Confirmed cases of COVID19 have practically plateaued, especially since NYC has declined significantly. Why is this the case?

The number of confirmed deaths is on a steady decline with and without New York in the data.

Good question. Multiple strains? Weaker strains aren't getting people sick enough to seek out testing/care and are self-resolving, especially in asymptomatic folks. :dunno:

We knew all the variables when they opened.

I still thought it would lead to disaster and so did many others. It didn't turn out that way. If June don't turn out bad, we ain't going to be able to tell people shit. :smh:
You would think Trump and his crazy supporters would want to stay ahead of the virus and take advantage of the low transmission rate during the summer. But opening everything up may cause a surge in the summer :smh:

It’s possible the overall impact of the virus itself is mutating to weaker stages?

When something plateau, there is always at least one reason. If many of these states are doubling their testing (as they say), then why are we seeing an increase of numbers? It’s been over a month now and we haven’t seen any dramatic increase or decrease in cases over extended periods.

It is weird, obviously in a good way. If the virus is mutating into something weaker, you would expect more of the population to have antibodies present, but I don't think that has been the case.

You wasn’t going to be able to tell Americans anything about anything. That’s the wonderful thing about you guys. You mothafuckas play Helen Keller one second then Albert Einsteins when shit hit the fan. And it always splatters for you guys.

World Health Organization warns of 'second peak' in areas where COVID-19 declining

GENEVA — Countries where coronavirus infections are declining could still face an "immediate second peak" if they let up too soon on measures to halt the outbreak, the World Health Organization said on Monday.
The world is still in the middle of the first wave of the coronavirus outbreak, WHO emergencies head Dr. Mike Ryan told an online briefing, noting that while cases are declining in many countries they are still increasing in Central and South America, South Asia and Africa.

Ryan said epidemics often come in waves, which means that outbreaks could come back later this year in places where the first wave has subsided. There was also a chance that infection rates could rise again more quickly if measures to halt the first wave were lifted too soon.
"When we speak about a second wave classically what we often mean is there will be a first wave of the disease by itself, and then it recurs months later. And that may be a reality for many countries in a number of months' time," Ryan said.
"But we need also to be cognizant of the fact that the disease can jump up at any time. We cannot make assumptions that just because the disease is on the way down now it is going to keep going down and we get a number of months to get ready for a second wave. We may get a second peak in this wave."

He said countries in Europe and North America should "continue to put in place the public health and social measures, the surveillance measures, the testing measures and a comprehensive strategy to ensure that we continue on a downwards trajectory and we don't have an immediate second peak."

Many European countries and U.S. states have taken steps in recent weeks to lift lockdown measures that curbed the spread of the disease but caused severe harm to economies.

The more time passes, It seems like Trump would have never shutdown. Looks like He shelved the pandemic response team so that he could go rogue. No one who cares about the virus would tweet this
