they even bought all the nasty bread that never sells nigga......lol. a few packs of tortillas were on the shelf.
i went to a Kroger, and they had plenty of meats.....no fresh seafood tho. no lunch meat at all, quite a few packs of hotdogs were available, but no hotdog buns or hamburger buns. spaghetti and spaghetti sauce were gone. the tuna fish was wiped out as well as ramen noodles.
there was plenty of the name brand water, however it was limited as to how many packs you could buy. luckily i always buy water, so i have like 5 of the 24packs in the garage. microwave dinners were gone. and for some reason they had the ice cream taped off to keep you from getting any. but what if i want some ice cream? Coffee was almost gone, as well as saltine crackers. Batteries were in short supply as well. the stores looked looted. luckily, there was no price gouging...everything was still priced the same.

The crazy thing is that your local hispanic, asian, Indian or "Arab" grocery store is going to have mad shit available. I learned that when the Whole Foods and Brooklyn Fare looked looted but the asian and hispanic grocery were stocked the fuck up. :lol:Also those tortillas last forever. The corn ones can last months in the fridge.

Every day I grow to despise conservatives. I'm getting tired of liberals too, but conservatives are on the fast track to being vehemently hated. I wouldn't let anyone know I was that goddamn stupid to think wind and solar can't work in the cold, but they proudly repeat lies with their chests out. I don't know why people say they aren't proud Americans, because they are the greatest example of what America truly is...a bunch of dumb mother fuckers that are unapologetically proud to be happy to showcase their stupidity.

people, well society in general, is/are just lazy. people would rather just repeat what they hear instead of doing research. For example, sound carries further in cold, hence why sound carries so far in the ocean. (also why a lion's roar carries so far at night). why would solar power not work in the cold? The sun's rays , and all that comes with it, travel through outer space to get to us. I hate stupidity too.

Finally from an elected official.

Wow they actually starting to cop pleas :smh: I don’t know how much fallout this is going to cost Republicans in the state of Texas but they are going to get some fallout. He is right they told them this was going to happen 10 years ago and they did nothing and their fossil fuel system is the system that field on them. North South Dakota Nebraska those mid western states didn’t have any problems. Also one more thing most of Texas modern housing is built like shit that’s why is it so damn cheap.

ok, turns out the stores here in SA were also without power, causing them to throw away most of the perishable food. So it wasn't just customers buying up everything.

Thats why I always get a fixed rate. Giddy was advertising 2 to 5 cents a kilowatt but the risk is always there to jump up during surges. They had local news stories from last summer of folks getting a 150 bill for day during the peak summer monthd, folks should have learned from that.
My part of town isn't deregulated. Has its advantages and disadvantages. Glad I don't have to deal with rate changes like that.

I just do the 1 year contract and shop around on power to choose and look at the rates. I haven't had to switch in a while due to direct energy charging me the lowest delivery fee with a decent fixed rate.

I used to do shelter resource work back in the early-2000s on the Downtown Eastside. One of the moments that always stuck with me was the manager asking us to locate one of the recent clients. It was December of that year ... snowstorm ... snow & slush everywhere. We happened across her sleeping in the doorway of a church, and someone had come along that night and stolen the shoes and socks off her feet as she slept. She was at her wit's end. Just had the clothes on her back and was battling addiction and mental health issues. Got her back to the shelter & retrieved donated shoes and socks, and a change of clothes.

One of the best memories was taking a senior citizen to one of her medical appts. We went on foot and on the way back she asked me if I wanted to stop for lunch. I said sure - she suggested the Union Gospel Mission. Turns out one of our oncall staff members helped lead a lunchtime prayer and meal there. I'd say about 50 - 75 people or more ... good environment - soup, sandwich, coffee & muffin. I stayed and helped with clean-up afterward. Always wished more people would attend ... especially with the shitty weather & lack of sustenance available in the streets. So shoutout to the UG Mission, for real.

Shoutout also to the cold / wet weather shelter resources on the North Shore. Worked there & always appreciated the connections they had in the community. Say they had 30 - 50 people staying there on a nightly basis ... 7-11 would drop off lots of their sandwiches & snacks that were ready to go on clearance. One of the local bakeries routinely dropped off countless loaves of bread for sandwiches. Sometimes a few dozen loaves at a time. Plus, London Drugs had a policy wherein any damaged packaging items (UNopened) was to be discarded. Same for items that were attempted to be shoplifted. So they would drop off food items, as well as flats of drinks like Snapple, etc.

Shoutout to them during the stormy months of fall and winter!

Helping people get back on their feet & stay safe.
