Good interview. Talks about his experience after getting infected:
-It's not like the flu. Two months later and he still isn't 100%. Even after the virus is gone, your immune system can go crazy and you'll get sick for a while. The virus can damage the lungs, but also the heart and kidneys.
on the potential vaccines:
- We're going to need billions, not millions of doses. We currently don't have the capacity for that.
- One potential vaccine showed promising results, but was on a small group of only 8 people
- The other one was tested in monkeys, also showed promise but the monkeys were still contagious
- We need a vaccine that's proven safe, which can take a while
- We need a vaccine that's effective everyone, vaccines tend to be less effective for older people
- We need to make sure that everyone can get it, not just the countries producing it
