D.C. police arrest woman wanted for forcibly twerking on man

Things didn't twerk out the way she thought they would.

D.C. police on Tuesday arrested Ayanna Marie Knight after she was allegedly caught on video with a friend giving a man an unwanted twerkout inside a gas station. The 22-year-old from Las Vegas was charged with third degree sexual abuse for the dirty dance-off.

The two women were wearing skin-tight dresses in the video from Oct. 7, when one begins grinding on him and shaking her butt while he was talking on the phone. A woman in a red dress tries to grab the cash out of his hand and get him off the phone. The two grope him multiple times, grabbing his groin and butt.

The victim was afraid for his life during the humiliating moment, he told reporters.

"I thought they were either transvestites, or women, or men dressed like women," he told FOX 5 DC. He said he was afraid one of their pimps was going to shoot him.

He had to hide in a car wash to call police after breaking away from the two dirty dancers, he said. The man asked not to be identified because he was a school teacher and was already embarrassed by the moment.

"I felt 100 percent violated. I felt really humiliated also, because when someone is just grabbing your body parts without your permission, no matter who it is, that's just a violation completely," the victim told NBC4.

Knight was charged with prostitution in D.C. in September and then again in October, according to court records. In May, she was convicted of prostitution in Las Vegas. Her attorney, Kenneth Auerbach, did not immediately return a call. Police told the Daily News it was unclear if she'd have to register as a sex offender if she's convicted of the latest offense.

D.C. police are still looking for her dance partner-in-crime.

It happened on Oct. 7 at a Shell gas station in the 1700 block of New York Avenue, NE. It was around 4 p.m. when he went to go up to the cash register to pay for his items, and that was when one of the women began twerking on the man and the other repeatedly fondled him, according to authorities.

The Washington D.C. victim of a twerking nightmare has broken his silence about the sexual assault.

Washington Tharpe, 40, a middle school teacher, was ambushed by behinds on Oct. 7, surveillance footage from a D.C. gas station showed.

Tharpe said the incident was much more than just dirty dancing, and told ABC7 that was sexually assaulted

Middle school teacher Washington Tharpe speaks to WJLA about his twerking nightmare from Oct. 7.

"It looks like I just had some girls twerking on me and I just called the police. That is not what happened at all," he said.

The security footage showed two scantily-clad women dancing provocatively at him, groping his private parts and trying to grab his cash. He said the clip didn't show the terrifying chase that ensued after.

As he got in his car to get away, the two women grabbed the door and stopped it from closing, asking him to bring them along for the ride. Tharpe said he really got terrified once he drove into the car wash to hide, and the women followed him inside.

"I thought, 'oh shoot, they're about to kill me,'" Tharpe said.

At first, the 40-year-old teacher was so embarrassed, he didn't want to show his face. Now, he sees himself as an advocate for male victims of sexual assault.

"It is not about me being afraid or not afraid or embarrassed or not embarrassed," he told ABC7. "I am speaking the truth. Maybe it will help someone else in the future."

Tharpe declined to comment to the Daily News, he said through an agent. He has plans to make appearances on the Wendy Williams show to speak out about the terrifying twerk-experience.

One of the twerkers, Ayanna Marie Knight, was arrested on Nov. 10, and charged with sexual abuse in the third degree.

She had been charged with prostitution three times, twice in D.C. and once in Las Vegas. Police are still looking for her dance partner-in-crime.

TWERKING IT OUT: Victim of gas station booty-shake attack forgives dirty dancers, wants charges dropped after 'humiliating' experience — EXCLUSIVE

A Washington D.C. victim of a twerking attack is turning the other cheek.

Washington Tharpe told the Daily News on Thursday he's forgiven two women who contributed to his "humiliating" and "embarrassing" experience at a gas station, and said he instead was actively trying to get prosecutors to drop the charges.

The 40-year-old middle school Spanish teacher, who is the son of a pastor, said his connection to his church led him to change his mind about the two twerking twerps.

"I'm willing to let go of all my pain that I had inside, of the humiliation, and direct it towards the improvement of her life," he said.

Tharpe was sexually assaulted on Oct. 7 after two women started aggressively twerking on him at a D.C. gas station. The two dirty dancers grabbed his privates and violently groped him during the unwanted shakedown.

One of the dancers, Ayanna Marie Knight, was arrested on Nov. 10 and charged with sexual abuse in the third degree. She had been charged with prostitution twice in D.C. and once in Las Vegas. Cops are still searching for the woman's dirty-dance partner-in-crime, but Tharpe doesn't want her arrested anymore.

In fact, he'd rather have the charges dropped completely.

The twerk attack victim told the Daily News he did not want to see the two young women face the legal system, as the two had been punished enough already from the viral clip.

After he heard Knight could face up to 10 years in jail for her sexual abuse charges, and had to be registered as a sex offender if convicted, he began to feel sympathetic for her.

"If she was like 30-years-old or 40, I would have asked to throw the book at her," Tharpe said. "But at 22, she's not grown. I can't see myself sending her to prison for that."

After all his own preaching of forgiveness at church, he said he'd be a hypocrite if he didn't do the same in his own life.

He said he made up his mind after speaking with his pastor Leo Lewis and Pastor Elsie at the Macedonia Miracle Worship Center in Montgomery, Alabama. He had sought out spiritual counseling since his twerking nightmare began in October, he said.

Tharpe said he felt a weight lifted off his shoulders once he made the decision to forgive Knight and the other dancer. Now, he said, he wants to help them.

The D.C. victim said he would love for an opportunity to meet the women and help get their lives together.

He said he wants to help them get out of prostitution and find a job. The forgiving twerk attack victim said he also wants the women to join N Street Village, a community of empowerment and recovery for women, and RAINN, another support group.

In return, he asks that the two women apologize, and become role models for young women.

He's been trying to contact prosecutors to drop the charges, but said they had been avoiding him.

If the case goes to trial, Tharpe said he would not testify against the women.
