Why The US Has No High-Speed Rail

Here is the Brightline map. I like that its a straight shot from WPB to Orlando.

There will be 16 daily round trips with hourly departures between Miami and Orlando. One-way from Orlando to their station in Miami on their non-stop train will take three hours.

The high-speed passenger rail company announced on Thursday that tickets for trips out of Orlando's station go on sale in May, with one-way sales starting at $79 for their Smart seats and $149 for their Premium seats.

That's pretty high. Here in Europe the DB is 49 euro/person for the month anywhere it goes. So, if you want to travel from Frankfurt to Berlin or anywhere, that's the only price you need to pay.

Is the rail government owned or private?

Funny how these cacs claim how advanced the US is but we are years behind on this hell they can't even keep our lower speed train on the tracks. You know how big of a hit the airlines would take if the US had a correctly running fully functional high speed trains going everywhere across the US
Which is why its so slow getting high speed rail complered here.

Yep. I took a train from Nuremberg to K town sure as hell wasn't close to 80

Bingo

A HIGH SPEED line from Vegas to LA with completion time in 2028 prior to Olympics.

By the time we get high speed rail, ......Japan will have flying trains.
No, they will have Transport devices like Star Trek. America really need to catch up on a lot of things. Millennials and Gen Z, it’s up to you guys to make it happen.

we
Even with Biden as president, we are not getting high-speed rails. America could easily just start with a few routes then expand, shit just start with a LA to Mia to NY dedicated line.
yep exactly,we could have Atl,NY,La and Dallas as hubs and build out from those. you cover the south with Atl the west with LA the northeast with NY and Dallas for midwest and as a connector from east to west and south to north. we just cant get shit done as long as the GOP is in control and the Dems are pussies.

Will the new infrastructure bill finally address nationwide high speed rail?
This country isn’t interested in efficiency just profits. I have an electric car. I have always wanted one because I felt anything was better than putting excess carbon into the atmosphere. There still is a conversation about range anxiety somewhere. To me, if that was a serious issue to hold, I would argue that having a robust public transportation would spur innovation in the battery sphere. But like everything in this racist country, transportation spending is based on race. If you thought racists didn’t like negros in their schools, imagine a negro who could travel freely and cheaply around this white man’s nation. They want selective travel for us preferably as porters.

I feel you. Many folks ain't ready for EV. Thry just don't do their research and then blame everyone else.

High speed rail is happening. The rollout is gonna be slow as hell, but I think as the years go on, more and more investment will happen. It's gonna be like what you see now.. big cities being linked to other big cities, and that's eventually how the whole country will be connected.

This country speaks English but I feel as if they don’t really understand the language. In this country freedom means to pledge allegiance to a corporation. Entire cultural norms weren’t formed on an evolutionary basis but in marketing. If you want to the EV market to grow, you have to have racist Boers lead electric vehicle companies.

Hipsters that are dressed as Daniel Boone are that way for a reason.

Can I be honest with you? I saw the origin of the link and my alarms started going off. I didn’t finish the story because life is too short for that kind of thing. But come the fuck on. That person isn’t real. That story isn’t real. That guy is a moron.

Those lines would be waaaaay too long for an initial rollout for numerous reasons.

Labor in America is fucked, most projects run over for various reasons, (labor shortage, weather conditions, low/slow output of current labor group....etc)

Then you have the issue of, there are still areas where rail crossings do not have working lights / gates.....the number is small in Ohio, however one incident at just one crossing could "derail," the whole movement (so gotta factor in sending inspectors out to ALL train crossings)

Then there's the question of exact routes, the US has thousands of miles of train lines, however a high speed train line is not like a regular line, there will be a need to lay tracks outside of current rail tracks, so that means negotiating with the states and cities that will be effected.....

Working intrastate initially, with a proof of concept line will be easier to produce than trying to cross multiple states. Maybe run a line from north Cali to southern Cali....

Well look at that Cali is building a line from the Bay Area to the LA Basi , 422 miles in total.....they're dispatching 1,300 workers everyday.

This one highway overpass, 509 ft by 43 ft, tool nearly 3 years to complete......Cali is spending $$$

And let's not begin on the electricity grid and what HSR is gonna do to a state like Texas......
