wins, because firstly, nobody has done a good job there...all corrupt, so whether or not he has any experience, and whether or not his charity is at all shady, basically, he can't do worse than what they've already had, and she thinks that the country needs a leader from the diaspora rather than totally homegrown.

career politicans haven't been doing a great job there
he may just be the answer to some of haiti's problems

In what way??? He can't even speak the language.

are you a fucking RETARD
or you just type any bullshit that come up in your mind

Hip-hop superstar Wyclef Jean has flown out of Haiti barely 24 hours after announcing his bid for the Haitian presidency.

"I am leaving because of family obligations, but I will return in several weeks to enter the electoral campaign," the New York-based singer, speaking in Creole, told reporters at Port-au-Prince airport on Friday.

His Creole is raggedy and he can't speak FRENCH (the government's language!!) worth a damn. The "retard" is anyone who supports this fool. :smh:

One difference is that Jean isn't capable of explaining his plans in French, the language of Haiti's government, because he doesn't speak it. His brother describes Jean's Creole as "rusty." It's spoken with a thick American accent.

Jean doesn't speak the languages fluently because he hasn't lived in Haiti recently. He's hoping authorities will waive the Haitian constitution's requirement that candidates live in-country for the five years preceding the ballot.
