Because they made it popular. NWA was huge on both coasts.

Same way Allen Iverson get credit for creating today's modern crossover. He just made it popular.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The same reason people associate "Jiggy" with Will Smith and not The Lox. The same reason some people think Shaq started the term "bling" and not Cash Money/Hot Boys.

yeah thats what i thought. kinda crazy do you would think that nwa would at least say that ice-t started it.

NWA came harder and was accepted by both coasts.

Ice-T make the mistake of going after LL.

TRACY MARROW aka ICE-T

Marrow received further inspiration as an artist from Schoolly D's gangsta rap single "P.S.K. What Does It Mean?", which Marrow heard in a club. Marrow enjoyed the single's sound and delivery, as well as its vague references to gang life, although the real life gang, Park Side Killers, was not named in the song.[15]

Marrow decided to adopt Schoolly D's style, and wrote the lyrics to his first gangsta rap song, "6 in the Mornin'", in his Hollywood apartment, and created a minimal beat with a Roland TR-808. Marrow compared the sound of the song, which was recorded as a B-Side on the single "Dog'n The Wax", to that of the Beastie Boys.[15] The single was released in 1986, and Marrow learned that "6 in the Mornin'" was more popular in clubs than its A-side, leading Marrow to rap about Los Angeles gang life, which Marrow described more explicitly than any previous rapper. He intentionally did not represent any particular gang, and wore a mixture of red and blue clothing and shoes to avoid antagonizing gang-affiliated listeners, who debated his true affiliation.

Ice T Net Worth
American rapper and actor,Tracy ‘Ice-T’ Marrow, has an estimated net worth of $30 million. Often cited as the founding father of gangsta rap, Ice-T has also crafted a successful film career from his hardened street persona. Despite the fact that his early roles stuck closely to his public image as a thuggish West Coast pimp.

Metaphoric opinion:

I think Tracy has got plenty of credit for gangster rap....but I don't think he
or any one person can claim they started it...it seemed more of a collective
and Ice-T was the west coast (Magic Johnson) and Eazy was the (Kobe) to
West Coast gangster rap Ice Cube, Dre and Snoop would be metaphorically
the rest of the Lakers CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYERS.

Just my opinion with some facts thrown in...all you West Coast hip hop
scholars please don't get your panties in a bunch cause I'm spitting
opinion...:hmm:

:rolleyes::lol:

PSK>6 In Tha Morning>> Boyz In tha Hood.

They all copied Schooly and got more popular with each bite.

Plus, Ice T started off doing records with the Time, and techno shit. Dre was doing love songs with Lonzo before making NWA shit.

Damn, you took it back to Crew in Action!!

Cube used to jack everybody's style for years before he got straight.

Schoolly D, Just ICE, ICE-T and BDP (KRS-ONE) began gangster rap. NWA and Easy E made it famous. Kool G Rap inspired a lot of folks afterwards.

Their ignorance doesn't nullify the facts, though.

Looking at the clips, dude seems sort of feminine and questionable. I get the vibe he enjoyed being in jail.
