Does this let you use all your windows programs? Is that possible in Ubuntu?
ubuntu is a linux os so your windows programs wont be compatible, but you should be able to find similar compatible programs to replace them, it's also a good OS for people who dont have a powerful system and it doesnt need a antivirusCan someone explain Ubuntu to mea a little?
Is it a totally new OS that will make me have to re-install all my programs or is it some sort of alternative that I can run at the same time as XP?
What are the benefits?
if you want to try u can download and boot ubuntu off a cd and experience the Operating system without even installingI'm gonna try it fellas... pray for me.

Linux sucks for one reason, the way you have to install, download programs is just bad. Maybe it's because I'm used to Windows and how easy it is but finding th app manager and all that crap is just bad.
Quick question. Is anyone else getting an "permission denied" warning whenever they try to install this on their Windows Vista system? If so, how do you get around that. I've already checked the propertied of ubuntu installer granted myself complete access to file. I always unchecked the UAC for different user access, but still get the same problem. Any help would be very appreciated.
Quick question for you, what are you trying to install? The Wubi loader by itself?
-VG
Yes, the Wubi loader itself. It gets to about the last 15 minutes then a big permission denied message comes up.
The programs aren't so bad. They just need to update the damn GUIs. Nobody wants to work with software that looks like it was developed for Win 95. Also if they can figure out how to smoothly run Windows programs in Linux that would be great. That Wine shit is clunky as fuck. And the only other thing Ubuntu need to work on is Graphic card support. My 512MB PCIe nVidia runs like shit on Linux and a champ in Windows.
