Good for him, he has realized his dreams growing up as a kid in a foreign land stilll yearning to return home back to his people and inspire them to do better. Hopefully he has a strong and like minded people who share his values and principles.

The responsibility of running a nation is overwhelming but I too hope I can return home with my knowledge and resources from afar and lead my countrymen.

What has this WORLD come to. I swear I'm in the matrix FOR REAL.

I can only hope that he does something empowering as an Official.

as a Haitian american I don't know how to feel...hopefully he tries to fix things over there....

No but he can buy a hundred more Ferraris with that aid money
lol its funny i saw ont he news the other day that about a billions dollars have been raised to help haiti and less than 5% have been actually used, especially the charity bush and clinton were pushing, if you read the fine print the money they collected can be used how ever they want.

LETS JUST HOPE IF HE GETS ELECTED PRES. OF HAITI, HIS PREDICTION OF GETTING ELECTED ON FRIDAY, ASSASSINATED ON SATURDAY, AND BURIED ON SUNDAY DOESN'T COME TRUE...:smh:

bad comparison.

Mugabe is against THE WEST.

Wyclef would be THE WEST's imperial fluffer.

Remember Jean-Bertrand Aristide a populist Roman Catholic (Salesian) priest, won 67% of the vote in elections that international observers deemed largely free and fair.

Aristide's radical populist policies alarmed many of the country's elite, and, in September 1991, he was overthrown in a violent coup that brought General Raoul Cédras to power. There was violent resistance to the coup, in which hundreds were killed, and Aristide was forced into exile. An estimated 3,000-5,000 Haitians were killed during the period of military rule. The coup created a large-scale exodus of refugees to the United States. The United States Coast Guard interdicted (in many cases, rescued) a total of 41,342 Haitians during 1991 and 1992.
----------------------------------------------------
As soon as he starts doing for his people he will be DEMONIZED

I wouldn't trust Wyclef with $20. But if the people trust in him and the vote is not tainted I will hope for the best. I think the one good thing would be that he might be better able to keep Haiti in the news and the consciousness of the world.

Yup....Aristide is the REAL PRESIDENT OF HAITI

all i know is A) Clef has dedicated his life to helping Ayiti prior to the earthquakes
B) he's always held us down
C) I dunno what his politics will be like but I bet its gonna be better that the horrors of the past cuz he know if he fucks up his head literally on the chopping block

My initial thought is that I can't bring myself to believe that anyone, much less a musician, can change the fortunes of that country. ....BUT, I do believe he honestly wants to change things for the better, so if he does win, I honestly hope he does well and turns things around.

Politics being politics though... third world being third world... I wonder if he has any idea of the shit storm he would be walking into by taking that office.

Why cant he just a back a real politician?

To all the people saying it cant get any worse; yes it can, and it will if they elect a 35 year old musician to be the president.

A real politician? what makes a so called real politician more qualified than anyone to to be president? They aren't any different from you or me, and dont say they have more experience because thats all bullshit.

As others have said only time will tell.

But this is a brother who couldn't properly run his non profit and I'm supposed to believe that he will be able to run a whole country and get out of third world status?!

Well, like I said only time will tell.

Why wouldnt experience be a good thing? You dont go to a doctor who does not have any experience, why would you allow your country to be ran by one?

Shit could maybe work if he went into law or something, but dude is a young(er) musician. It isnt a good idea at all in my opinion.

He needs radical thinking with sane implimentation. Like someone stated earlier Aristide was the first attempted direction change for Haiti and the elites put a stop to that quick. Aristide radical speech in favor of the poor put them on the defense. Believe they have a stake in keeping Haiti as it is. He should start by fixing the agricultural situation. Fixing the soil and educating those farmers. Take a page out of Castro book and make the island self sustainable as far as food goes.
