Why you shouldn't be caught up in the Dr. Umar madness

An essential human element was stripped from Black people during the process of slavery and Jim Crow.

Self-determination.

A so-called slaves life was increasingly hellish based upon his measure of self determination.

The ongoing lack of self determination keeps us in hellish schools, communities, relationships and in poverty itself because we are waiting for someone to lead us to salvation.

We are a tamed, trained and domesticated kind of people.

As a community.

We look for religious leaders, political leaders, community leaders and popular personalities for salvation.

We don't seek guidance, direction or focus.

We don't seek to master our own prosperity.

Thus we need leaders of Blacks.

Who's the leader of the Hispanic community? Who's the leader of the ass in community?......etc

This is the big lie that folks continue to tell to try and minimize black leadership. The Asian community have leaders and the Latino community have leaders. They have spokesmen and women whom speak on behalf of those communities every time some shit pop off concerning their respective communities. I know here in Houston when you fuck with any community they have a board, a chamber or organization that comes to the defense of that community and those boards, chambers and organization have a head just like our organizations does. Right now YG The rapper is under attack by the Asian community because of a song he made about robbing them and on the news they spoke to whom? An Asian community leader whom spoke on behalf of the community upset about the song. So GTFOH with that show me the leaders in other communities bullshit, all communities have leaders and black community is no different. All black leader are heads of some organization that speaks out on behalf of Black people.

The only reason I know of this idiot is because of bgol. I dont check for him on youtube, nor any other shows where his views are shared.

Im an independent thinker. Ive been through the brain washing of an african centered school. I was able to overcome the toxic lies they told.
I have never seen or heard of an African centered school. What was the name of the one you was in? And how did it do other than what you expected?
The Nation Of Islam is the only organization I have ever known of to have their own schools to escape some of the brainwashing. Malcolm X sent one of his daughters to a United Nations school and I feel they messed her up.

Why do we need a leader?
Their is no body without a head. We have accepted white teachers, preachers, white guides, and we are in white schools and universities to promote white ideas, white values, white reality, etc. Same as the other races. But they feel if blacks do not know who they are and what was really taken from them then fuck them, if white power is ruling the world then other races will have to join for success.
Dr. King had the right message of non violence. But the wrong goal and way of life to be lived. We do not want to be equal devils or successful devils. And we do not want to be carbon copies and live against our true nature. But Dr. King was a head with a body and he began to change up and not criticize leaders like Elijah Muhammad anymore because he saw the reality in what Elijah taught. They cut off the head and that ended the body.

U want a collective effort go clean up a neighborhood park. Yall kill me with these big grand plans. Yall want a Ferrari before u can drive. Another collective effort if u are poor dont have kids. That would elimnate a lot of issues in the community.

you do know rich people who have kids have more complex issues in their community as well right? From your posts you think poor people should be eliminated altogether right....the rich already set up that collective and them mfs still have issues..just look at the incest, rapes, molestation and murders and all the rest of the bullshit that goes on in those rich communities .... but your telling the poor don't have kids

.man get the fuck outta here with that bullshit logic...

Mofo please......leader is a tag the media placed on spokespeople /community representatives, as you mentioned these other ethnicities have. Black folk these days don't want a "leader". Look how some of them slander sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc. I hate that term leader, it makes us sound weak.

It appears that you are caught up in the semantics of the word leader and how it makes us look in the eyes of others. I have no such concern. A soldier and a revolutionary is never concerned with the perception others have of their leaders, spokesman or comrades they are about the business of the people and unafraid to follow until such a time it is required for them to lead. Maybe your dislike of the term leader is due to you never having a leader teacher or guide worthy of such a term. Well I have and have no issues with calling those individuals my leader as they lead me towards whatever goals we set out to accomplish.

Don't waste your time. He is trolling. He's the Stephen A. Smith of bgol. Every now and then he makes a valid point but for the most part he just blames the victims for their problems.

Squeaky clean ppl don't exist.Black people got that image of Jesus burned into their brain that if someone Black that's a public figure isn't 100% square ass walk on water image, then they ain't to be trusted.

Off hand I know Umar likes pussy and he can be a narcissist.Does any of that clash with his message and make it irrelevant?NO.

First of all congrats that you can be lead and is always searching for someone to follow. A leader is the glue that binds the group together. Without the leader the group falls apart. A spokesperson is the bullhorn of the community without him the message is still there and the strength lies in the people. You fear the people not a so called leader. The police shootings this year proved my point. There was no leader or spokesperson at the protest and the people came together, stood strong and presented their message. They didn't wait around for our branded "leaders" sharpton, jesse jackson, etc. They organized as individuals and executed as a group.

Indeed.

Historically, too much Black leadership came from the pulpit - primarily Christian based.

Pulpit leadership is often opposed to secular leadership.

Thus many black folks of faith are opposed to black secular leadership.

Ella Baker was against the messianic model of leadership in the black community because she had the foresight to see that when the leaders were killed the movement would be killed right along with it.....and that happened too.

No Black organization from The UNIA, to the NOI, Black Panthers, SNNC etc. has fallen apart because it lost it leader. Every black organization that has fallen apart has fell because of the extreme opposition and relentless onslaught it faced from external entities mostly the government of the United States. Those that didn't, fell because no line of session was in place and egotistical individuals with no leadership skills thought they should lead.

You are smart enough to know I am not looking for a leader but you should know that Organization is the key, our revolutionary struggle is not a pop up shop it is a sustained war against white supremacy in all its manifestations and without organization you get what we have witness as our response to the contemporary lynching of black men. That is not to deny the effects of such protest but is to say they are unsustainable in their current forms. All protest must be organized with a purpose in mind.

What is his message?

Neely Fuller, Claude Anderson, Boyce Watkins, Dr. Ali Muhammad, Brother Polight, Farrakhan, even Michael Eric Dyson, Cornell West and Roland Martin....we got a lotta bros saying a lotta good things.

All I'm saying is that no one needs to be on ego shit when it comes to the conscious movement. It's like slaves arguing over whose chains are the shiniest.

Polight is fraud IMO

What is his message?
Black empowerment and pointing out the illusion of integration.Power doesn't concede to the weak which Black people are globally under the system of white supremacy.

Africans can learn a valuable lesson from the Japanese and Chinese who were once dominated by western imperialism less than 100 years ago which the latter is now able to present itself as a challenge to white supremacy. They both were able to becone economically free which gives their citizens in western nations protection from systematic white supremacist abuse unlike Africans throughout the diaspora
whose nations or communities rely on the white mans mercy so they have no mechanism of striking back if abused.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with what he talks about. I'm just saying he brags and makes it a competition with other prominent black voices and I think that's bullshit. That's my gripe, he needs to chill on that ego shit. I won't support cats like him because it's immature and their actions can sabotage OUR progress.

He has to make competition and insult other prominent Blacks because it improves his brand. This is all about the dollars and nothing less. The so called Conscious preachers have to shit on each other to get the masses to attend their lectures. Umar's event ticket sales probably went up after the Seti issue, and Seti's ticket sales will go up as well.

Bigup Umar. played himself with those dumb ass rants but i havent forgotten the good. Keep going

I ain't beefing with anyone. I hope Umar has much success but he has made many miss steps.

His tantrum doesn't inspire confidence in his sustainability.

His aggressive used of that N word is unsettling to many folks with a gentler spirit.

His dealing with a Stripper is unsettling to some morality based people.

His self glorification is off-putting to more moderate souls.

Dude is using a fucking hip hop strategy to forward his cause.

Not the best tactic to build an institution. He can only sell shows and mix tapes but he can't get donations and financial commitments .

That school program should not have his name on it. He hasnt done anything yet. He is putting the cart in front of the house.

Too much I instead of us and we.

If the school is for black boys then name it as such.

He ain't a Prince. He ain't distinguished. Stick with the Dr and be a Administer and Founder.

He has a job and additional income from his lectures, seminars and book income plus a donation sponsored down payment. He can finance his own project.

The problem is not Dr. Umar. The problem is white people.

When you place the blame for your shortcomings solely at the feet of others, you give up the power to change.

I know Dwight has a legacy of tyranny, but I swear to GOD he didn't make Umar utter the words 'King Kong Consciousness'.

Under a system of racism/white supremacy no black person has power to change anything.
