Women, why do you wear a weave?

Oh well excuse the hell out of me for having an opinion and questions. How dare I.

And yes, I got answers, I was curious. Not exactly about to run up to a woman and ask why she has fake hair on her head.

The problem is not your questions, it is your refusal to accept the answers you are getting.

You can't argue about things you don't know so try listening.

Btw, I don't wear weaves but I have always considered it an option for special occasions.

Good Lord, you're a baby. No wonder you don't know what "bougie" means. :hmm:

I think you're a bit young to be making so many generalizations about women who wear weaves and you don't know much about life yet.

At 19 I definitely knew what bourgie meant. I'm going with the fact that he's half white to explain why he doesn't know what the word means.

I wear weaves when I want a different look that can't be accomplished wit my real hair. I have nice shoulder length hair that is pretty healthy but sometimes i might want hair down my back for an occasion. Plus weaves to me are a lil easier to manage when your in a rush (ESPECIALLY THE STRAIGHT ONES) :)

hmmm

some of the men on this board are VERY judgmental...i mean damn

what is sooooo disgusting about weave (this is for the poster above me)

all I can say is when I had my weave phase it was mostly for fun and convenience. was very fun to have all these different kinds and colors of hair that look the same way every day for a month and get sewed on in an hour. yeah i got sick and disgusted of it but it was still fun.

the fact that it isn't real and that i know it's not real is what's disgusting. chicks looking like a whole different person when they're in their natural state than how they look when they're outside the house is disgusting. there are plenty of women who don't produce this phenomenon. alot of women who wear fake hair and makeup don't even need that shit, but are bascially social robots.

bruh...i understand that you feel strongly about fake hair...that is beyond eveident but the whole passing judgement on someone so harshly off the strength that they have worn a weave is a bit much

i mean who broke ur heart? it seems like u experienced something out of a the movie I'm Gonna Get You Sucka and now ur mad at the world.

wearin weave doesn't make u pathetic....being defined by an accessory does and i don't think any woman in this thread has said that.

this thread and the thread about what you hate about women really is bringing out the homo in some of the dudes. By some of the comments some of you dudes seem like DL Fags.

when i said the shit was disgusting, how was i passing judgement? my feelings are not toward the women who have worn weave, it's about the weave itself. if it makes a woman look drastically different, then i have a problem with it. why does MY OPINION bother you to the point of making ASSumptions about my personal life? if you got bad hair then do what you gotta do ma.

i'm refering to your pathetic and social robots comments

and what is "bad hair"? are you saying that only ppl with bad hair wear weaves?

and u said nothing before about looking drastically different...u were talkin about being un-natural period

shit...when some dudes get a hair cut they look drastically different so i don't see what's the main issue

but i guess we will just have to a agree to disagree

i know you didn't just compare a haircut to weave.

and my social robot comment was true, i know how women handle harsh realities though so i understand your reaction.

Glasses & contacts are not real eyes. Do you think girls who wear glasses are disgusting? Give me a break with the self-righteousness. Nobody needs to wear makeup or weaves. If she keeps the weave tight and keeps it clean, what is the big deal? Yall men kill me with this childish mentality that you can dictate how women are supposed to appear

just give up follow the homo's have spoken. They are basically searching for bald fat men with breast like a woman and they can wear any color lipstick and nail polish except red. :smh::smh::smh:

I dont need weave either, but im not doing it becuase its a trend or the in thing. It gives my hair a break when I dont want to put any heat or stress on it. You dont like females with weave fine, many men do. And with or without weave in my head I look the same.

So why dont men grow their hair out instead of cutting it,are you going to tell me its not natural.Man please.
:hmm:

i have nothing against weaves. everybody has them...white women, black women, hispanic women. some women, like my mother, where it because they have balding issues. some women consider hair an art form, purely asthetic. some women just like to change it up. are some weaves uncalled for? yes. i had a few tracks in my hair recently. i was losing a lot of my hair in the back. it felt like pac man did a number on the back of my head. the tracks were nice. it gave me the fullness i once had. nothing tacky...just 1B yaky. there is only one thing that bothers me... when women do not claim their weave. stop acting like it grew from your scalp! nothing wrong with owning up. a lot of women wear weaves nowadays. shouldn't have any shame about it, i knew i didin't. but weave or no weave, the beautiful thing about hair, particularly black hair, is that it's so dynamic! so much you can do.

Calm down baby boy. Don't go hurtin urself

Pretty much, that's why I'm asking. I mean, why not work with whatever hair you have? Unless you're bald or something.

For anyone to say a woman is lazy, and/or feels inadequate about herself, just because she wears weave is wrong.:smh: Its all about self-esteem and making sure you feel good.

What is the big deal?

Men should want women to feel good about themselves, and if that means they have to add length, thickness, curls, etc. so be it!

FELLAS, YOU REALLY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO PICK YOUR BATTLES.

Let’s start having discussions about more substantial issues, like eating disorders or obsession to plastic surgery within the female population. Not weave!

Yes!!!!!! I agree with this statement 100%.

Interestingly enough, I was watching a news broad cast from Rwanda, all the women I saw, hair was straight as an Indians.

Or looked like they just stepped out the shop.

Some White girls rock a weave too ... it's not only Black girls:smh:I don't wear a weave and I never have but I don't care if another girl does

Weaves aren't really my "cup of tea", but I think I'd prefer them more if the majority of them weren't so over the top. I feel like some girls want people to know that this isn't their hair.

Its BGOL, an online forum. Y cant they talk about wat the hell they want to talk about. Who are u to tell folks wat is a substantial issue, which is gonna b subjective to each individual. To him a substantial issue to him could be the fact that women allow their hair to eat out(fall out) and weaken in order to follow fads and fashion. To him it could be the lvl of fakeness that is promoted in todays society including both hair and body.

And wats the ratio of black women wearing weave to white women huh?

um i think that analogy doesn't exactly fit with this discussion. glasses and contacts improve the performance of your eyesight under medical reasons.

for the record i never could stand weaves that's like wearing a mask, but i understand it's a necessary evil for some women.

More than you'd think :dunno: Some famous ones are Mariah Carey, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Sarah Jessica Parker, most of the movie stars and singers... And if you wanna see plenty of non-celeb white women with weave, go to Dallas or Miami.

I still say if it looks nice & classy what's the big deal. Hair is an accessory, not a measure of self-esteem. And you can still pull on weave ;)

exactly alot of celebs and a few wanna be's... u didn't count other regions outside of america either

its like 80/20 in my opinion.

everywhere u go u are 90% sure to see a black woman in weeve in comparison to a white woman...and its overbearing as fuck!

N this goes for places i have been outside of the US.

Black women...wats wrong with ur own hair?

:hmm:

Nothing's wrong with our own hair. And nothing's wrong with weave either. Like I said 20 times before. Weave is an accessory. It is put in and taken out. But I guess you don't wear earrings, bracelets, or have more than one pair of shoes either. Why does it even matter if black, white or whatever women wear weave more?

Maybe it's just me, but you contradicted yourself in your first statement. If it's all about low self-esteem, then you do feel inadequate. And to dismiss this topic is wrong, low self-esteem negatively impacts our community more than any other...

It goes deeper then just "weave" for some of us....

um i think that analogy doesn't exactly fit with this discussion. glasses and contacts improve the performance of your eyesight under medical reasons.

The particular "style" of eyewear is chosen based on fashion, not necessity. And, I guess women who wear contacts are "tricking" you into believng their vision is naturally perfect. Shame on them.

... but i understand it's a necessary evil for some women.

As is their having to explain and/or justify their personal fashion choices to the likes of you.

:smh:
