Personally working from home since March of 2020, has opened my eyes to how going into the office everyday has been a gruesome task if you have a position that can be done from home.

Wear and tear on your car, crowded roads, or public transportation hassles. Who wants to return to the typical rat race of a white collar 9 to 5?

I saved so much money which allowed me to invest a tidy sum into various index funds monthly.

I also think working from home allowed folks to get creative in coming up with side hustles that bring in extra cash.

I don’t miss the 45 minute commute to and from and dread having to restart it in a few weeks. I’ve easily saved $3k in gas and another $1k in tires. I’m exploring my options; I’ve arguably been MORE productive working from the crib than being in the office and being distracted, office chatter all that. Also, I’ve printed MAYBE 10 sheets of paper in over a year; at the office I was printing shit off GP, only for it to sit after it was read or recycled.

i absolutely love working from home.
saving me $400 a month in gas.....$300/month in tolls
$20 a day buying breakfast, lunch, and snacks at work.

thats quite a bit i can save by being at home. i dont get easily distracted and can actually get more work done.
and it allows me to work more than one job at the same time.

actually lower. because my wife been working from home for years. but she would run the central air all damn day long.
even if she wasnt at home and noone was here,....she'd just leave stuff running.....tv on....etc.
i cut all that shit out......lol. so our light bill has been actually lower,....cut in half. water bill is around the same.
my son works 40 hours a week now.....so he's not in his room playing the playstation all damn day. before he worked, he would be on that shit from like 10am til 3am the next day. only coming downstairs to get something to eat, then right back in his room.
so over all, we use a lot less utilities while working from home.

The pandemic has rearrange the economy in a good way for a lot of people this is why Low wage jobs are struggling right now. This pandemic is making capitalism work for the working poor for a change.

I went from 4 figures in savings to 5 working from home. When you're able to put away close to $500 every month it adds up quick. I have no desire to spend any of it either...just let it keep growing for a while. In the event I lose a job or just decide to make a change or even upgrade my condo a bit I will have a nice reserve.

Never going back into the office. My work involves using consoles and browsers all day. I have VZ Fios which handles all my comms needs. Only thing that has increased slightly is power, especially during the summer. I don't need to fill the gas tank as often as I used to.

Covid freed us and I'm glad it's leading to a worker's revolt. It's high time people demand better but they are too comfortable.

When the schools shut down it was a whole situation. I never imagined how many snacks kids eat per day or how much toilet paper they use.

Fuck that.
Like everybody else, 30-45 minute commutes, $100 month parking, buying coffee and lunch every day for $30-40. Then coming home too tired to cook so buying dinner and junk food almost every day...

I've never had this much in the bank, and I'm getting more done in (realistically) 4-6 hours working at home than 7-8 hours in the office.

I wouldn't go back for a 20% increase.

That chick in the article said it perfectly, it really is a Boomer Power Play... and has nothing to do with productivity.

Some of these old fonky, lifers literally wouldn't have a job to do, or "skill", if there weren't co-workers to keep an eye on and delegate shit to. Plus, work is the only human interaction a lot of folks get.

Fuck them tho.

One of the places I used to work for said they may work from home indefinitely. They were renting office space to the tune of 10k a month so somebody just lost a 120k a year contract. My other former employer is redoing the office completely and aren't scheduled to return to the office until 2022 and even then will encourage the majority of the staff to work from home. My current position I work from home and usually only get out of bed to eat and go to the bathroom

Also, you have no idea how much WFH lessens the chances of being in a collision. If you haven't already, you really should calculate how many miles per month you actually drive now and relay that information to your auto insurance provider.

It can greatly affect your rate at renewal.

Example: most companies estimate you at 12 to 15k miles a year. I did my quote at 4500 and was very pleased with my rate.

Been working from home since 2008. It was supposed to be temporary, like a few months tops while my department was being sold to another company....but after that sale and another one of those n 2013, our corporate owners decided that they didn't want to pay NJ rent for a few people (my team is based mostly in Tampa) and the current company has a pretty large work from home or flex office/home footprint. After this long, it will be hard going back to an office whenever this gig ends. When I went down to Florida for a week to meet up with my group a couple years back, it was weird as fuck sitting in a cubicle and having people coming by my desk all day.....and not having my own bathroom and fridge.....

Honestly, they get more out of me this way. I regularly hop on the VPN and take care of shit at night, and on weekends cause my desk is four feet from my bed, and when my workday officially ends, there is no commute so I don't jump up from my desk to beat traffic or catch the train...

They want us to come in one day a week starting the week of July 6th. They say they're bringing us in just in case we need to look over one another shoulder

Bitch, we haven't needed to look over each other shoulder and 16 God damn months

I plan on calling off one day a week. I currently have 203 hours of annual leave. I'm not going to be sitting behind, next to, or in front of an anti masker

BRUH!! I have been working from home for about 4 years and it would be hard to go back into an office again!!! The drama in office is ridiculous! At home in my fuckin' shorts and tshirt is lovely!

Fuck all that drama and nonsense from working around a bunch of bitches, male and female.

That being said, for the right opportunity, I'll deal w/ the bullshit and go back in office, but it will have to be a hell of an opportunity.
